We're a quarter into the season and he's not had a single good game yet. ETH gambling on him playing himself jnto for is gonna cost him his job

I didn't see a lack of effort or laziness at all today, just a lack of quality, little impact and just a very ordinary performance sadly :( .When he gets a new manager he'll have a good run of form probably and then it will go south again for a long time and then he'll pick up again. That's just how it is and I think it's how it will always be with this player. Too inconsistent to be elite.

He’s playing a bit like he did when he was “forced” to play with injuries under Ole. He doesn’t look himself at all.
What exactly is himself? The one goal every 3/4 games forward who doesn’t track back and makes the wrong decision most of the time? Just can’t be bothered watching these players anymore. Seen enough of them to know nothings going to change and the attitude of our highest paid player is probably the worst.

Are you implying that he is playing with injuries, or is he exhausted already?

He’s the perfect poster boy of the last ten years, goals and assists have papered over what’s largely been lazy, feckless performances littered with cheap giveaways and ego. It’ll give me some catharsis when he does eventually feck off having won nothing major with us, and rightly so because he’s nowhere near good enough to be winning major honours. He may well have been a United fan at some point, but somewhere down the line he stopped caring. £350k a week to back out of every single 50/50? What a joke. Ten Hag won’t be the first manager he’s helped get sacked and he certainly won’t be the last. He needs to go.
This side does remind me so much of that post invincibles Arsenal team: it flatters to deceive all the time and although part of me does feel bad for the stick Rashford gets, sometimes it is justified. He does sum us up really.

Signs big contract then checks out, it's not just Rashford though, the whole club has lost its way.

I think this happens with every player we overpay. They are delighted to take the money and the profile of senior player but they quickly realise the pressure is too much and they are basically being set up to fail by the owners who sprinkle mediocre players and facilities and stadium around them and a form of apathy sets in. Even Rooney was alluding to this in Fergies final years. Standards have dropped majorly. We step aside and let our competition take the young players who are serious about winning and becoming the best and go for players who seem to only want to come here for the wrong reasons or are on the way down.

Martial new contract : bust
Rashford new contract : bust so far
Pogba : bust after an initial period where he really looked up for it.
Sanchez: bust
Di Maria: bust
Sancho : bust
Ronaldo: bust
Greenwood new contract : bust
DDG: highest paid keeper in the world , bust
Maguire: highest fee for a defender in the world, bust
Varane: super player in his prime, rejected us, now injury prone with nothing left to prove and on a monster contract , bust
Casemiro: cost Madrid 20 million and won everything with them in his prime. We double his wages and pay them 3 times what they paid for him while he is on the way down, madness. Bust.

And so on.

The club has absolutely no leadership or accountability beyond the manager and the players can get him sacked if he rubs them up the wrong way. So we have a squad full of players who haven’t delivered who are basically running the club and are protected because the owners won’t ship them out no matter how often they fail. No wonder it feels like everyone who is serious about winning ends up embarrassed frustrated or just doesn’t want to come and work here. It’s crazy. The tail is wagging the dog.

He’s playing so bad he must be injured. Or exhausted. Or who the feck knows?

He is capable of playing much better. He’s done it in spells of a few months at a time but that’s plenty long enough to demonstrate his ability and productivity when playing at or close to his best. His performances this season are reminiscent of his sub-optimal spells when he was either injured or knackered or both.

His individual moments aren't turning into goals to give him the confidence to play better. This is pretty much the difference between his performances this season and last.

Must admit I haven’t seen the injury excuse popped up here yet this season, it’s quite refreshing to see this is starting to come back again.

Our very own Emmanuel Adebayor, plays shit for ages then has 18 months left on his contract so plays well for a couple of months to get a new contract then goes back to his usual shit performances.

I’m not saying he is injured am I? If he is he shouldn’t be playing. I said he’s playing as bad as if he’s injured. You tell me why he can play brilliant for 6, 7, 8 months and now looks a shadow of that player. Let’s assume he isn’t injured. What’s up with him?

Dangle a carrot in front of him (the incentive of a new bumper contract), and his motivation levels are through the roof (30 goals return last season).

Give Rashford the carrot (the bumper contract) before the start of this season, and his motivation has disappeared completely.

Seen it before with the likes of Luke Shaw... starts playing out of his skin, next thing you know he signs a bumper contract and then returns to crap.

When ten hag gets sacked, this should be printed on his letter of dismissal.

Wait, this was a real quote? I genuinely thought it was a parody account or something. That's beyond delusional at this point.

Later in that press conference he refers to him as "Rashy". it was pathetic when Ole did it and it's just as bad with Ten Hag.

Get mates your own age Heisenberg!

Why do we have to come up with an excuse when he doesn’t perform? Is it really unthinkable after watching Rashford over the years that he actually doesn’t consistently deliver over the course of a season?

Why's everyone blaming Rashford? It's not his fault he's shit.
 :nono:

I just don't know how English footballers are raised by their parents nowadays, but it is very obvious that there is a severe lack of maturity among many of them. His performances are the epitome of such lack of maturity, right there on the same levels as Jadon Sancho.

He will never get dropped. His poor form is not only detrimental to the team but getting in the way of a proper chance for Garnacho.

He's one of if not biggest problems in this team. Absolutely baffling how he doesn't get dropped. We are going absolutely nowhere with him being a starter.

Needs to be dropped. He’s not a team player and also not clinical enough when it matters so can’t rely on him to do nothing but score or make an assist from one opportunity in 90 minutes.

For me, thats an easy question. His performances last year were overstated. Scoring as many as he did last year is undoubtedly great and is nothing I would want to take away from him but his performances weren't that much different to this year. Since Ole days he seems to have lost most of his football IQ which ends up in him making stupid decisions like running into blind alleys, shooting when a pass is on and passing when a shot is on. Granted, he had endless confidence last year and some of that would really help but he is plateauing for a while. And he seemingly is surrounded by people that make him think, he is the actual shit. I have no other explanation how he turned from that dilligent runner and creator with the great finish into an in-behind-merchant who thinks he can dribble like Ronaldo.

If only!

They were always second best against the top teams but they regularly played great football and scored a ton of goals against relegation fodder.

There is a simple formula at United:

Good Season = Fat New Contract
Next Season - Abysmal, undropable, Sulky
Beyond Season - unsellable due to Fat New Contract

Looks miserable on the pitch. Which makes me wonder why he doesn't leave if he hates it so much here

I never thought I'd say this but...

..I'd sell him

I have no issue selling for a good offer. He's a good player on his day and I don't think this bad form will last forever but at the same time he's not really indispensable or unreplaceable. We can definitely do better than him.

It’s been reiterated numerous times in this player thread, Rashford’s excellent goal scoring spell lat season lasted just under 3 months.
That form was absent for the rest of the season.
Prior to the World Cup break, he was inconsistent to poor, but had good moments.
Then he hit that post WC golden patch for a couple of months, but after the Carabao Cup final, he returned to abysmal crap for the remaining 3 months of the season.
He was no better then than he is now.

It was the same in the 2019/20 season, with the Covid break, when teams played behind closed doors.
He and Martial had a great goal scoring run, lasting for a few months.
We all thought he was fantastic at the time, but Rashford faded badly towards the end of that extended season and just gave up playing.
He was an absolute disgrace in that Europa League semi-final against Sevilla, but Ole wouldn’t sub him and we effectively played most of the match with 10 men.

The team can’t and shouldn’t carry a player like that, just because they have the occasional purple patch, especially when they’re a lead weight around the teams neck, the rest of the time.

Trouble is, now he’s signed that bumper contract, we are stuck with him.

.

We’ve had our share of shit players over the years, strikers terribly out of form, players that can’t make the step up, players plagued by injuries, etc…but the majority still gave it their all for 90 minutes no matter what.

This guy though.

My Rashy.
