Please don't spin my words, we all show our emotions differently and yes call it old fashioned but I adore players which are silent and don't take every opportunity to post something on IG, FB, X, Snap etc. He would get much more respect. We all know his qualities and he hit the maximum, that's it.

I'm not spinning your words you are just speaking stupid ones.

You adore players that are silent  Give me a break. You're literally just inventing complete shite to criticise one of our players

Happy for him to have this moment of celebration. His pass in the buildup to the first goal was excellent. Don’t see anything wrong with showing emotion either.

I would still sell him though. Not good enough on and off the ball and paid a fortune.

Not winning a footrace with Walker is no shame, he could barely outrun Stones.
He has lost a lot of pace in the past year it seems. That blistering pace seems gone, which means his timing and on the ball play will have to reach his previous levels.

He did put in a shift on Saturday and his pass for Garnacho before the 2nd goal was sublime. Even his harshest critics couldn't but be moved by the emotion he showed after the game.

I think a move away from Old Trafford might be the best thing for all parties. For whatever reason, he looks like he's playing with the weight of the world on his shoulders. A fresh start in a new league might invigorate him like it has for Sancho for example.

Plus let's face it, the seemingly endless debates about Rashford's form and whether he should be an automatic starter or not has become a distraction for the team. I think everyone needs a fresh start from it.

It's true not getting the best of Walker isn't a sign of a bad player, but let's not pretend the list of defenders he has got the better of this season is particularly long. This is how low the floor is for him. Consensus is he didn't do anything to trouble any of the defenders and it meets the threshold for "did well".

Superstar wages, fresh out of youth team expectations. This is the problem. We already have higher expectations of Mainoo and Garnacho.

Call me an ageing cynic if you want but this "let's post my tears on Insta to show how much I care about the club" is complete guff in my book.
We all know his backstory so let's see his supposed love for the club shine through in his efforts on the pitch week in week out during the season.
We know form can be lost temporarily and that's fine but what's not fine is ill discipline and lack of application.
He's 26 and on a huge contract for goodness sake, not a naive kid trying to make his way.
To be honest, every time I see him in a Utd shirt these days my mind says "nah, not for me".
If he's been put on the available list and ends up being sold then he's only got himself to blame.
Had the world at his feet and has virtually thrown it all away.

Reading that I'm asking myself if he agreed together with Southgate to not being called up. He really seems to need a Rest mentally and he definitely wouldn't have got that while going to the Euros.

He had Walker done once and unfortunately had a poor touch. If he takes that across Walker then Walker has next to no chance of getting back and around him to make a challenge.

I do think he played alright actually, and the fact he had kept going at Walker made Walker worry about him .
If you watch the 2nd goal, one of the main reasons Mainoo gets all that space is because Walker is worried about Rashford.

He checks on his position multiple times in that build up and you can see he is torn on what to do. Leave Marcus and cover Kobbie or stick with Rashford. Thankfully he is more preoccupied with Rashfords position that he doesn’t go to Kobbie until it’s too late.

I can totally understand it. You’ve got a fan channel with shedloads of subscribers saying the crying was PR etc.
i dont think many doubt the crying and emotion was genuine. People can see it, leave it at that. It was the insistence of using that pic by his PR

Anyway, the guy uses social media to announce he is coming off social media :wenger:

Well when you’ve got channels with huge influence on thousands of kids saying shit like that, to me it’s understandable to give some back.

Anyway, he’s right. Players and fans should stick together through thick and thin.

"To the ones that didnt". Just cant help it can he

Seems a pretty fair comment. Even on here we’ve got people saying he faked an injury against Coventry because he was too scared to take a penalty and people seemingly suggesting his crying after a huge win wasn’t genuine. Can you imagine the type of nonsense he sees on the Wild West of social media?

Anyway, hopefully this is the first step in him making sure he’s completely ready for next season. Whatever issues he’s had this season need to be left behind and he needs to ensure his focus is fully on returning to his best.

That tweet is pure opium for the fanboys. Rashford doesn't sell his success, he sells his "struggles".

He should have come off socials a lot sooner IMO. But it's the right decision to get him back on track

He's massively misunderstood as this lazy arrogant person by many. They're not even close to being correct.

It's obvious that he's not enjoying his football and he's had a poor season. And when you don't enjoy what you do, it's difficult to have the motivation or energy to do something. Anyone who's not enjoying a job or suffers from depression would tell you that. Why he's not happy could be a personal thing, could be the performance levels of both him and the team itself have just sapped his enthusiasm. I believe he definitely cares about the club, and takes criticism more personally than he probably should, because he's hurt by the criticism and remarks about a manufactured attitude problem by fans who don't really have the maturity to understand mental health.

He's had a few issues with the clubbing etc but never seems to have disagreements with the manager, just accepted his punishment and moved on, so I highly doubt ETH sees any issues with his behavior. Hopefully he has a few months off and comes back in a Maguire-esque renaissance. He needs it

Should probably make the social media blackout permanent too, but maybe that's something he'll realize over the coming months.

Just realised he’ll be with us on pre season

He’ll surely be the most high profile player we take on tour? Basically be him and a bunch of kids won’t it?

'To the ones that didn’t just remember at United, we always stick together.'

Yeah, I still remember when you didn't stick with United and decided to go on a piss-up in Belfast instead and lied to get out of training. Plus you have still to this day failed to apologise once to fans for this fiasco.

Moron.

Interesting whether the fans who stick up for Ten Hag also support Rashford right now or do they want him sold? Or is that leeway only reserved for the manager? You’d think Rashford would be cut slack considering what he’s done in prior seasons, especially since the manager’s last season is being used to justify a catastrophic season.

And the changing room has been fractured for about 5 years

It’s sad but true at this point. There was no need to announce his break except to garner some sympathy.

He definitely needs the break so I don’t disagree but he loves a sob story our Marcus.

Definitely the main reason why he's been awful this season and lost his place in the England team has been fans with the nerve to point out his deficiencies and who aren't forthcoming with their effusive praise about his use of social media.

For those bastards even the upcoming black and white photos of him sweating a lot during pre-season will not be enough for them to overlook his understandably half-arsed performances. Pure hate.

Everything is inside your head, always a victim, always pointing out someone else fault, I wish you everything well Marcus and most of your 12y old followers, and dear God please take him far away from Old Trafford. Whenever he opens his mouth or post, its always something amazingly stupid and the hate is only growing towards him.

The idea "real fans" are the ones that tolerate his nonsense. He wouldn't have got more than a handful of starts this year if Sir Alex was 15 years younger. He would have been hooked off, chewed up and spat out for just one half of football where he sauntered lightly around the field, not the 32 matches this season where that accurately sums up his contribution for 90 minutes. There's seemingly zero introspection, responsibility or determination to do better.

It's all us.

What a guy.

Under Sir Alex, Rashford would have been amongst the best players in the league. Fergie knew how to get the best out of players, he would have given the right guidance to Marcus.

I think they're saying putting the crying on his Instagram was PR. Which obviously it is. Otherwise why else do that?

I'm pretty sure he said that after the match when they showed him crying on the pitch. So is it always PR when a player says they love the club etc. on socials?

What does a post like this add to the forum? As newbie posts go this just might be one of the weirdest....

I'm honestly baffled about how many excuses fans are coming up with for him.
  • Maybe he is getting back from an injury
  • Maybe he has mental issues
  • Maybe he is missing Shaw
  • Maybe his girlfriend left him
  • Maybe the position does not suit him
The cold fact is he is not willing to run during games, he does not want to challenge for the ball, has a low tolerance for pain. And this is not been the case now, rather, for 2 of the last 3 seasons. You move him on the right, and he drops his shoulder and his attitude is not good. Top this off with his total lack of awareness of when to go party, like on the evening of a 0-3 thrashing, or to go to Belfast and report sick in the morning, and you have the fans questioning your commitment to the club you love.

Every time the criticism about him intensifies, here comes a PR piece. And I all want from him is to fight for every ball in the game. I don't need to see you cry on Insta, I need to see you do your best for your boyhood club. Full and engaged 90 minutes will show to the fans much more than 10 PR texts.

Seems to need a mentality reset quite often.
in any case, as long as he’s a United player, I hope he’s at his best.

Love Rashford. Hope he gets a good rest and builds up to pre-season properly and comes back great for next season.

I have exactly the same opinion. I see him as the Scholes/Giggs/Neville of this generation and want him to do well and stay his full career here.
