At this point we can almost assume he's refusing to play football for this club. There are lower leagues attackers who could do more... what he's trying to achieve with this, if he's not injured ?

If there is one journo left, who's still not useless, he should be bombarding Rangnick with questions about Rash.

Can’t believe his performances are tolerated . He should have been hooked at half time

Me for one, used to think he was great when he burst onto the scene. Enjoyed watching him.

It's always a shame that an academy player who has promise doesnt quite kick on. Rashford certainly had the talent but I never thought he was as football intelligent as others. Now it seems a far distant memory talking about it when Rashford was going to be breaking Rooneys record

I have started to hate him now because of his lack of effort. There are players who are simply not good enough but try. This geezer is a scam of the highest order.

Totally disagree. Rashford, up until this season, has been perfectly fine. Nowhere near one of our worst players over the last 5 years.

This season has been an utter disaster for him but I think we are starting to find out why. The whole team seems to have fallen out so there's no way it's being changed until next season.

Rashford isn't a bad player. He's just a bit lost at the moment. Bruno gone the same way too.
he was awful from January onwards last season.

Has he just burned out as a footballer? I can't see him getting back to what I remember.
It's pretty baffling isn't it? I actually thought he did better tonight than usual but still looked pretty bad.

I just had a look at the number of career games he's played for us and it's quite a lot. Even under Jose he made 100 appearances over two seasons (although i'm guessing a fair few were as a sub) but his workrate was never in question back then.

We're all quick to judge his attitude and maybe there is something wrong there but maybe also he's just not the same player anymore, physically.

Did a lot of hard work flapping his arms about in mock disgust all the times he lost the ball.

Cardio not so much.

Sham of a footballer.

What are his stats before and after MBE?
I think that's when his decline started.

I'm surprised he lasted longer than 30 minutes... he looked like someone who never played football before tonight. Just lost. Jogging/walking and making it easy for Chelsea. A deer in the headlights performance.

He needs dropping and taking out of the limelight and made to work his way back.

I am so conflicted, 50% of what is wrong with him is that his confidence is clearly shot to pieces and he is a talented player. The main problem is the other 50% which is effort and workrate. I think

He has proven he has a good amount of talent, some will disagree with this because they are angry but he clearly does. If he was out of form and went back to basics of just grafting and trying to make smart decisions I would still be 100% in his corner. Not doing that borders unforgivable. Ronaldo is really showing him up when he frequently pops up at left back to cover.

Why are people still making excuses for him? His problem is lack of effort. James is not half as talented as Rashford but I would take him over this Rashford any day.

Oh yeah no doubt. I just think even the embarrassingly few times he decided to make a sprint, he was really treading water. I know your legs feel heavy when you’re all up in your head but it just looked odd to me.

I saw that, at one point he chased Kante and couldn't catch up to him, it seemed like he lost few yards of his pace, his main strength was his lighting speed and it's either he lost it at the young age of 24 or he isn't really trying, either way it looks bad for him.

He doesn’t care to play anymore. Meaningless sprinting suddenly and going out of position for no reason always.
Telles had to work more on the right against James and then in second half Alonso used the space he left behind to get a goal.

I blame Ralf for this, its pretty obvious that he doesn’t want to play.

ETH should pull the trigger and sell him for a price in summer that would make a statement to other lazy players.

Strolling around on the half way line not bothering to track James once. Gets switched with Elanga and does not tracking on the other side. Will randomly sprint to close the keeper to make it look like he's working hard but doing an actual job for the team feck that.

""

Everyone round me in the stadium was moaning about Telles struggling with James but not saying anything about this goon still stuck on the half way line when he's supposed to be left wing.

He's getting too much of a free pass from some.

I'm not usually a big fan of managers screaming at players from the side-lines, but Marcus really needs a kick up the arse...then if he refuses, drag him off before the half-time and make it 100% clear its not good enough.

I think he caught him but couldn't make a tackle from behind.

In Rashford and Elanga we probably had the two quickest players on the pitch but I don't remember either attempting to do a man for pace. This is a regular thing. Fergie always used to talk about expressing yourself.

If you've got crazy pace and never attempt to beat a man are you expressing yourself?

As good a player as Reece James is I'm not sure he's the quickest or most agile when it comes to running back. But we didn't test him once.

Keane giving out that he shouldn’t be laughing while warming up was the highlight of his performance

James is quick, but Alonso is a turtle and we didn't attack his side and test him too

Anyone worrying if he’ll suddenly come good at another club are living in la la land.
I can’t even remember his last decent performance.
He may have 1 or 2 okay games if he gets sold but that will be it before he reverts to his ‘I deserve this’ attitude

What has happened to him? Just seemed to lack purpose or effort.
I'm notva big fan of Telles but agree with those saying Rashford gave him virtually no help.

I can imagine Old Traffords reaction if it were Pogba or Martial putting in the amount of effort he did.

Its disgraceful to me how the media doesn't even mentioned him.

They'll blame Cristiano, they'll blame Bruno, They'll even Pogba but Rashford ? bloody silence and no criticism at all.

The hat-trick against Leipzig was only last season

He's got ability, he's just lost all his game and it might be too low for him to ever fully recover. He's not the same person anymore, he's "made" it. He had a lot going for himself. He had an awesome big game goal record, knew had to lead a team etc. His problem is in his head. Looks like a quarter-life crisis, not something to hate someone for.

We commoners have the luxury of just starting again from scratch, move somewhere knew, get a new job, meet new people who haven't known you before etc. He can't do that, he's mentioned in society in large numbers every week no matter how good or bad he plays. None of this is conducive to a personal renewal/regrowth. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

You have Roy Keane just piling on the pressure, complaining about Rashford smiling too much. Huh? What's he smoking?

Refused to do his defensive job once again. James had free reign down the flank, because Rashford had no interest in doing his job. If he was playing well going forward, you could potentially excuse it, but he's been shit going forward as well. It's horrible to see how bad he has become.

At least Neville mentioned his lack of defensive work during commentary.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player go such a long period where they seemingly can’t do a single thing right. Something has gone badly wrong here and as patient as I am with him, it’s impossible to defend him.

@Nou_Camp99 , sorry, it's been a while since we've been told all of us have achieved nothing in our life and to go do one.

Can you please enlighten us how we, as modest mortals who most likely earn an absolutele max, per year half compared to what Rashford does in a week to deserve such comments in our day to day lives? Just curious because your post earlier this year is the only one embedded in my memory about posters here.

There was a time under Sir Alex that Ronaldo played with no responsibility and the team compensated for him. It looks a lot to me like Ole instructed Rashford to play the same, stay high and look for the counter.

I don't for a second believe Ralf hasn't highlighted to him that he needs to help the team off the ball. Rather than reverting to hard work and basics Rashford thinks he knows better so is trying to play his preferred style. It's inexcusable from him and if he doesn't figure out quickly that he needs to learn to be disciplined he'll be done here.

He really doesn't take the piss and he's a Utd fan like us.

People need to grow up and realise this PR stuff is all fake and just part of living in 2022 I'm afraid. I don't like it either but it's the social media age. He probably doesn't even post most of it himself either.

Rashford under a top coach would be playing so much better than this.
the excuses you make for him are bewildering.

All I can remember him doing in that game was winning a freekick for us after a Chelsea corner, and making a stupid sprint that was never going to amount to anything towards Mendy just before he got subbed, a part from that he was a training cone once again. I don't think he made the right choice once on the pitch today with the few touches he had.

It was unreal seing him push Ronaldo out of the CF position only for Ronaldo to properly show him up with his workrate. Marcus will be a nothing footballer soon if he doesn't start putting some effort in.

If we had kept James he would have contributed more than Rashford has done. His attitude is the main worry. Even at his best he was not world beater and now with this stinking attitude and work rate, we would be dumb to negotiate a better contract for him.
