If you believe that then so be it, I think you're being incredibly naive, we've kept worse players with less star status than him for sentimental reasons, crap like Anderson, Cleverely and Gibson lingered here ages and right now McTominay remains in the mix despite obviously being nowhere near good enough because he's an academy lad. You also seem to be completely ignoring Rashford's rancid attitude and lack of effort this season, you want to hang it all on 18 long months of "poor form," again if that's what you think then ok.

Look at

Mata
Bailly
Jones

They've all contributed much less than Rashford in recent seasons yet are still here, none are from the academy. The idea that Rashford is getting special favours is bollocks.

What’s your answer? Kick out all players that have played badly this season? Look in the Chelsea thread, They want to sell Jorginho, some are slagging Kante and Havertz. Last season they we’re the best thing since sliced bread. If Thry come back in form next season all you’ll here is ‘oh I though he was finished, proved me wrong‘ etc. it happens all the time in football. Thiago perhaps?

The fact is that fans are reactionary and hysterical. A manager has a different remit.

If you look back through the thread you'll see I defended Rashford for ages, there's nothing hysterical going on, you are likening what's going on with him to regular drop in form situations, you're ignoring how long he's been terrible and how bad his attitue on the pitch is, the basics of his pace and workrate have dimished badly and due to him being a brand we might still be able to get a decent fee for him because he's a star name in football, which would make sense.

I mean, if you see a 37 year old sprinting to chase the opponent when Rashford's the one that lost the ball in the first place, AND not bothering to chase it back, that is worse than just bad form IMHO.

He deserves another chance based on hope he might be bothered to make an effort under a new manager?

Tell me standards aren’t in the toilet at this club and fans haven’t happily had a cheeky flush

No you don't kick out a player who has played badly in a season. But it's not a season, it's 18 months. And it's not bad. It's woeful.

What makes the fans reactionary and hysterical is the complete lack of effort from a player. It doesn't matter who it is.. It's been said a million times before and its not hard to understand. If any player shows disdain for the club then they have to go.

The excuse that it’s been a ‘sudden decline’ seems to be a way of angling for him to be given more time; ‘he’s been great until now, maybe he deserves a chance to turn it around’

Sorry, no. The decline has been slow, sure and steady. He hasn’t always been this bad but he’s been on the pathway to being this bad for longer than “sudden decline” does justice to.

Jones, Maya and Bailly have all put in an effort and a much better effort than Rashford has for the past year and a half.
The fact they are not good enough is a different issue. Rashford has done feck all.
The above mentioned players try and in reality if Ralf plays Jones in midfield he may do a better job than McTominay is doing right now.

Not only has he not evolved since the days of Mourinho, he’s regressed at such a young age. I would like to see other players filling in for the rest of the season.

At least it gives the fans something to cheer about.

This sort of thing doesn't seem to happen much, but I wonder if a loan would be a good move for him to get his career back on track, though it will all depend on if Ten Hag thinks he can get back to his pre-pandemic form.

Wolves would be an interesting option. They could badly use some pace up front, he'd presumably get lots of games as they have less games than a relegation form team and play on the break. Alternatively, a season at Brighton might do him good.

I think his injuries have ruined him and deep down he knows it.

The thing is his injuries aren’t responsible for him being selective in when he puts in a shift. It isn’t his injuries that make him play as if he’s protesting though being played ‘out of position’ on the right.

Keane really going in on him. Saying his off-field stuff is a distraction, that he's made his money, lost his hunger and lost his place in the team.

Did he come on the pitch after the final whistle? I could only see Lingard, Maguire etc.

Mata played at least ten times better today than anything Rashford has produced in the last two years.

They are obviously very different players but the intelligence and awareness that Mata has is light-years from Rashford

Would not be surprised if he went straight down the tunnel. He has a strange habit of doing so. Did the same at the Euros at Wembley after the wins vs germany & denmark and didn't join the on field celebrations with the rest of the team.

Bit of a strange guy sometimes.

Not sure why Keane was even talking about him nor why this thread was bumped

Guess being toxic is cool

Keane was talking about Elanga and how he is not right now at the level Rashford was but if he makes the effort he could be an extremely good player. He pointed out that Rashford was also thought to be going to be at a much higher level than he is right now and that is he thinks because of his off field activities as he does not seem to be making an effort on the pitch and hopes that Elanga does not go down the same path.

Agree that he's lost his hunger. He doesn't look like he's arsed when he plays anymore.

I don't think Ten Hag will turn it round with him. I think a move away from United would be the best for all parties, although it won't happen.

Maguire, who cost up to £85 million, is not the only player Ten Hag is studying with the new manager also analysing Marcus Rashford, who has struggled all campaign. There is a growing sense that the 24 year-old, and the club, might actually benefit from him being sold.

As a footballer, when things are going well and you are getting plaudits left right centre, thats fine but when things are not going well, he doesn't like it.

Football fans will primarily judge you on the football you produce, Rashford has not produced any sort of football in 18 months.

Fingers crossed. Him, Pogba and Lingard to leave would be a great start to the clearout. A couple oldies are leaving as well. Get rid of the other underperfromers and overpaid players next year and we are good to go.

Oh, that's definitely interesting coming from the telegraph.

I don't see where he could fit in ETH's system even if he comes back to a semi-decent level.

It's getting out of hand all this.

There are so many people doing more every day with zero acclaim.

Rashford and/or his team have done good things but this kind of hero worship can't do a young man any good.

I think that's enough murals at least.

That mural has nailed the facial expression of someone who enjoys inhaling their own farts.

A mural sponsored by a company that rashford advertises for. At what point do you cross the line from confident to delusions of god hood. Newcastle looks more and more like the perfect place for him, they have an owner desperate for good pr and we have a player who is world class in pr and can't be bothered about the actual football, everybody wins, except may be the Yemenis and journalists who aren't liked by Bin Salman, but then its not like anyone cares much about them anyway.
