His end product wasn't great up until the goal but you just know he's capable of turning the game on its head. He's very clutch and has been for us for a good while now, I think he's got an important role to play in our future.

I thought Darren Fletcher and Rio were both spot on with him tonight, he just need's to develop more of a selfish side and a killer instinct like Mbappe and become obsessed with goals, i think he'd benefit more from becoming less a playmaker and let other players worry about that and just become so focused on putting a ball in the back of the net, he's one of the best around and only 22, there is no ceiling for this guy.
I’d totally disagree with this. Although I get the general concept of what Fletcher was saying, I would say one of Rashfords worst attributes is that he is often way too greedy and doesn’t see others. It feels like they only decided to mention that tonight becuase two occasions where he tried to pass it he screwed it up.

If he was a ruthless and relentless finisher then what Fletch was saying about how that’ll draw or make people panic then sure take more chances but he isn’t really that, not yet.

Think he’d do better and be better if he was just more considerate and careful in the final 3rd, everything seems rushed, panicked not like he has ice in his veins.

Andy Burnham needs to get him involved in the push for extra funding for Greater Manchester.

I thought he was brilliant all game, a couple of poor decisions but he was a constant threat, their defenders looked scared when he was on the ball.

Rashford is love.
Love is Rashford.

Okay seriously, a good deciding goal and a typical normal Rashford performance - mixed of bad moments and good moments, but it's okay since he always put high effort into each play. Not his best, but who cares!

I'm sure we've seen before, each time Rashford playing RW, his game tend to be more all-rounded compare to his LW. Mostly it has to do with the ball readily at his right foot facing the goal-posts so he can deliver quicker crosses and passes or quick run into spaces compare to when he's on the LW where there tends to be delay as he have to adjust his body and foot first after receiving.

He wasn’t playing right wing, he was playing alongside Martial as a striker. He’s been proven as very ineffective on the right wing, all of his best performances have been attacking from a wide left position. Not sure where you get he’s better on the right from?

I think only ManUtd fans rate players based on their poor moments instead of his matching winning goal.

He scored goal and 2 assists, few of them comes up with "Yeah he was very poor till last 10-15 mins".
He scored winner vs PSG, then you see posts like "He was so poor, messed up couple of attacks".

And then (assuming here) they will praise any other attacker as if they never miss chances but only on their high points.

That goal was extraordinary.. genuinely created out of nothing. With the distance and angle (and the importance), it is surely a contender for the goal of the season. Both him and Martial have the syndrome of scoring some beauties but missing out on very simple ones.

Exactly. It's very frustrating.

Had he not scored the winner (which was a brilliant individual skill) he would have been the lowest rated player. So many casual mistakes, good runs ended without end product. Remember one incident when he wasn't under pressure and he casually passed the ball to PSG player without looking up whom he was passing to. Many times ran with the ball only to see he got displaced by a defender...and this is his recurring theme so far in all the matches.

But the man works his socks off.

He's sometimes Fred-like. Messes up the easy stuff but overall he's a reliable asset for a big game. What a great finish for the goal.

Messes up the basic football skills 6/10 but then displays world class ability 1/10. If he can grab games like that he’ll be something

I fecking love the kid, and what a goal that was. I was also so frustrated and worried that he would get so much stick if we failed to win after that great chance when Bruno set him up with Martial vs one of PSG's CBs. At this level he must make better use of those balls, on another night a team like PSG will punish us. I hope he irons that out of him because at the moment he will make the difficult but fail some much easier chances. And that armband suits him just fine.

You exemplify the worst of our fanbase right here. Can't praise one of our players after a fantastic goal without trashing another going through a rough period. Embarrassing.

I'm not trashing him. I like Martial and Rashford. I'm just identifying the hypocrisy of our fans. Martial has been the poorer player of the 2 this season and Rashford is getting the abuse. He's scored 4 goals already. Martial hasn't scored any yet (apart from in his own net)

Support our players. Personally think it's a lot of our plastic foreign fans who like to get on Rashford's back.

Imo it's pretty a common thing. Fans usually only watch their team. And watch other players highlights. So they tend to be more critical toward their own players.

But tbh I find the level of abuse toward Rashford quite abnormal. Some seems really hate the lad and can't wait for the first chance to jump on him. He's probably one of the most likable players in the football world. Very nice, humble, grounded. Our homegrown. Scored many important goals for us. Always work his socks off. It's really frustrating.

When he has too much time to think he can mess things up a lot BUT he has that magic in him, that most English attackers don't have. He has a unique skillset and can produce wonder goals so he has to play. He will always get a good tally. already on 6 G+A in 7 apps, despite people saying he has started rubbish and its time to burst his bubble. I can see why the young English lads like Jadon, look up to him. I bet he is well good in training, but sometimes the occasion gets to him in matches, yet he has enough talent to make some kind of impact in games. He reminds me of Nani

I agree. It’s a sad reality that a lot of plastic fans don’t like him because he’s English. It’s so bizarre, he’s a local lad, and homegrown players are a big part of Man Utd’s history.

it just points to fans that don’t understand the club.

you see people online abusing him for his initiative around school means. “Stick to football” etc, it’s beyond my comprehension.

Whilst so many people have done sweet FA during lockdown and this crisis. He’s done something great, and gets criticised for it.

One of the Liverpool players said recently that he might just be the first Man Utd player to get a standing ovation at Anfield when we have crowds back.

I’m embarrassed to be associated with a lot of our fanbase.

Seems like you’ve got a chip on your shoulder.

Completely agree, I find it so odd that you paint a target on your back by trying to be philanthropic with your spare time?

So proud of the lad, clearly a nice guy and believes in his cause.

That was a gem of a goal from Marcus. The real King of Paris. :)

However, apart from the goal he was very wasteful. He has to start converting these chances if he wants to break into that world class/elite player list. If he hadn't scored that goal, we'd all be moaning about how average he was last night. Hopefully, he kicks on from here.

I liked the self-awareness in his interview where he talked about bad decision making in the last third prior to the goal.

Seems like you’ve got a chip on your shoulder.

Or just bang on the money yet again perhaps?

Fans having a go at him all night were left with egg on their face Again. 4 goals now for Marcus. None for Martial. There's clearly an agenda.

I’ve seen about 4 posts from you making the same point, that all the people criticising Rashford are foreign Martial FC fanboys that hate Rashford because he’s English. Just seems like paranoia, I guarantee that a significant number of the ones criticising him are English themselves.

You’re using the term ‘Martial FC’ whilst saying we shouldn’t be criticising our players to praise another. Seems hypocritical to me. I wasn’t reading the Caf to be fair during the game, but the people I was watching the game with were equally critical of both players throughout the game.

I stand by what I said here. He has improved a bit since then and the pace seems to have come back though not the decisiveness. That said I am most impressed by his ability to dust himself off and work through a difficult period - it's a trait a lot of world class players possess. He was a constant threat and 4 goals in 7 games while not being especially impressive says a lot.

Spot on.

He seems to be expected to score every single half chance he gets. It’s quite ridiculous. Scored the winner with a fantastic goal, ran their back line ragged for 90 minutes, forced one fantastic save and another decent one after starting the break with a good pass too. He was great last night, and was a nightmare to play against. Yet he somehow get criticized for it.

A goal or assist every 80 minutes so far this season. Every 129 minutes in the league after his injury last season. But apparently he’s been terrible during this whole time and I’ve seen one even claim he doesn’t affect matches. :wenger:

He also apparently needs to be taking every single chance to be like the top players in the league like Salah. Salah who had a 20% conversion rate in the league last season, worse than Rashford. But somehow Rashford needs to be taking every chance to be like him.

He's a match winner, capable of moments of brilliance to win you the game.

He's not got the consistency of decision making that some top, top players have, but he's still young and got plenty of time to develop that, plus he's one of our own, which can't be overstated enough!

Improving his numbers every season, how can you not back him.

One thing I don't understand. Why people don't like him because he's English?

Next step for his development will be to just get that bit more killer instinct. When he sees space like he got on that chance he tried to pass for Martial, Fletcher and Rio were talking about it yesterday but that should be automatic go in for the kill and go for goal. By doing that, the defender will sooner commit and open up the space for the pass that it'll just be easier to decide either way.

Have no doubt that he'll get there with that, he's improved every single year and has developed so much as a player. I don't think he'll ever be a poacher, but he doesn't need to be. He's a Mane type, who can score 20+ goals a season and get loads of assists, come up in big moments while always being a threat playing off of a main striker. Really good to see him on the right yesterday too, thought he was terrific.

Spot on. People here are morons.

The best way to describe Rashford last night was that he was relentless. The amount of selfless running he did and his positional play was outstanding. He could have trashed the scoreline on his own but is shooting was slightly off key. Even then, he retained his self conviction and his late winner was a phenomenal strike. It's great for us that he is is great form right now, as Martial will be in a prolonged rut until his suspension is over.

I suspect Rashford is now acquiring himself a bona fide international reputation. There was a massive international audience watching last night: I wonder how the French fans now view him, given his exploits against Paris in last 2 games.

Because the same people slating Rashford aren't doing same to Martial. That's the whole point! I'm pointing out the hypocrisy.

I like both players and more than happy to have them both. Both go through bad patches of form too not just Rashford contrary to the Martial fan club on here.

Bruno gets praised for having a bad game but the bottle to come up with a goal or assist despite it but when Rashford does it it seems most people just want to criticize the overall performance. Yes he made a few bad decisions but overall he was a threat and an outlet all night and ended up scoring the decisive goal, I'm not sure what more you could really ask for. If he doesn't score at the end then sure, criticize away, but he did score and we won because of it.

And according to you they’re all foreign, plastic fans right?

There is a minority here that tend to slate Marcus and spare Anthony, and there’s another minority who most often praise Marcus and slash Anthony. Both groups are easily identified by there posts containg the words ‘... fan club’

Im surprised people saying the performance was shit. I reckon if Mbappe has the exact same performance, and scores, people on here would be saying he turns up when it matters and it was a class goal from a world class striker.
Rashford did try to be too unselfish at the beginning of the second half (when we had that 2 on 1) but ultimately he won us the game with a great finish (and he was dangerous all night).

Have we won all games (and hes scored) since he officially became MBE?
