Let me get this straight, he went to a pre-planned birthday party arranged by friends on his free time, and turned up for training the next day. Am I alone in failing to see the problem? ETH looks like a dinosaur disciplinarian to me calling that unacceptable.
Yep. Unless there's something more to the story that we don't know about, I do think ETH has overstepped the mark on this one. I've agreed with his previous disciplinary measures but this one seems significantly over the top.

He'll be back straight in the first team because our attack is god awful still, with or without him. If our season is to have any hope we need this guy back to at least half of his levels last season.

I think if his performances wouldn't be so much worse than last year, nothing would have happened. When Rashy was on his run, he showed what he was capabale of and got a new contract, sweet talk has to be over.
So you forfeit the right to free time when you're underperforming on your job? Have you ever cancelled a party after a cock-up at the office?

Feels like half of his goals last season were coming with him as striker. Last season pattern was Weghorst started as striker, then on 2nd half, Rashford moved there from LW.

Why not having him there, as clearly LW isn't working for him now, and our young striker is shooting blank?

Leave Rashford and Antony on the bench Wednesday night and watch us go

I thought Rashford & Bruno were the problem? Rashford didn't play today and we still served the same crap performance.

I would let Garnacho keep his place on wednesday though. Was our best performer today. So that's either bench or RW for Rashford.

There's more to the story, unfortunately - sure it'll come out in due course

I saw something on social media saying he's broken up with his missus and has been on the lash the last few months, any truth to it? Would certainly explain how he's playing anyway.

Pretty sure that's where he started at year and he looked like he was pouting because he wasn't in his favored lw spot. Was a disaster
I think he only played vs Wolves as the striker. And had the same issue as Hojlund: Absolutely no service.

But I agree, Garnacho should keep his place on the left for now. So thats either RW or CF for Rashford.

If there's any meritocracy at the club he'd be on the bench next game and have to fight his way back in

Spends all night in the club on Sunday. Injured by end of week. Almost like there's a reason footballers don't go out like they used to

I swear some of you don’t even remember how it used to be under Sir Alex. If we had a bad result, none of the players would dare to be seen at a party, let alone a club where alcohol is going to be involved.

He has played striker many times and looked poor.

You dont know much about being an athlete, do you? Your bricklayer job isnt the same as playing in the premier league. He has been terrible, really terrible and this do him zero favors. SAF wouldve done him after that

I meant this season. Last season he started to look better in the CF position and scored quited a lot of goals from there.

This season I only remember him vs Wolves playing in the CF position.

Oh yeah? What level of self control or sacrifice have you shown in recent years that might suggest you’re capable of becoming a monk for some extra cash?
Well, since you asked... completed my CFA charter last August. Over 1000 hours of study over a solid 3.5 year period while also working my full time job (as most people who pursue the qualification have to do).

I can't tell you how many family events, birthdays, night outs etc etc I missed to study and sit exams, and I'm sure as hell not earning a quarter of a mill a week after all that.

Tell me about it.

Standards around here are in the toilet.

Just play him as a striker
Garnacho has to play on the left

Agree. Play a two striker system. Hojlund needs support. Someone to work alongside. Seeing these rumors about us bringing in another striker in january to support Hojlund (e.g. taking his spot in the first eleven), I'd rather just try Rashford upfront together with him.

Brings back memories of that season Rooney suddenly dropped off a cliff after a great previous one.

Absolute bollocks. We saw in the Beckham documentary that he was driving down to London for hours and barely getting any sleep. Fergie managed to put a stop to the drinking culture throughout the club, but he would have had no clue what individual players were doing for the most part.

Im not defending Rashford, I have no idea if he was even drinking any alcohol, but to suggest that these things weren’t happening before social media and camera phones is laughable.

I hope you didn’t pop out for a few hours one night to meet some friends, people might of thought you didn’t care.

I don't want him anywhere near the squad the next while.

Yes we still played awful overall vs Fulham but Garnacho looked more incisive than Rashford has all season.

And how did Beckham's United career end up?

Only just found out about him going out after the City game. The guy has the same mentality as Lingard and Sancho, just doesn’t care about football enough.

He gets a better rep because he’s been a more impactful player and because of his work outside of football but ultimately he doesn’t have the mentality.
It was his birthday.

And how did Beckham's United career end up?

I’d say quite well considering he played for United for six years after he met posh spice and won every trophy going. Ferguson either didn’t know, or didn’t care, that Beckham was driving down to London after games and not sleeping early in their relationship. You can take your pick on which one it was.

Or he knew and it caused more and more tension as time went on ultimately causing a breakup in a relationship that's never been mended.

Pretty sure all of that is in the past for both. Beckham's never said that.

Rubbish. Their relationship was fine at the time. If he was as strict as the other poster was saying, he would have put a stop to it straight away if Beckham wasn’t getting any sleep.

Beckham was a fecking pro though. Sleep or no sleep he never let that effect him on the field.

When you're good, feel free to do whatever you like

ETH has had endless reasons to drop him and hasn't.

This wasn't one of them.

Another negative on ETH for me, he's slowly losing me.

I'm with you on this one Jev.
