Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

I was thinking nobody will want Rashford at a high price, but then you realise United would probably accept lower offers and if you start the bidding at 40m then his options do become greater.

Also loans/swap deals are more common now with PSR/FFP.

Wonder if we can do a deal with Napoli for Kvara plus cash. I know swap deals are really rare but Italian clubs are the most likely to do it. Also Conte love his washed United players and they do tend to do well in Italy
we don't play with wingers anymore so no point in bringing in Kvara

If it turns out that there isn't already a deal pencilled in for Jan, this whole incident will just look really bizarre.
United with their leaks, Rashy with his PR.

True. I doubt there's any logic to his PR though. He is either trying to make it look like him leaving is by choice or his PR don't understand football. Probably both.

I'm glad he seems to be being held to account for his performances. His PR operation seems weird.

Sancho the gift that keeps on giving.... wish he would just feck off already, absolute bellend, I don't care if we gave him to Chelsea and he turns into world player of the year, just want him and anything to do with him as far away from us as possible
Being backed by Sancho is like the kiss of death for someone's reputation. The two were paid over half a million a week by United and what did they actually do together?

Maybe the club have told him he's on his way and it's all arranged. But if not, to just casually throw in that's he's ready to leave is very odd indeed.

I think United are keeping him uninjured to sell by not playing him. Wise move actually.

I think United are keeping him out of the squad because he’s been shit and is stinking the place out when he is around. Wise move actually.

It’s not like we have a plethora of offers to choose from. We’d be lucky to get 2 offers for a player who’s largely be trash.

I read that there are a couple of Saudi clubs who are in for him. Better than nothing.

He has the Simpsons tattoo. What else do you expect? never the brightest that lad. Which is okay. But he's also bitter now.

I think I'm gonna look back on his career here far more positively than most. Basically his goalscoring was similar on the wing to a guy like Callejon at Napoli (Callejon's numbers there are worst, but damn near identical before his final 2 seasons there at age 31/32 when he was past it, which let's be ungenerous and say would be the same if Rashford stayed) who I assume is pretty well-regarded there, and while he wasn't as good an all-around player, his threat in behind was greater and probably opened up more space for others.

To put it in United terms, If we'd had 10-12 players at his level in the post-Ferguson era we'd have been a decent team. He should have had Nani's job of being mercurially brilliant in an actually great team as a fixture in the weaker half of the starting XI and produced about 2 great seasons like Nani and Rashford.

He needs to go, and it's been awful watching him be unwilling to contribute on the pitch over and over the last couple of years (little defending, never cared to learn to press well), but overall it was a solid career and his inconsistency isn't uncommon in winger.

Accomplishing what he did off the field was legendary. We've supported some truly, truly awful people at this club and it was nice to be truly proud of a United player. Poverty work is really difficult to scale up. I used to do a lot of it before burning out; It's painful to think of how much more the organizers I know could have accomplished if one of the most popular athletes in the city I live in gave even half the feck that Rashford did. Thousands of people properly fed and hundreds homed is my guess. We obviously have no idea what kind of person Rashford is in his personal life, not worth speculating, but he's definitely done a lot of good.

It's ending badly. Might have been different if we hadn't been a complete mess since Ferguson left. We'll never know. Amorim has done the right thing, but we should honor Rashford in a few years when people would be less angry about it.

Is 40m not considered a high price? I'd be very happy if we managed to get that for Rashford, given his wages. I'm not convinced we'd be able to get that much for him unless he went to Saudi.

Barring a public apology, he should never play for the club again. Period. Even if we lose every game from now till the end of the season.

There are only 2 explanations for his omission again.
Maybe he has found a club and is not being played to save him from injury. Or something happened behind the scenes and he is dropped for that.

Behind the scenes

He’s clearly being dropped because of the interview, it’s highly likely he’ll be sold in Jan

Erm, what does he need to make a public apology for? Have I missed something?

Wouldn't call it highly likely. Is any club actually interested in him? Except for Saudi clubs?
I think they’ll be plenty in for him, maybe we can substitute it for “very” - either way the fact that Garnacho has played since the disciplinary, and Rashford hasn’t and considering both apparently trained very well, says to me he’s being left out because of the interview.

He was dropped before then, that is what I meant by behind the scenes, the interview just made it worse.

I have been disappointed in Rashford like most, but if/when he leave it will be another case of downgrading United’s attack.

In recent years watching Cavani, Ronaldo, Greenwood, Martial, Sancho…Rashford leave, and see the likes of Antony, Mount, Hojlund coming in to replace them. Has been a huge shift in terms of quality.

Losing Rashford isn’t my worry, it’s replacing him that’s the bigger problem.

Looking at an attack of Garnacho-Hojlund-Amad and it’s no wonder the club is where it is in the table.
