I don't get the comments of brain-dead and no IQ, because last season he was playing these passes and putting in crosses. It just seems like he's got this "I'll do it all myself" mentality. The last 3 games he's had to shoot or tried to run through defenders when a pass is on.

Erm no he wasn't, he made less than 30 crosses in the whole of last season.

Seriously? Source? I know we played most of the season without a proper number 9 but even still, that seems incredibly low. Although I have absolutely no idea what the average number of crosses for a forward in the top 6 is.

Very unlikely. He started senior football very early. He has been doing this for far too long. He is set in his ways. He also seems fairly stubborn.

I am afraid Rashy will be done at the top level before he hits 30. It I were a risk-aware DOF, I would be offloading him while he can still be sold for big money and replacing him with somebody younger / more developmental.
That’s what City or Liverpool would do, look at Mane and Sterling being offloaded, unfortunately because we have no footballing knowledge in senior management and he’s a local lad he’ll be here for the rest of his career and still playing brain dead football.

We can talk about the poor decision making. Poor passing etc. The biggest issue is his refusal to work hard for his teammates.
From letting play through, to his refusal to get out of a slight jog without the ball, he’s as lazy as any player as I’ve seen in a United shirt lately.
He is jogging like a semi retired CR7. With CR7 at least you knew he still had some residual magic dust up his sleeves and he still managed smart runs.

Doesn’t seem in a good place mentally. Head down and straight down the tunnel at the final whistle, drove off in a foul mood and crashed his car. I wonder if we'll see him next game? Could be the next Sancho situation loading

Should have passed to casa for an easy goal. Story of his life…

Rashford was 12 yards out in the centre of the goal, with time enough to get a good shot off. The pass to Casemiro would have had to have been well timed and the defender closest to Cas was close enough to get across and make it difficult, plus Casemiro would have had to fire it in from an angle. I don’t think it’s clear-cut (although with the benefit of replays and slow-mos the pass probably was just about the correct call). I doubt it would be being analysed or criticised if Hojlund had done the same thing.

That’s up to him, as a 39 year old now I tend to be more thoughtful in the things I do compared to when I was 26 and am more open to change. I just hope he gets that quicker when he is at his physical peak because he could be a great player. It just doesn’t seem to have clicked with him what he needs to do to get there.

He’ll always have fantastic moments and score some fantastic goals but a lot of the things he tries are low percentage chances and as skilled as he is there is a large element of luck in a lot of the things he tries and that’s just not sustainable.

A lot of the times if he just made one more pass and changed his position he’d find himself in a lot better scoring positions taking on higher percentage chances hopefully resulting in more consistent goal scoring from him.

If he also instead of scoring 30 goals a season dropped to 15 but his performances were better and helped the team perform better that would be an improvement for me,because it’s all about the team, and the most likely scenario of the team performing well with his help is more goal scoring opportunities for himself.

So hopefully these things click for him before it’s too late and he is just remembered as another talent that didn’t live up to his potential.
You can't seriously compare yourself and a professional footballer when it comes to decision making. They have a split second to make calls unlike you.

We have been saying this for years about him that his decision making will improve. It hasn't. In fact it's literally is the same as it was when he was younger.

People made hopeful comments about lukaku and his first touch too.

Yeah I had no issues with him shooting at th time it happened. Pictures can always looks deceiving. I do think there are times he needs to get his head up especially after his words before the game of working with hoijlund.

It does sometimes get frustrating because when he has a one on one he will look to pass, when there are five men he seems to want to run and dribble or shoot.

His problem is he's been coached and advised poorly from a young age.

He's a good finisher, he's good at taking on players when he has room to maneuvere and he has explosive pace, but the rest of his game is average at best.

The problem is, he was talked up as being Mbappe-level and compared to young Rooney/Ronaldo, and the club encouraged this, so desperate to promote an Academy lad at a time when the club needed good news stories.

It might be too late to undo now, but he needs to go right back to basics. He's at his best when he makes direct runs in behind off the ball and moves the ball on quickly when he receives it.

His worst games are when he's too involved, dropping deep to get on the ball or taking too many touches when he receives it.

There's also no excuse for his poor work rate and body language. Running at 100% is the absolute minimum requirement for a United player.
This post is spot on. Agree with every word of it.

Hopefully nobody got hurt and it is just a minor material damage.

The thing that angers me the most with Rashford is he is supposed to be this Manc player who has grown-up united through and through, loved the club, fights for the jersey, understands the pride a player should have to play for the club and more than anything understands what the fans demand from a player. Which makes his jogging about, lack of effort, lack of fight, lack of bravery even more embarrassing. What compounds it is that you see some players witn no links to the area or just arriving having more fight and desire than Rashford like Bruno, Case, Licha, Garnacho, even Reguillon and Onana.

I think an uncomfortable potential truth is that when Roy Keane talked about players letting the manager down and downing tools, one of the first players to do so is Rashford and that begs the question 1) can you count on a player like that and 2) do we even want a player like that.
1.) No
2.) you can’t.
I don’t trust him. When things are not going well, he’s one of the first players to sulk.

We can blame coaching all we like but he's not got the IQ of a tree, he should know running, working hard, pressing and giving a shit is needed..

He shouldn't need instruction to look up in every scenario, to track his man in every scenario.

If only he was coached to not run into a forest of defenders when there's several players around him who could be put through if only someone taught him how to use the ball.

Sorry, he's coached. All that is on him

Rashford is a problem because he isn’t good enough to justify his shoddy general play and lack of effort. I’m surprised none of the managers we’ve had have been able to push him to learning to put in a shift. We wonder why we are an individualistic team but when your best attacker likes playing on his own, that’s what you get.

Thing is, how come no manager has forced him that putting in a proper shift is mandatory? I mean Mo Salah is 5 times the footballer and works 5 times as hard as well. It’s bizarre - going by his off the ball effort you’d think he’s peak Ronaldo or Messi

He is morphing into Valencia. He will sprint ahead. Then come to a complete stop trying to beat the defender. Give up then turn back and pass back to our defender.

Man management. That's potential responsible. He's become an arrogant, lazy, petulant, sulky and selfish player lauded and praised well beyond his abilities largely due to his off the field ventures. His home grown status and admirable PR, and maybe his nationality, means there's been a huge reluctance to come to that obvious conclusion

United are on a crusade to keep every possible journalist, twitter ITK, and sports panellist in a job with endless stories to talk about.

Well done Rashy!

Not sure why he just stopped running. Did well to keep up but gave up when it really mattered

He’s just a symptom of what has been a dysfunctional organisation for far too long, he’s still probably our most important player. He’s not perfect by any means but you can only function in this kind of disorganisation for so long.
It’s simple phychology that if you want to change someones behaviour you have to make it easy for them to adjust or it’ll be too difficult and they’ll eventually abandon the practice before too long.
Asking someone who’s practically a striker and your best goalscorer to consistently track runners into the defensive areas is a practice in futility.

So many excuses are made for Rashford, it's Mourinhos fault, it's Rangnicks fault, Ole isn't a coach, he can't play on the left he needs to play through the middle, actually he isn't a number 9 he has to play on the right, he can't play on the right he needs to play on the left, he needs Shaw in the team, something must be going on in his head, he is carrying a back injury 3 years ago..

He is just shite at this level, if he was at Everton he would be amazing for them as that's his level. Playing for a team that supposedly wants to win EVERYTHING he isn't good enough. But but but he scored 30 last season, he had a great season. No, no he didn't he was good in the month leading up to the world cup and for 2 months after the world cup. PURPLE PATCH. Almiron also had a purple patch, it's not a big deal. We won the League cup in February, he signed his bumper contract and he has done nothing of note since.

Standards are so low at United at the moment though that a lot of fans think he is the answer. Go back and watch Ryan Giggs highlights to remind yourself of what a proper United winger looks like.

He stopped running because Reguilon is pointing at the man with the ball (pause that clip at 4 seconds), telling Rashford to cover him and that Reguilon will track the runner. Hence why Rashford is then throwing his hands in the air wondering why Reguilon has caused confusion and then hasn’t followed the runner.

Got it, thank you.

He doesn’t need any excuses made for him. He scored a third of our goals last season, what do people expect us to do?

Like him or not, we need him now, and we’ll probably not be in a position to replace himany time soon.

Overall i thought he was somewhat better yesterday, more often than not he challenged for headers when the ball was there to be won, normally he just stands there. Players won’t always make the right decision, the vast majority of attacking players will always attempt the shot in the situation where a picture showing the overview would indicate Casemiro is the better option. What you want however, is that more often than not he makes the right decision in the buildups.

For me, the main problem has always been, and continues to be, that he first and foremost thinks about scoring himself. Sane will constantly look up to get an overview, should he he go for an early pass, hold on to the ball etc. Rashford is generally just focused on what’s in front of him. Which is insanely frustrating considering the amount of times we get the ball to him in key areas on the pitch. It’s the sort of scenarios top clubs more often than not score from, while we are currently miles away from taking advantage. Getting him to find that balance between when he should go for individual glory and, the vast majority of times when he should pass the ball to someone else, combined with his ability to get on the ball in key areas on the pitch, and i reckon he’ll consistently perform at a very high level throughout an entire season.

From the video it just looks like Reguilon is pointing at the player Rashford is originally covering, it makes no sense whatsoever to attempt to swap as the Burnley player is already making a run in behind Reguilon.

I am led to believe he has split up with his fiancée again a few months back after being caught playing away which would be a first on the pitch this season :) This is similar to when they last split up a couple of years ago and his performance level dipped horrendously until they got back together and announced there engagement. They have/had been long term sweethearts since school and apart from being stunning is not your usual wag type.

On watching him this season i can not believe how he seems absolutely gassed after a sprint and blowing out his a**e with hands on knees

With regards to the road traffic accident and passing the location every day i don't know how it was possible to take out the traffic lights on a straight road unless he was driving like a k**b

He very clearly is pointing at the player with the ball. If he is trying to point at the runner he needs his arm checked out. He even takes a couple of steps to start to cover the runner.

If you don’t think Rashford understood Reguilon was going to follow the runner, why do you think he stops? There is either significant confusion (which has to be on the defender as the player who should be in control in that scenario) or Reguilon just messes up. Either way, it is not an example of Rashford being lazy as seems to be being suggested.

Do you think Reguilon could mark 2 players cause it makes no sense to chase someone and just stop either. He’s lazy, and when he doesn’t score goals (this is why g+a stats are misleading) he is wasting the ball time and time again. Just wouldn’t get away with it at a top club.

Not sure he'll start and/or play in the CC but for sure, as long as he is healthy he will start

Reguilon obviously makes a decision to follow the runner then changes his mind. However, by that stage he has caused Rashford to stop as Rashford believes that he is going to track, so neither follows him in time.

I’m not having a go at Reguilon by the way. He’s started really well and it’s a split second call when he’s also getting used to playing with Rashford as well. My only point is that it’s most definitely not an example of Rashford failing to track back.

Yes it is, no way Reguilon is covering both players and it's his player to follow. He cannot be arsed to defend and track runners and he puts in zero defensive effort.

Navigation system told him to pass the car in front, but the instructions were unclear to him.

The FB calls the shots. He clearly directs Rashford to swap with him. It's a terrible call but from Rashford's perspective if he doesn't try and do it, they might both be chasing the runner and leave the other attacker free to run directly at the goal/pick a pass.

It's a miscommunication. It happens. They've not played together for long. Both deserve a bollocking for it, but it's not evidence of either of them being crap or lazy.

i think one of his main issues is that he doesn’t make split second decisions  And people make split second decisions everyday with a lot more on the line than a football player. So yeah you can easily compare the two.

The point anyway is that as I’ve grown older I’ve become more open to other suggestions and trying them out other than just sticking to what I feel like doing. So for me his decision making can still improve and I actually feel after the Brighton game he has made a slight effort to try and pass more but he just isn’t making the right choices when it matters. Hopefully that comes.

700k car!!

That's what 2 weeks worth of jogging around doing not a lot will get you.

Anyway, here's former United defender Paul Parker's take:

"I was criticising Rashford when he scored goals because I wanted him to provide more for the team. Now, he is not scoring goals anymore, and his decision-making is still poor".

"Everyone was saying that he was winning Man United games, but the only thing they could come up with is that he was scoring goals".

"It has taken people a while, but now they are finally seeing that he is not contributing to anything. He should be because he is a fast winger with decent technical abilities, but in fact, he is just a selfish player who lives on the back of being good in February".

"I think that Man United rushed in too quickly to give him this huge contract. Overall, he has been delivering a poor return throughout his Man United career. That's a fact."

“I think the fans are tired of seeing him faking an injury all the times he gets tackled. They want to see him get up, chase back and get the ball back".

"What he is doing is something you would expect to see in a schoolyard from a petulant child. You wouldn't expect it to happen at Old Trafford. Not in a million years".

"But he does that every single time, and it shows me that he might not be a player for Man United after all. He needs to change his game and his attitude."

If you are quoting Paul Parker, then you might as well start quoting Gabby Agbonlahor (sadly as I loved Parker as a player for us). He’s endlessly negative about United. Here’s a couple of Paul Parker’s previous quotes:

“He [Weghorst] has everything about him that a player like Anthony Martial doesn't," Parker told Soccernews. "Martial comes out and wears gloves. I'm not saying that we are the warmest country in the world but come on… We are in May.”

"Bruno Fernandes is the kind of person, if the boat was sinking, he would be the first person to jump out of it. That says it all in my opinion.”

In real time to be fair I didn’t see the pass option but looking at the replay it’s clear he should pass it in fairness. If he doesn’t pass he has to score and that’s too often the case with him.
