MBE has a lot of effect on players I feel like.
Harry Kane received MBE and now he can't speak English.
Rashford received MBE and his form dropped.. but he will get back to his best for he is stronger than Kane.

I have no complaints for him. Still one of the best players we have and did good against PSG, for me.

Sometimes I watch him and get frustrated. It's like he does great work then can't think fast enough and literally just runs into people and makes poor choices.

Other times I watch him and feel privileged and convinced I'm watching the ascent of a future great.

He's a constant threat, and regularly delivers while appearing fairly flawed. If it all clicks for him, and he becomes even the slightest bit clinical, he'll be tremendously lethal. So often a kind of aggressive flair and excitement about him in full flow, he just needs that extra bit of guile and composure more regularly. At 22, it's not a worry. Easy to forget how young he is.

We struck gold with him. He's priceless to us.

One thing about Rash i don´t like about it is when he think he already beats his defender before pulling trigger, how many chances he fluffed this way? But then you forgive him because he comes up with a winning strike like that!

Anyway he should be working on that bit of lack of concentration and be more ruthless, just get the shot away, be more selfish, you got a wicked shot so you can do your keeper easily with a quick finish..

Spot on.

He seems to be expected to score every single half chance he gets. It’s quite ridiculous. Scored the winner with a fantastic goal, ran their back line ragged for 90 minutes, forced one fantastic save and another decent one after starting the break with a good pass too. He was great last night, and was a nightmare to play against. Yet he somehow get criticized for it.

A goal or assist every 80 minutes so far this season. Every 129 minutes in the league after his injury last season. But apparently he’s been terrible during this whole time and I’ve seen one even claim he doesn’t affect matches. :wenger:

He also apparently needs to be taking every single chance to be like the top players in the league like Salah. Salah who had a 20% conversion rate in the league last season, worse than Rashford. But somehow Rashford needs to be taking every chance to be like him.

Exactly. The level of expectations is insane, can't even call that as expectations. It's like people don't know how to rate players at all.

I don't live in the UK but do people not get children's allowance and weekly money for children.

Could Marcus part with a hundred or so grand if he really is that incensed.

He’s given a lot more than a hundred grand he just doesn’t publicise it. The charities who have worked with him have mentioned it.

To be honest though I’m Sikh and anyone who goes to a temple (gurdwara) eats for free. Curries and even English food. The golden temple in Amritsar give around 6 million free meals a day.

And if any kid is hungry even any homeless person they should go here as it’s open for everyone. It’s called Seva and we as a culture love doing it. It’s funded by Sikhs and others who visit gurdwara as we contribute towards the needy.

I seriously mean it and I hope more people were aware of it in all honesty there would be fewer rumbling bellies.

trying Not to get A ban...

Criticise the post and not the poster... so

If I wrote this post, I’d consider myself to be a complete prick, and think that I need to take stock of my motivations, and that I need to reassess how I think - because my thought process is clearly broken.

He's always going to be a moments player (both good and bad), as I don't think he's quite proficient enough technically to reach the top tier of forwards. But that doesn't really matter because his explosiveness makes up for it and means he can win a match like last night at any moment.

It is frustrating at times though, sometimes I wish he could go take a summer stay at La Masia or somewhere and really get those small parts of his game ironed out, because it's the main keeping him as a 20 goal a year player instead of a 30-40 goal a year player. Still love him though.

He is still only 22.

He's been a regular for 4 years at this point. I'm not holding my breath expecting a complete change in his skill set this far in. His improvements from this point will probably be continuing progression in finishing and decision making if I had to guess.
If his decision making and consistency improves there's absolutely no reason he doesn't become a world class attacker.

It’s good that he’s scoring while still finding form and fitness and he’s even better coming in off the left. I think he’d have done better than martial over on that side and I think Cavani will play on the right and rash on the left v Chelsea. What a finish though last night! He buried the hardest chance of them all to win the game in the dying minutes. It’s a great platform to build on

Can't remember the last time I felt this proud about a Manchester United player. Only 22 and already an inspiration to millions.

Keep up the amazing work, Marcus, both on and off the pitch.

Abysmal post. Possibly the worst I've read on the site.

Sorry but I don't understand how children are starving in a society like the UK.

But as I said I don't live there so don't understand fully.

Is it that bad there for some?

Of course it is. Ten years of tory rule and there are people in poverty everywhere.

Use your head.

As for the suggestion about Rashford financing it, embarrassing for you really.

According to the CIA database, percentage of population living below the national poverty line:
UK (data from 2013): 15%
USA (for reference, data from 2018): 11.8% (other sources put the number around 14.5% but data is from 2013)

Specifically about the UK, data from the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) from 2016 shows that approximately 13.44m people live in relative poverty.

According to JRF (Joseph Rowntree Foundation), however, 2018/19 poverty levels are around 22%

2020 is a whole other story. More people have become recently (in the past 6 months) unemployed and young people have been affected harder than older demographics.

So, yeah, it's not great...

This is quite the follow up to your original abysmal post. I shudder to think what your next will be.

That is actually a really poignant and succinct way of describing how I feel about Marcus as well. I'm proud as feck of him. We've had some absolute overpaid wank in the team of late but this, for me is one of the rare moments since Fergie retired where I'm actually proud as punch for one of our players and the work he's doing on and off the pitch.

Outside of potentially Gary Neville (to a lesser extent), have we had a current or former player who was as vocal or impactful in the political realm as Rashford regardless of political affiliation? As a Yank, I feel I am pretty immersed in the United culture, but I just don’t have the frame of reference to put my finger on one.

I think only ManUtd fans rate players based on their poor moments instead of his matching winning goal.

He scored goal and 2 assists, few of them comes up with "Yeah he was very poor till last 10-15 mins".
He scored winner vs PSG, then you see posts like "He was so poor, messed up couple of attacks".

And then (assuming here) they will praise any other attacker as if they never miss chances but only on their high points.
Isn‘t the point of a forum for people to debate and talk about what they have seen and his performances? Having an adult discussion involves talking about the good and bad of his performances. Some people can handle that, some people can’t and post petulant posts or posts that make them seem like the superior fan/ moral high ground.

Truth is he did play well, but there are still moments to be discussed on things he did wrong or were poor. As would I’m sure many of the players in the game.
But are you saying if he had played terrible for 89 mins but in a 10 second spell he did something good and scored that would write off the previous 89 mins and we should only discuss that 10seconds ? I think not.

I think he is sometimes too honest on the pitch and at times it means that he can be bullied. He has to be himself but I think he could be a bit braver sometimes in certain situations, and maybe a bit more cynical in terms of taking advantage of the leverage he has on players with his pace. I love how his composure is now better and he has scored a few good goals after waiting for a free shot, which is good but for instance he would get a lot more penalties if he protected the ball at high speeds so when people go sliding in they don't get the ball, he should also put his body right where the defender don't want it instead of turning away from a tackle. If he does this, even quicker defenders wont be able to bully him or get the ball back after he has gone past them.

Discussing is different from rating the player on bad moments. No one rates Salah on the missed chances, they rate him on the goals he scored.

People act as if the attacks are perfect with players like Salah, Mane or other great players and they won't mess up. It's nothing to do with superior fan or moral high ground. That's how football game is, if not we would have seen score line like 20+ goals in a game.

Again, discussing is different from rating these players on those moments.

Sorry but I disagree. People often determine a players ability or worth having seen him play. The good and the bad. That’s how people come to their conclusion. People watching Salah, Mane and the likes are going to take note of the mistakes they make and frequency of the poor decisions to form an overall picture to rate them by.

Being United fans we probably see a lot more of Rashford than Mane or Salah so people can quite adequately state he probably should have done better here or there and that it’s a bit of a bad habit that needs improving if it’s frequent. Just the same as I’m sure they could say the same for Salah/Mane. I don’t watch enough to give an opinion on either other that at times Salah seems a bit ball greedy to me. However he’s shown he has the ability to frequently score from audacious positions when maybe there was a better option.

Maybe I don’t frequent the same threads as you but I don’t see these direct comparisons or people saying things like Salah wouldn’t have done that and so on.

Just think they way you presented that came off a bit condescending.

I think anyway we can all agree Rashford is a fantastic talent who is still developing and can still vastly improve aspects of his game and like every footballer will have good and bad patches.

Bold part, completely disagree. People rate players watching highlights and going by stats. They don't watch 90 mins of every player they rate, they go by what they hear, what they read and few videos which won't cover the frustrating pieces of play.

Second bold part, I have no idea why you felt that way, it was generic post and just an observation.

This is what people said about Bale at the same age as he is now.

By scoring and assisting in last 2 games, Rashford confidence must be sky high right now. Plus his off field political work must also be giving him a massive sense of life purpose.

I think Rashford will carry this goal scoring form for next 5 games til next international break.

Which we desperately need because Martial and Greenwood have issues and Cavani needs to get properly fit and adjusted to the squad and new league.

Our fan base need to get right behind Marcus. What a pleasure and fortune to have such a man at the club.
