Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

INEOS aren't among the nicest blokes in town but from a logistic POV this is BS on a whole new level. First of all Rashy has been shite for months both on and off the pitch. Secondly if the story is true then INEOS are a bunch of idiots cause in such circumstances there's nothing stopping a furious Rashford to just dig his heels and refuse to move. Finally the 'they want me out' story would have gone out during his PR stunt with Henry Winter.

If you ask me this is yet another pathetic attempt to generate some sympathy to his cause after that train wreck of an interview with Henry Winter. Unfortunately the poor Rashy excuse has now ran thin.
So far the one thing we know is a fact is that Ineos are idiots so wouldn't put it past them to do this and not think of the consequences..

I sometimes wonder if we have agents or press teams on here because there's nearly always wild takes. I get favouring a local lad and all but some go way beyond that.

I’m genuinely puzzled by what your take on the situation is here. You think Rashford is pushing for a move and he’s blindsided the club with it or something else?

Redcafe, so what if he says he is ready to leave? It's what ya'll wanted, go and celebrate ffs. Marcus, so what if United are trying to sell you? You've been underperforming for a while now, deal with it. INEOS, stop being cnuts, there are more nuanced and empathic ways to go about your business. Amorim, you have done nothing wrong in this saga imo... classy fecker...

I think people backing him just look at the current attack - see it's utterly pony, and then see that we've got a guy who has had a couple of 25 goal seasons in recent memory.
Yes he's well off it now, but a well ON it any other player we possess wouldn't get anywhere near that.

Definitely. It would be their job to cast their client in favourable light on all social media platforms.

He PRed his response, which sums him up.

I remember SAF's interview few weeks prior JSV's departure from United. At the time it became evident that he was a rather expensive experiment that went bad and that the club wanted him out. Yet when a journalist dared asking whether JSV had a future at United, SAF went absolutely bonkers. It was like a journalist had just ask him whether he was planning to sell Scholes to Liverpool for a packet of crisps, sort of bonkers. The reason for such over reaction was that clubs don't like to be pushed into a transfer. They know that once they claim that a player is on sale or is unhappy then his price will go down. Thus SAF had to carry the illusion that JSV was key to his plans up so that United could sell him on their terms.

There's plenty of parallels between Rashy and JSV. Its increasingly evident that Rashford is not suited for the United's game and that his salary is a huge burden for someone who simply jogs around. What's different is the way the two players had conducted themselves. JSV remained quiet till the end. By doing so he strengthened United's bargaining hand. Rashy on the other hand did a classic rug pull. Instead of letting the club slowly negotiate a deal on their own terms he went to the media and he claimed that 'the time is right for him to seek a new challenge'. Everyone knows that it makes zero sense to keep an unhappy player around especially on that salary. So by outing that he had weakened United's bargaining hand which in turn would drive the price down and will force United to sell him/loan him. When the backlash hit home, stories started leaking out about how he was promised that we were going to sign better players then we actually did (Phil Brown) and how he was stunned to learn that United wanted him out. Its actually a more elegant tactic to what Sancho did ie one whom he thought would be equally effective but without hindering his brand name too much.

That's quite cynical from a player. There again its pretty evident in the way Rashy conducts himself on and off the pitch that his love for the club is long gone.

Come on now

Who's got time for that? How much is the pay? What are the qualifications? Deploying bots on twitter is one thing but I very much doubt his PR are paying caftards........ checks notes..... to argue on redcafe

Yeah, I don’t think we are going to agree here. I think it’s safe to say that in Fergie’s time we wouldn’t have had all those news stories on Monday about the club being desperate to sell and having tried to do so all year but can’t because Rashford is such a problem. That’s what has harmed any sale prospects not Rashford saying he won’t stand in the way of the club selling him, if that’s what they want to do.

Here you are spot on. You could maybe argue they both hurt it to different degrees (if saying you're open to a new challenge is that problematic) but if anyone is getting onto Rashford for the interview and waving away the clubs PR.........

Rashford saying he is open to a new challenge doesn’t harm his sale value at all. If I was a potential buyer reading the articles on Monday and then hearing Rashford on Tuesday I’d certainly be a lot more willing to pay for him than if he’d just remained silent.

Spot on brother. All parties here (minus Amorim) aren’t really coming out of this looking good at all.

You are suggesting that it was united who leaked this information. Yet this provides United with zero benefit. United hate conducting major business in January and for very good reason. Most clubs have little to no money to spend in January and are very close to psr in terms of salary. So any potential deal would probably lead to a loan with united covering most of the salary.

So could those leaks come from the same person who has been walking on the pitch for months? The same person who literally confirmed to Henry winter that he wants out? Cause we all saw Amorim interview and he was genuinely surprised of Rashy wanting to leave

It's everyone's fault apart from the guy who keeps jogging on the pitch while confessing his love for the club

Well it's a guess. And no you don't have to pay posters. Just register your own account and post away.

Yeah, I’m sure Rashford was leaking that he’s such an issue that the club feels they have to sell him but can’t because he’s so unprofessional. I’m sure he also leaked that he missed training last Monday just after he hadn’t been selected yesterday. Sounds legit.

I don’t know why this is being leaked but it clearly isn’t coming from Rashford or his team. It’s club generated - the only question is how deliberate it is.

Seconded, not everything is a story!

I hope this isn’t true. If Rashford really found out that the club is trying to sell him by reading the headlines on Monday then that’s pretty dire. I’d assumed there would have been discussions with him/his team on Sunday before the club briefed the media.
What if it is? He's been shite for a long period and has been having disciplinary issues since Ole's time. Learning the club have been trying to shift him is no excuse for anything.

exactly but that's the way Rashford's PR team want it. All he had to do is tell the club behind the scenes, he wants to leave and pursue the appropriate channels. Don't go telling a reporter. We had the ridiculous example of Amorim talking for 10 mins in the pregame presser about the Rashford saga for a game he wasn't even involved in.

Do you think they wouldn’t have spent the whole press conference asking those very same questions? The papers were full of stories about the clubbing wanting rid anyway, and the manager had dropped him from the entire match day squad for the derby.

No, they didn't speak about Garnacho for 10 mins did they, no because he didn't run to the press saying he wants a new challenge, he's buckled down and forced his way back into the squad. Amorim said good things about Rashford after the derby game. He's chopped and changed his team basically every game he's been here, but he drops a player who has been poor for 18 months and spends his whole interview talking about him.

He'd already been left out v City though hadn't he? That was pre interview
Yes that was for not applying himself in training and his demeanour around Carrington, alongside Garnacho.

Tuesday of that week the interview came out and he’s been left out ever since.

Whereas Garnacho has got back into the squad

As said before if the club wanted to push him out then that would have been the first thing rashy would have told Winter about. It wasn't the case

Regarding professionalism. Amorim is the 4th consecutive manager who had issues with rashford's commitment. We also had Belfast gate and of course months of Rashy walking on the Finally we had him calling sick after or before playing madre Theresa at a school with Henry winter carefully documenting every act. So we can presume that he doesn't give a feck what the united fans think about him

What's also constant is the great lengths united had tried to make the Rashy thing work. Ole was made to apologize to him for criticizing him in public, a first in terms of a united manager being forced to bend the knee to a player. Rangnick open heart surgery comment was shot down, ETH was said to get the job because he promised to get a tune out of the English prince, then united threw the kitchen sink in terms of salary to keep psg out of his sights, they tried to bury the Belfast gate only to offer him a quick route to first team soon afterwards. When the whole winter interview blew up they tried to twist things around by saying that actually the new challenge Rashy was referring to might have been the one Amorim was providing to the team. That was quickly shot down by Winter once again who spelled it out that Rashford wants to leave. Even afterwards Amorim is still rambling as bout Rashy being part of his plans if he does well on training.

So why can't you entertain the idea that maybe, just maybe, we have a player who is pushing hard to leave and that the club might not be keen on that at least yet?

Nothing I say will change your mind, given that you are so convinced Rashford is some Machiavellian mastermind. There is absolutely no chance that the articles on Monday saying what a problem Rashford was emanated from Rashford’s camp and it’s ludicrous to try and suggest that they did.

"For me, as a coach, I'm just focused on the performance, the way he trains. The rest, it's better for me and the club to deal with that when the time comes.”

Sounds like Rashford has been dropped for performance related issue more than anything.

That entire quote reads to me like he will be back in the squad next game. Interesting to see what happens.

I never met Rashford but I met about 30 united players in my lifetime, 6 of which this year alone (Johnsen, Stam, evra, Buchan, macari and O'Shea). I assure you there is nothing remotely Machiavellian about them. Some probably think that Machiavelli is a variant of hp sauce.

Things are very different in terms of people surrounding these players. Having met the late mino raiola myself i can assure you that the people who surround the modern player are some of the most brilliant and ruthless minds around. They might not be able to string a grammatically correct sentence in their own language but they can put the football equivalent of a money heist.

Rashford's a 27 year old man at the end of the day. He should have done the interview because he wanted to, not because his team made him do it.

If you're a 19yr old kid and need an agency to steer you, then yeah I'd get if they just went along with everything they said.

Not a 27 year old though. I'd expect them to stop and think 'Do I want to do this'

Huh? Were there stories in the press about Garnacho being transferred listed, and reflective of the erosion of standards of the club, too?

Maybe. We're definitely not better without him in the side, that's for sure.

Question is, are we better with him in the side? Not sure on that either.

Clever by Amorim to blame Rashfords team, gives Marcus an easy way out of this problem rather than making it a problem between the player and club.
