Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

Anything above £30m I’d bite your arm off at the shoulder as long as his entire wages were covered and we don’t have to subsidise or compensate.

Would honestly be glad to see him thrive elsewhere.

It's not working at ours and the FFP angle is too lucrative.

Cannot see more than 30-40 million, though, considering the wage.

Get rid, unfortunate but he needed to go in the summer

Just do a straight swap for that Coventry City lad at Sporting in Jan.

I think he's been slightly better this season than last but he's not going to be tough to replace these days

A change would be best for both parties so he can start enjoying his football again and we can use the funds to sign a forward who suits Amorim's system. I'd be surprised if anyone has the money to buy him in January though.

It’s been in the best interests for both parties for a while. All the more so because he just doesn’t fit the current managers system.

Such a weird situation, I’m convinced he’ll be incredible elsewhere, much better than Sancho at Chelsea for example. We’re just a terrible place to play football.
I don’t care if he leaves but do think he will be successful where he goes next, so I don’t want to see him go to a PL rival.
Genuinely curious to know why you guys think that. He has never hit 20 goals in the league, and I understand United have been a dysfunctional team, but his attributes are not of a player who can play for a title challenging team. He cannot hold the ball up, he is not great at short passing, he shoots at sight, and his first touch can be good but often it is not. Add in problems with attitude and ambling about on the pitch, which top side would want to carry him in their team?

The only way I can see him succeed elsewhere is the allure of a fresh challenge. Perhaps he might become a motivated team player in a different set up where he is not afforded the status of a golden boy and has it all to prove.

We're stuck with him. Nobody is going to be taking him with the wages he's on.

It's going to be an Aubameyang situation, try to palm him off on loan, subsidise his wages and bench him until he takes a move elsewhere.

I kind of agree, Rashford loaned out for the rest of the season in a league and team where he would put up the numbers could massively increase his saleability, but who and where even if we subbed his wages? wouldneed to be abroad, could do well in Spain, Italy or France.

However would need to bring somebody in which would weaken our position for selling him, or have the confidence to promote Wheatly, Biancheri, Obi or bring Hugill back, personally I do not think any are good enough or ready for that yet, however would be interested in Garnacho as a 9, better than selling him because he doesn't fit the 8/10 role, at least as a 9 he would probably be closer to goal and his selfishness would be less of an issue

Our desire to stick with him because he's one of our own and has had two good seasons in about 10 is what has been wrong with the club, so all for getting him out of the club.

I think watching Garnacho with his back to goal and being forced to be good on the ball, hold off defenders and hold up play would be absolutely brutal.

Hallelujah!!! This is why I wanted Amorim. No place at United for lazy and entitled players who just are not good enough.

His wages aren’t that bad if we’re not playing CL football and he’s not scoring goals. They’ll be a club out there that thing they can get him firing again and will pay him £250k a week
250k are astronomical wages and would break the wage structure of almost every club in Europe.

Outside of a counter attacking system, he's not very good.

Our academy is overly romanticized. He was anointed as special when he never was.

Last game he played right beside Amad. The gulf in technical ability was staggering.

Saying that, he can be a devastating player in the right system.

The ones who could afford him wouldn't take him though. The only one I can think off is PSG? Not sure who else is a goer.
PSG, Barcelona, Bayern can all afford him and would be interested at the right price. As poor as he’s been for us, he’s still capable of scoring 20+ goals a season in any of those leagues and one of them will be desperate enough to risk it. I also think he’d accept a lower salary to get a move and start again if we forced the issue.

Yeah I don't see him starting for Bayern or Barca taking him at all. Especially at those wages.

Like who? He won’t be paid that wage in full by any team in Europe. Not in his current form, it just won’t happen. PSG at a push if they’re desperate.
He doesn’t have to be, there are always add ons or just the prospect of winning trophies. He’s made his money, most players who leave us go on to lower or similar salaries.

We'll need to pay him a considerable amount to leave or subsidize his wages but he has to go.

Not convinced there will be clubs in for him though seeing as he was supposedly available in the summer and offers weren't forthcoming. Not shown anything on the pitch to change anyones mind either.

You don't live in the real world.

Barca play Raphina who is having a brilliant season at LW and need other positions filled first. PSG have Barcola. Bayern I suppose only have Coman and Gnabry so maybe but I dont see him fitting. That's about it. Anyone else couldn't afford his wages. He will have to be loaned with us paying half his wages.
Wish we could sell him though. It would help if he found some form.

Most clubs use data to find players nowadays. He is not top of those charts. To be frank, what is his usp?

Why make stuff up?

I'm pretty sure we would have been open to selling him before, but the issue is his wages and who will be willing to take this on. I don't see what's changed in that regard

There's a lot of truth to this.

So many fans want Rashford to succeed, because he's an academy lad, and because he has already shown what he can do when he's at his best. But in reality there are more issues than upside here and time is running out for him. At 27 he's supposed to be at his peak and one of our reliable performers, but he is a complete lottery ticket each season - sometimes maybe
good, sometimes maybe shit. That would be less of a problem in a quality squad, but he's profiled and paid like a star performer, which he just isn't.

It would be sad, but it would make a lot of sense to ship him.

I think you are completely wrong, but let's hope there is some club somewhere that feels the same way, so we can get rid of more of the deadwood that Rashford has become

I'm pretty sure we would have been open to selling him before, but the issue is his wages and who will be willing to take this on. I don't see what's changed in that regard
Nothing has changed, we will have to make up for the insane salary. Meaning, if he is worth 50 million quids, we will have to earn 30 instead and use the remaining 20 million quids to pay him off or compensate the future club for the high wages. The actual structure can be shaped in multiple ways, but that's the basic idea

Either somebody with stupid resources takes him, or we freeze him out and force him to accept a lower move for the sake of his career. I don't see what difference it'd make to us anyway, as he's done next to nothing on the pitch for over two years when starting almost every game.

We need to have players with higher floors. We have pandered too much to players peak levels and given contracts relative to that but we have as a result got players like Rashford on huge contracts who can actually be a detriment to the team when they are not on their game, which is most games these days.

There are others that are less deserving of a place in the squad…but whilst specifically on the subject of Rashford, can anyone actually give a good reason why he should be kept?
