Marcus Rashford (out)

I understand why Barca want him, if they can find the money, because they don’t have many good options on the wings next to Yamal and Raphina. It seems those two play almost everything and it shows.

Hopefully the fact that no one seems to want Rashford will humble him a fair bit and make him and his ‘advisors’ see that 1 good season over 5 seasons doesn’t make him a world class talent or even that desirable in the slightest.

I actually think Rashford saw his interview with Henry Winter as his Ronaldo/Morgan moment and that he’d have multiple clubs lining up to take him but unlike Ronaldo he’s never done it at the highest level and people have seen through his PR, there’s a genuine possibility that we’re stuck with him which is terrible for us financially but even worse for Rashford and his standing in the game and I think his advisors have royally fecked him.
It's actually very similar to Ronaldo's Morgan interview. Ronaldo was deluded to think big European clubs would take him and his huge wages on. Rashford seems to think the same. Ronaldo ended up in Saudi. Not sure where Rashford will end up but he and his agents, like Ronaldo and Mendes, have massively overestimated his desirability amongst top clubs.

You could say Ronaldo was deluded, Rashford was plain stupid to do the same thing after seeing it fail for the biggest sports star on the planet

Especially considering Christiano is one of the greatest ever, even if now aged. And his manager is one of the best.

Rashford was great for 6months maybe, most of his career is questionable at best, definitely never world class, and his manager is his own brother i.e. clueless

There is no comparing the two. Maybe only in his deluded mind and in the bullshit his entourage feeds him

He did have offers. But Saudi is too good to turn down money wise. It's not like he had anything else to proof by that time

You should rarely leave a job if you don't have another lined up. Similar case here. You shouldn't be spouting off to the press in wanting a new challenge if you don't have another club lined up.

Will be watching this develop throughout the course of the month but methinks Rashford and his bros have potentially fecked this up already.

To be fair, I don't think Rashford wanted out. I feel the club is trying to get rid of under performing + overpaid players know we 99.99% won't have Europe next year and who else to top that list but Rashford? Very likely the club told him they want him out and his agent came out and portrayed as if it was Rashford who wanted out to placate Rashford's ego.

He should go to Saudi Arabia and retire after a couple of years. He isnt in it for the love currently, for a lot of years now actually, but money and fame.

Pretty sure Mendes was against the interview and he got fired by Ronaldo because of it.

Doesn't really change anything ref the stupidity of the interview with Winters.

I'm happy to see him loaned, but I don't understand loaning several players without bringing in a replacement. I'd rather keep him if no one is coming.

If you’re going to foster a competitive mentality you need to show the rest certain behaviours won’t be tolerated. If it means loaning out a bunch of players with no one coming in then just do it. The lads who stick around will be more willing to fight and the ones outgoing won’t hold the same level of authority when they come back.

Interesting definition of “failed” as CR7 got a vast financial package to play in Saudi

“Several” out on loan because it’s being reported by the Athletic we are in talks to loan Rash, Malacia and Antony - if that happens surely reasonable to expect at least 2 incoming in Jan (LwB and #10/#9) - 3 if Casemiro also leaves

Only a couple of injuries away from a bench full of academy players

Well rested now after his winter break, ideal for some club to snap up this bargain, come on, line up please, first reasonable offer and he is yours.

He was already one of the worlds richest footballers. Failed in the sense that he wanted to remain in Europe and fight for trophies, build on his goalscoring stats in the CL, his legacy. Even without a transfer fee there wasn't any concrete interest from decent clubs in Europe , what he was left with was Saudi retirement.

From a financial pov, Ronaldo's deal was fantastic. But I m sure he preferred to play for 2 more years in a team like Bayerns rather than go to Saudi so early.

The fact that there wasn't credible links to any clubs in the immediate aftermath of the interview would be a fairly decent indication that they fecked up. The only question we should be asking ourselves is how the feck do we deal with the aftermath of him being at the club after the transfer window shuts
Play him in the reserves. He'll stink out the first team squad and bring toxicity to the changing room.

Also , no surprise that the team is no longer being leaked to the press since he's been frozen out.

I agree, we are thin but at the same time, we arent really playing for much these days. I am a bit skeptical of such loan deals when there is no buying clause in there, because there is no really obvious point to loan a player out only to get him back in the summer. Maybe hoping his value would increase but in half a year that effect is probably unlikely enough to really build a strategy on it.

Surely if Rashford leaves then a replacement needs to come in. That would be him and Antony both leaving. Leaves us short in attack

We’re already short, and loans don’t really help us. Feels like this is why Garnacho is being offered around to pay for it.

Would be very silly to get rid of 3 attackers in 1 window whilst only bringing in potentially 1

By now you could make a full XI from inter and Dortmund, the amount of our cast offs they’ve taken

Yes. Antony is almost done, and Malacia is reported to be going on loan as well. You don't loan Rashford and Antony without bringing at least one replacement.

Ah, yeah i'd be surprised if we let all of them go without bringing someone in, at least a short term loan option.

But if there are no options, then maybe they are happy to take the potential performance hit just to get rid of players

Probably less of a performance hit if we had to resort to playing Antony or Rashford.

At least Inter built a title winning team with them
