Wtf has happened to this guy. Absolutely anonymous attacking wise. Body language was awful again. So many instances where he made no effort to get back. Didnt show the energy of someone who actually gives a shit.

This is what concerns me most. The stories of him wanting to leave or upset about playing time too. I hate the gossip stuff usually as it's normally bull but I believe in this case its true and Rashford is leaking. Which would mean he's delusional and weak. He's been getting more fame time than he deserves and is seemingly moping rather than trying to win back favour. Hes got a golden opportunity with Martial's loan and Mason's suspension. If he's upset that Elanga is getting some games it's incredibly petty.

Our attack was poor when he burst through and he was elevated to the status of a key attacking player before it was warranted and I suspect its gone to his head. Even if recaptured his previous form he wouldn't be starting at sides better than United, and on current form he'd be on the bench for Watford or Burnley. That or he's moping over the treatment of Lingard or something.

A number 9? Really?
Has he ever scored, or even challenged, for a header at goal?
And one of the main problems I remember with him when he was played up front before was not getting into the six yard box.

So two of those goals that were scored today wouldn't even have been chances if Rashford was leading the line

Exactly and people are still making excuses for him. Why should we change the way we play to accommodate him? With Cristiano at least there is more chance of him scoring goals than Rashford.

With Rashford its always the position he doesn’t play is best for him. If he plays on right then its left and if he is playing from left then its number 9 and if he is leading our attack as no 9 then its left or second striker.

He’s stropping as if he was a legend at some point. At his best he was very good but still based on potential. Never got to a level where he was in the elite in the prem. The Rashford v Mbappe debates used to be a hilarious comparison.

Over the years we’ve seen Rashford play on the right wing a number of times now. I’d say at least 10-15 games. I only ever remember one game where he played decent (nothing amazing) on that side. Him and Martial always had some kind of disability playing on the right wing. He’s so ineffective there. Weird to stick him there when he’s so badly out of form as it is.

Not everybody has a freak mentality like some greatest players, and it's one of the most important things to players reach their potential. IMO he will figure it out, he looked slim today. He might have changed his diet and training recently.

Not really, I think it's universally accepted he is a square peg in a round hole on the right. He doesn't take anybody on down the outside as a right footer, has no nuance to his crossing and can't work the ball into a shooting position. He's pretty much neutered there even in his better form.

If he's going to improve it isn't going to be from this position, he has always been and will continue to be shite there. The clear problem being Sancho is very good on the left so there isn't an obvious place for him.

Completely lost on the pitch today
Even when he was playing well he never showed anything that suggested he could do a job on the right
He would be better served even playing AWB there as at least he can put in a tackle or bring back Pellistri from his loan spell and play him there.
Not looking good for Marcus.

Lively for 20 minutes and then faded out of the game, doesn't offer the intensity off the ball that Elanga does.

His heads gone. Just thinking about that rebound he could have scored off the Ronaldo effort if he had burst into the box. Didn’t even bother. I hope he’s getting the support he needs.

I thought Rashford was a bit better today. He wasn't a threat but he kept things simple and worked hard off the ball. I think that the manager is doing things right by having him and Elanga rotate starting spots. Hopefully this helps Rashford get back to his best

Marcus Rashford. Get that head of yours up immediately.

And make a damn pass.

I'm not sure that he can. He can't not smash the ball.

I'm trying to picture him playing a pass of 20 or more yards with any deftness... and I can't remember every seeing him do it. His crosses are just shots aimed at the corner flag as well.

Didn’t see the match today but the highlights suggest that we played Rashford right and then switched Sancho to the right when Elanga came on. Is that accurate?

Yeah, he takes the "hit it as hard as you can" approach to crossing. And it's often the same setup: get to the edge of the box, look up, then look at the ball, then absolutely wallop it. Oftentimes launching it straight into the first man. Composure is not one of his strengths.

At the moment, I actually struggle to name a single strength.

This.

He’s not and never has been a great dribbler.
His shooting is erratic.
Heading is against his beliefs.
Pressing and off the ball work shocking.
Passing is constantly wayward.
He has pace but doesn’t know how to use it.

He's always been best on the left, not sure where you're reading otherwise?

Rashford is super weird with his approach. When drilling the ball in like this, it's relying on gaining half a yard on the defender. Rashford instead just hold onto the ball looking for a shot. Then only attempt to cross once the angle was closed. That situation would require technique and vision. Something not Rashford's forte.

Started off less like a disaster, even had a nice pass to Pogba.

Then he sort of just completely faded out of the match.

Anonymous. I didn't notice any of his usual runs off the ball when we had deep possession. A couple of inaccurate crosses. 0 shots, 0 key passes. Most of his passes were safe. 1 tackle and 3 interceptions (very high for him).

He had some nice dribbles in him a couple of years back.

I think he tended to be a bit of a 'kick and run after it' merchant even at his best. Never really had the close control in full flow of Martial when he was on song, for example.

He takes one or two touches more than he should

Have to say I liked his behaviour on the pitch today. No sulking, worked hard for the team and tried to keep it simple. Celebrated the goals a lot and applauded the fans while getting subbed. I know this should be standard but he set the bar really low past few months. I hope he finally understood that he can win the fans over again a lot easier like this than when he just strolles around looking miserable all the time and only plays for his own stats.

He certainly tried to show a reaction today and that he still cares about his situation at the club. Even when he created next to feck all offensively. I still hope he continues like this and finds his form. I would love him to bag a goal vs Atletico.

Poor today but he put in a shift which I'd encouraging considering recent displays.

I'm thinking a loan might do him good if he keeps this up? We can't deal with another first teamer wasting minutes next season. Nobody will pay his wages either.
I'd be more tempted if we didn't have the same problem with Maguire and Shaw (and martial starting from last season now i think of it). We cant send all on loan, just too many holes elsewhere to fill. Having a competent plan b and hope their form recovers would be my plan. I think elanga just about qualifies for decent plan b. Maybe Amad and Pellestri with Elanga and your reasonably well covered.
I thought he was better today at least initially. Just in terms of energy and work rate which is a start. Faded quite quickly

fair post. He’s easily been our worst regular starting player in the last year though.

He had some nice dribbles in him a couple of years back.

Statisticswise he was never a great dribbler, both in terms of % of successful driblling and number of successful dribbles per game.
His best season was around 2 dribbles per game
young Christiano Ronaldo and Hazard had 4, Messi was more than 5 per game

He'll probably be a decent enough footballer elsewhere, but right now it's not working out for him or the club IMO. He's struggling for consistent bursts of pace, doesn't have the skills to dribble past defenders often enough, plays out wide without any remarkable crossing/creation abilities and is a decent enough shooter of the ball, good for the occasional goal. That's not a balance that makes sense for a team struggling to get top 4.

Same. He certainly wasn't great, but he was nowhere near as bad as some are making out imo. A tentative step in the right direction, but still way off his best obviously.

Good working out on the pitch until 60 mins.

Ofcourse some fans have said that they would be fine with him as long as he tries hard and doesn't sulk - soon as that happens then people move to questioning his performance and productivity.

Hopefully he can keep the work rate up every time he plays and starts adding some productivity bit by bit.
