Marcus Rashford (out) | signs for Villa on loan

Dortmund seem to be the only one who could take him on loan. I dont think Barca will work out due to the state of their finances.

Question is whether Ten Haag wants him or wants to avoid him.
 
I doubt the lack of clubs interested will give him a reality check. But damn not even I thought it will be that difficult to get rid....

See, I think it must be. Between his crap form and enormous wages, not many are willing to take a punt even on a 6 month loan. That surely must bruise the ego.

Yet it hasn't resulted in him backtracking. Amorim gave him a fairly easy way out, by stating that players like Rashford have people around them that aren't always thinking about what's best for the player, and that the decision to do the interview wasn't solely on Rashford.

I only said it might bruise his ego. He might also think himself he is too far down the line so needs a way out from United. I was still maybe naïve after the interview, thinking he would get his head down and graft hard so that, if he wasn't going to stay at United long term at least show what you can do and get plenty of sides looking at you come the summer.
 
Only United can have transfer out sagas.

CL clubs won't pay Marcus even a third of what he's on now. Accept it, Marcus, if you care about playing football.

Imo it says quite a lot about him, and it just brings me back to the PR stuff like the fluff pieces ala the players tribunal "who i really am". It's absolutely amazing that a new manager comes in and it goes completely sideways that fast, followed by a pre-planned interview where Rashford essentially says he's ready for bigger things.
 
The hugely annoying thing with all of this is that Rashford could really nail down the CF position in this team if he put his heart to it. A motivated Rashford is miles better than Hojlund and we could play Zirkzee and Bruno behind him, with Amad and hopefully a new signing as WBs. The pace Rashford has would make teams sit back rather than push up on us like they do with Hojlund and Zirkzee as they know they have zero pace.

Rashford sort it out pal, for all of us. Force a move or knuckle down lad.

Who even knows the real story. Rashford could’ve replied with those words verbatim, in a jokey way which loses all context written down.

There’s enough things we do know about to criticise Rashford for, without inventing stuff or inferring things from media reports written by people who weren’t there.

Yeah that's a good point. He has certainly been shown up more so this time, that it deteriorated as quickly with Amorim as he wasn't willing to put up with a lack of effort.
 
Sounds like it might go down to the wire, going to have to be some form of compromise as it does neither the club nor the player any favours if he doesn’t go out on loan.
 
when the conversation about wages happens is when these deals are falling down I reckon

we'll likely start asking for less towards the end of the window as we're so desperate to shift him
 
The entire thing stings moreso than with other players because of the whole dickheadedness of it all. He's been here since he was a kid, apparently loves the club, but when shit hits the fan and he's called out for not pushing himself enough, he comes out just before the January window and sets us up to be in a weakened negotiating position with his self centered "I want a new challenge" announcement.

Many of us said at the time it was madness offering him a ridiculous contract of 300k a week. Feel like we should have sold him after that 30 goal season when his stock was so high
 
I was expecting a proper auction for him considering how much rated he is among his fanboys.

I don’t follow the club’s strategy at all here really. We are going to “step up” our efforts with 10 days left of the transfer window? Would it not have been helpful to be making maximum effort so this was resolved early in January?

Since Rashford want's away it would seem that his advisors should be putting in the work to find the right path for him and solve the financial aspects of the deal, more so than the club.

He is sitting on a £15m per year contract for the next 4.5 years. If the club wants him out we most definitely should not be relying on his team to sort something out. That’s equivalent to asking the fox to check the security on the chicken coup.
 
Since he’s an academy lad, why don’t we just release him for the minimum possible?

It would still be profit on our end since we got him for nothing, and teams would be more inclined to indulge his wages if the transfer fee is miniscule.
