Puts into context how absurd Sancho's contract is. Even if you thought he'd deliver I'd never have thought he would've got 30+ g/a per season.
To be fair he has close to around 40 g/a per season at Dortmund, and he was still very young. I really thought when we signed him he could produce something a little less but similar.

Nah, kawaga created the doubt and mkhitaryan was the confirmation. Not falling for those bundesliga numbers again.

(Haaland was doing it before bundesliga and in the CL too before that comment comes)

But rashford is 1 dimensional, he's just better than the other 1 dimensional attacking players we have, and we have had several attacking players come here and struggle because of players like rashford. We don't have any attacking players that are not 1 dimensional, it's a typical United thing since Fergie.
This has to be a post of the year.

About in line with the wage we offered to Mount, 50K more and Rashford is more worth his wage than Mount.

I was honestly expecting something stupid like 400K.

Huh? You said and i quote "its not looking good for Rashford" when listing off players who flopped here and that was prior to saying multiple players have struggled because of players like Rashford.... can see my confusion no?

Anyway what players have came here and struggled because of Rashford or like him if you dont mind me asking?

I can understand the confusion, but I was careful with what I wrote, I usually am.

That's good. Care to further expand on the bit about Rashford or "players like him" causing other players to struggle? Very interested who fits that criteria in your opinion.

Salaries have just got stupid. The thing is as much as he and his agent might play hardball he was never going to turn down 250k was he? Even 250k is a ridiculous figure.

How about no.
That would be the impulsive thing to do.

How about we send him on loan, give him all the support he needs, try to get his career back, and hope next season we get an absolute beast of a footballer.

I dont think he should get any support. Send him on loan yes but its not him who's been a victim.

Anyway, its a wrong thread.

How much you'd give him?

Isn’t Bruno on around 240k when it was just renewed last year? Personally Rashford should be on similar level, but if we use Sancho as a yardstick for players contract then our wage bill will be hard to reduce and keep everybody happy

Well he was already on 200k so we'd have had to bump it to stupid level irrespective, the question is was a 60% rise required to keep him at the club? I take it you believe that was the minimum increase or he'd be off?

Yup.

He struggles in tight spaces, he relies on his speed, his passing isn't good, hes got technical limitations.

He is very athletic though and runs with the ball well. When counter attacking that's good, but if you need to break down a defense and do something more intricate, then hes not that player.

Nice that the club managed the minimum possible salary isn't it. Very convenient.

In your world Rashford must be a bit of a mercenary who has no love for the club.
Way to go with your wild assumptions. Kudos.

He just runs a lot then?
Might as well be a Sunday league player.

That's a fair wage for Marcus, considering last year he was in contact with PSG, at the very least, exploring a potential transfer and wage packet. This helped his side understand his value in the open market and then leveraged that with United, to an extent.

The myth that Rasfhord's passing isn't good continues...

What assumption have I made? You agreed a 60% increase was the minimum to keep him here. As in he'd leave his boyhood club if we only paid him 250k. That's not poverty is it so what other conclusion is there as to why you think he'd leave if offered less?

Problem is you probably dont rate him and dont think he even deserves what he has right now, let alone a rise. So no point in a conversation.

Boyhood club or not who knows if he'd leave if someone like PSG would offer him more than 250.

What as that got to do with what I asked? You said Rashford has caused other players to struggle here, will try again which ones?

If any player makes runs like Rashford and gets so many goal scoring chances, they would have been praised for their tactical intelligence and great off the ball movement but since it's Rashford we can't praise his game intelligence, it's always "he lacks game IQ".

The following is what I wrote a couple of days ago in this thread. I really believe some people want our academy players to play almost for free. Rashford is not stupid. Why should he accept less wages than almost half of our team is on?

These are the players who either earn as much as him, or more than him, some of them almost twice as much as him. And some of them have been earning more than him for a number of years already:
Antony, DdG, Bruno, Mount, Maguire, Martial, Sancho, Shaw, Varane, Casimiro. Plus Martínez is reportedly already in negotiations for an improved contract.

If I was Rashford or his agent, I would make sure that not only Rashford is made the highest paid player at the club, but also gets the difference paid to him which the likes of Martial, Sancho or DdG have been making over him over all those years.

No I rate him I'm just very aware our contract renewals are always a joke. Seems very unnecessary to pretend the lad wouldn't have signed for less.

Yeah 250k isn't free though is it and most of those are on similar to his current wages.

If you were his agent doing that you'd get told to do one and then when your player says he doesn't want to leave or rundown his contract your tactic is what exactly?

Wages aren't based on fair value, they're based on the minimum amount that keeps you in the role. That's it. Some believe Rashford would leave if we only offered him 300k, to me that's laughable but each to their own.

Its not about pretending its about an opinion in which we obviously dont agree.

I don’t really get your post. Mount left Chelsea after all and they were also offering him enough, they were just not willing to make him one of the highest paid players at the club.
Our highest paid players now DdG has left are Sancho, Varane and Case.
Martial is on 250 k, Rashford on 200, Antony on 200. Probably Onana will be on 200/250.
Rashford has already been making 50 k less than Martial for ages now and a lot less than Sancho for two years.
He can love the club as much as anyone can and he would still be stupid to accept anything less than what our best paid players are making.
He could even ask for 450 k but he is not doing this. 325/350 k already are a compromise on both sides, Rashford most likely wanted more.
Following your argument he can as well play for 150 k as this is already a lot of money.
Thankfully the club and ETH rate him very highly and it looks like the new contract will be signed soon. Hopefully he will get around 350 k or more with bonuses!!

Is it really a stupid salary? Rashford is probably one of if not the most important player at united. He is the most valuable from a transfer value perspective but also shirt sales, social media etc. Meanwhile nearly every year the club's revenue increases. Rooney's last contract at united was roughly 300k a week. This seems on par with that based on the above perimeters. I don't have issues with this contract. Sancho on the other hand...

Seems like fans want us to stop paying players silly salaries, in principle, but then when it comes to renewals, they want to use silly salaried players as a benchmark. It is a weird conundrum.

Not specifically speaking in case of Rashford though. When he was on 200k, and coming off a 30 goal season, there was no way he was settling for a low ball amount like 250k. Especially given he is the face of the club.

What as that got to do with what I asked? You said Rashford has caused other players to struggle here, will try again which ones?
Oh sorry I think I got confused with another message.

I am saying he limits our play in some ways and that affects every player.
