Am I the only one that wonders where he could have been if he didn't have his development stunted during the ole / ralf era ?

185cm could be categorised to tall player in football
Ya, he improved a lot this season with his speed and power. Hope he can finally clear his back injury.

I thought he is taller

Feck me, god knows why he moves like a 2,0m guy.

I remember reading "250+ games, 23+ years old, 6+ years of experience, he won't improve bla bla bla" and more nonsense, fast forward a year or 2 and we have much more improved Rashford and I'm not talking about goals scored. He has improved his headers, his weak foot and it's there for all to see. He is taking shots, playing crosses with this left foot and he is timing his jumps very well and anticipating crosses very well this season.

20+ goals in 3/4 seasons and this season he has 29 goals + assists, that would make three 30+ goals, assists season in last 4. Not bad for a kick and run footballer.
Haters have been quiet for some time.

He’ll hit 30 goals and 10 assists which is very good.

I think we should be playing him as a striker until the end of the season.

I'm an armchair psychology analyzer and I think Ten Hag's words about how there will always be difficulties but you should never stop trying and that you need to suffer in order to win really woke him up. Seems like he was slapped with a dose of truth and accepted it. This Rashford is the unlocked Rashford. Yes he'll have bad games but I think he won't regress back. He is more mature now playing under a manager he likes.

Who was his primary hater on this thread? His name started with an ‘M’ if I remember

Haters have been quiet for some time.
I don’t think any fans hated him. Just rightly frustrated with his form, final 3rd output and decision making.

He’s changed all of that and now rightly being praised by everyone

Some of the posts really looked like there's hate for the player.
Even when he would have a good game there were posts like - I wont ever forgive him his bad form and similar crazy stuff.

There was definitely hate for the guy.

They said they couldn’t stand him and were very aggressive. They were dreaming he left the club than ever doing good for us. Some talked in such a deathly manner it was disgusting.

Some of the others like me were saying No and just kept our mouth shut until he started/restarted scoring.

surely trolls, can’t imagine any real fan will have genuine hate for a player.
God knows there are still a couple of players that frustrate the hell out of me but i wouldn’t go on to say i hate them.
Then again there are some weirdos out there

Yes and it's interesting how little they need to come back. Even this year when Marcus is doing great, one maybe a bit worse game and they crawl out of the woodwork.

It's cafe after all. :D

His decision making has been absolutely great this season - assists, key passes and pre-assists all over the place playing sometimes like he is Sancho in the Bundesliga and people still talk about his decision making as average to low.

For a goal scoring machine it’s absolutely great.

Not to mention how he added headers to his game. He's scoring those like there's nothing too it. Surely he's been working with Benni?

May be we have a striker with us and don't need to spend big on summer. Sign someone like Kvaratskheila for left wing .

Get a back up to play as forward.

Garnacho will soon be ready to start games. Kid looks so promising.

Exactly.
He is a very all rounded player.

Who knows maybe he gets some games at ST and he learns a bit of back to goal technique as well from experience.

Really pleased he's got his mojo back. It seems playing through injury and having shite managers for two years wasn't good for him or most of the squad. Never really had doubt in his ability to become a great player, the signs have always been there but now he's being properly coached you can see he's improving by the week and he also has some distance to go before he reaches his peak. I think we'd all be gutted if he played for a rival.

Agree. Rashford is an elite CF. Better than Osimhen, Vlahovic ecc. And Kvaratskhelia will be the best player of the word together with Mbappe and Haaland.
Kvaratskhelia on the left, Rashford CF, Antony on the right (or Greenwood if he returns). This is the best attack of the word.

I've probably posted this about five times already, but what really makes him so special, is that all his goals just seem to be really important. There is very little stat-padding in there. Out of all his goals this season, I could basically only find one that wasn't either an opening goal or critical for the result - his goal for 3-0 in the league win over Bournemouth. Perhaps this is over-analyzing, but he does seem to have a knack for scoring the big goals.

Would be interested to see his breakdown of goals at LW vs CF this season, feels like he always scores when he goes up front.

I guess the genuine question now is whether we think he can do it as the main man, or do we still need a CF? With the emergence of Garnacho, and with Sancho and Antony, it seems we're stacked in the wide forward position. I think Rashford is better from the left, but we're looking to blast a fortune on a 30 goal striker, when it seems we already have one?

Do we need a 30+ goal striker and Rashford also hitting those numbers to up that goal tally? Can Antony, Sancho, Garnacho and Bruno also chip in with enough across the season?

Maybe it means that we can now target maybe a younger and more raw talent like Sesko, and not have to break the bank on Osimhen? I wonder does Rashford's form change our transfer plans at all...

I wonder what type of forward we'll target to continue to get the best out of Rashford. Right now our transition play is amazing and he is the primary outlet and goalscorer.

I don't think he'll work that well with an out and out goalscorer .. prefer someone like Jesus or Firmino and rely on Antony, Rashford, Bruno to bring the goals.

Its the reason I fancy Kane because he can link up and yet score goals.

Yup same, I think Kane / Rashford is effectively Kane / Son. We know it works. Just the age + big money move is something I'm against. Will be 30 next year: 100M+ fee + 15-16M / yr in wages for the next 4 years at least.

I think it had to happened for him to grow. It wasn’t just Ole or Ralf. He was motivated then, and there were all these distractions about his personal life, and Pogba and Lingard around the club. Ronaldo too.

It is no coincident that things improve once we have players with better mentality in, get rid of distractions and get in a coach who focus on football. It is a convergence of factors and most importantly he has to want it himself. So kudos to him.

If Rashford can keep getting a variety of goals up front then I'd love to see that and Garnacho on the left, he's too good to hold back.

I remember in the summer people here were saying we wouldn’t even be able to sell for £50/60m.

In excellent form and I can see him becoming a 30+ goal forward for a few seasons.

Not a centre forward. We really need Martial desperately.

I suspect we should have sold him to PSG when we had the chance.

Second quote from September after he’d just taken Liverpool apart and set up the winner against Leicester.

He is starting to look more comfortable every time he's moved centrally. I gotta be honest I never thought that he could play that role, but in games v Palace, Arsenal and Leeds he has looked excellent when moved inside, and scored in them all when playing as the centre forward, great to see.

 I am clean with my Rashford belief... Never waivered

To be fair, the post quoted is hardly testament to sharing the type of view I had referenced. In the same arguments about whether we’d get no more than 50m, my counter argument was that he’d easily sell for 100m.

Eh i don't blame people for questioning last season and getting to a point where we may need a fresh start each. I disagreed as I was firmly in the boat of "last season was a shit show from all and no player would have done well", and Rashford especially had mitigating circumstances. At the same time, of course he isn't the best possible player available in his position so yes you could always upgrade.

My logic always was you would need to spend over 100m to replace him, and you still wouldn't guarantee someone as good as what he could do if he got back in form as we see now. So it never made sense. And that's without getting into the character aspects, what he does off the pitch, him being a life long United lad... Some might not care about that, but it definitely means something. It doesn't make you immune from replacement but when you can score 20+ goals as a left winger and always step up in big games, then you're pretty irreplaceable in my eyes.

I'm not ashamed to say I waivered. When a player's form is that bad for as long as it was I think it's natural to be questioning them. Especially when it's a starter that is a central pillar in the team. If you build a team around a player that is supposed to be a star player but their genuinely good performances and contributors are rare, why wouldn't your trust in them be tested.

I'm also extremely happy that he's proving me wrong. I don't have a vendetta against any player. My opinions on virtually any player are flexible.

I agreed with you mate. There were times last season where I did wonder whether he had come to the end of the road at United due to mental reasons, but not that he was a rubbish player. If he were to be sold, I’d always expected it to be for in and around 9 figures, but I did wonder if it would be for the best of all for him to go and seek fresh motivation.
