Obviously Messi winning the world cup or Mbappe scoring a hattrick in the Worldcup Final.
Rashford could score 60 until the end of the season and wouldnt have a chance imo.
Really? Thought it was a seasonal thing than winners of a single tournament. Messi hasnt been that great for psg has he?

This season Messi has been very good unfortunately. He has almost 30 g/a in 25 games. That plus the world cup and maybe 1 or 2 other trophies should give him the edge before anyonme else.

I think he should be given a run in the number nine position, his movement in the box has come on leaps and bounds aswell as has his aerial finishing and hold up play. We have plenty of options in the wide posistions but not much in the CF position, every time he gets moved there in game he scores.

Struggled to make an impact out wide today but as soon as he went central his pace and movement gave Leeds lots of problems.

Spectacular improvement. His biggest weakness was his heading, now it's one of his assets. I don't know where that came from, he was hopeless at them before.

Glad I never waivered in my support of him and never lost faith! Love him. Didn't see him hitting developing the headers like he has, great to see. The best part is you just know there is so much more to come too. He's been class, and that's been playing in an attack where the other 2 members have been more or less irrelevant to our attack this season. Once we get a settled attack, where the others are both fit and firing... He can step it up even more.

Imo atm he could be a very good #9. Problem is imo it's unwise to keep him playing there for a long period especially in the PL. Playing as a #9 in the PL imo is actually a very physical demanding job. Since you will have to wrestle, fight and suffer all kind of dirty challenges/tricks from behind against the CBs. You have to be pretty robust to play as a #9 in the prem. Very easy to get injured if you're not. Rashford imo is not very robust same as all the pacey strikers. And I don't think we'd want him to get injured atm.

So far imo ETH has managed him very well. He keeps him on the wings and moves him to the center mostly by the end of the matches when the defenders are more tired and less concentrated to make the best use of his terrific pace, off the ball and finishing.

So much a better player these days. It's not just the goals and assists but his overall game is so strong. Used to find him one of the most frustrating players to watch despite knowing he had the tools to be world class level. Now it is really all there including challenging for headers, scoring from one today, strength, workrate. The decision making is another league compared to where it used to be. I thought he let the side down vs Arsenal and reverted back to type a bit, but since then (and before tbf) he is just such a great weapon to have.

It's like that header he missed vs Newcastle triggered something in him. His prowess in the air has been great to see. That variety in his goals is what was separating him from being a good player, and the top class forward he looks like now.

Absolutely on fire. Delighted to see him in this form and what a constant asset he’s been for us. I‘ll be the first to admit he was dire for the best part of 18 months and you wondered if he had a future here but he has proven if he gets his mentality right, he can get reach some serious numbers. Clearly responded to Ronaldo leaving, it must be noted.

As a loud doubter of Rashford I feel like I always have to come in here and apologise.

His improvement this year is phenomenal. I never thought I'd see the day that Rashford would be a threat in the air.

Ten Hag has done a great job unlocking him. He's still getting his numbers but a totally different player to the one that I disliked under Ol, due to greed and erratic play.

Don't think, he played particular well today, nor during the week. But he took his finishes really well, kudos to him. Confidence does him a world of good, but I think his decision making still has a lot of room. Very positive trend though and something, I was really hoping for when a good manager would take him to improve. Hopefully many more steps to come, for now, I think, only thing that improved is fitness and confidence.

“He has the skills. I was convinced from the first moment. I was really excited to work with him. Yeah, I thought I could get more out of him. But he has so many skills, such high potential and I think there can be even more. When he works well, he will even score more goals because he can score with his left, right and his head."

I liked these comments from ETH. Do any stats nerds know how his ratio of right/left/head finishes compare with previous seasons? Obviously he’s scoring more headers but feels like he’s more comfortable with his left too. Great to see.

May be we have a striker with us and don't need to spend big on summer. Sign someone like Kvaratskheila for left wing .

Get a back up to play as forward.

Great to see this! Where can I find the break up of these goals to penalty goals as well?

Not only did Southgate ignore Rashford, but he managed to ignore Rashford - Kane - Saka front line which is pretty much perfect front three. They played grand total of 0 minutes together at WC.

More and more I think we should play him as a #9.

He has everything.

Especially with Kane dropping deep, and Rashford and Saka making forward runs with pace. The guy is an idiot.

I always thought he could become our Eto'o. Should we turn him into our striker given that strikers in the market is very expensive these days.

Practice makes perfect. Before 2009/2010, Rooney also wasn't very good with his heading.

I don't think the Eto'o comparison is fair.

Eto'o is a natural striker of the ball. His instinct for scoring positioning is always great. We used to have a certain someone is more comparable. Eto'o despite of his size is very strong with his back against goal. Very good hold up.

Rashford is the type of learning into the role. He may get into a top class level, but his game may always be flawed if solely used no9. Ideally, let develop in his preferred position and have him enjoy his peak there, and shoehorn him later.

Feel like his current development has a lot to do with Benni McCarthy becoming our forward coach.

He's a terminator in two ways - always scoring, and always adding new improvements.
Only remaining upgrade is a left foot finish.
...

He's not a striker. He's a left forward. He's wasted with his back to goal. He will be best with a Benzema-like 9 (RIP our perma-crocked version), and it's obvious because Mbappe and Ronaldo were best coming in from the left too.

He's having a peak Rooney kind of season. Scoring nearly every game and scoring a nice variety of goals too; headers, drilled shots, placed shots and tap-ins.

I still have issues with his passing and he still gives the ball away too much but I can't deny that he's a world class goal-scorer now.

Feels like his physical prowess peaked this season, which I think helps to hide his weaknesses in decision making.

He still need to improve on his decision making, and his potential will be fulfilled. I do believe this is not the best version of Rashford yet, I'm so excited.

Remember reading York’s autobiography where he mentioned it was one single moment in a Villa shirt when he shanked Southgate off in a physical battle. In that single instance, Yorkey mustered all the confidence for his whole career. I think Rashford must have experienced that one singular transformational incident this year for him to suddenly look a different player

I remember reading "250+ games, 23+ years old, 6+ years of experience, he won't improve bla bla bla" and more nonsense, fast forward a year or 2 and we have much more improved Rashford and I'm not talking about goals scored. He has improved his headers, his weak foot and it's there for all to see. He is taking shots, playing crosses with this left foot and he is timing his jumps very well and anticipating crosses very well this season.

20+ goals in 3/4 seasons and this season he has 29 goals + assists, that would make three 30+ goals, assists season in last 4. Not bad for a kick and run footballer.

Just goes to show he needs a proper manager and coaching team.

Season after season, manager after manager, he seems to be the only player in our team who can score consistently, with only Ibrahimovic doing the same for us since Rashford's debut, although for shorter period obviously.

It's criminal that we have tall striker ahead of him and yet Rashford is the one scoring headers. Good to see that he is improved in that regard anyway, always good to have someone who will score few easy headers a season. And not only that, but as someone above said he is scoring in every game winning goals, and not easy goals when we are 2 or 3 up already, like majority of high scoring strikers do in some periods.

185cm could be categorised to tall player in football
Ya, he improved a lot this season with his speed and power. Hope he can finally clear his back injury.

This. OH THIS.

If he improves on his decision making he'll be up there with the best as long as he maintains his goal scoring consistency.

It's incredible to see what a great player Rashford has become. He has come of age.

I was thinking the same yesterday. But maybe that is the muppet in me.

Maybe the first time I think he has a future long-term as a starting centre-forward. He has been better there since the World Cup.
