The problem with Marcus is sometimes, his level isn't professional and we let that happening.

It's not normal to have 50% of your shots going wide, let alone 100 %.

I fell asleep for a lot of the match only caught last ten minutes, where he looked decent. That clip though fffffssss! That's the kind of madness inducing sh*t he was up to last season. Def hairdryer needed after that when we've lost to fecking Palace.

If that happened in a game circa year 2000, Roy Keane would legit be in prison for GBH shortly after.

Also was that the loose ball that ended up crocking Martial? Saw him basically limping at the end of the game.

His pass to Martial before that weak shot sums up how frustrating his passing is.
Always behind the target and kills the tempo

When he first burst onto the scene, I remember his movement IN the box was excellent and he was managed to find a yard or 2 ahead of the defender to score. His first goals were all in the box, no? I remember his 2 goals against Arsenal were a tap in after great movement in the box, and a header. He strangely seems to have lost that attribute and seems to be trying too hard and failing to be Cristiano mk2.

Unfortunately it seems like Ole is just the wrong manager for him at the moment. Giving him praise and freedom to do what he feels is right on pitch isn't working out.

In a way it's hard to blame Rashford. The way he came into the team, our reliance on him, making him the poster boy and giving him the no.10 shirt would get to anyone's head. Not having a tough manager just adds to it all.

Not everyone can have the luxury of being managed by Pep. Funnily enough , Mourinho was criticised for being too tough ? I wonder what the next excuse will be.

173 games for this club and so far I still can't understand how so many on here think he's talented. He's very very average in every department much like our squad. If we had good players, he would be seen as the weak link.

If you're from Manchester or from our academy for that matter, it seems like you can get away with performing like crap and then score a couple of goals every now and then and still be regarded as a great player.

Why bring Pep into it? Jose doesn't have a great record with young players, so I'll leave it there. But just in the PL you have the likes Poch, Klopp and who seem to improve young players. My blame doesn't all lie with Ole, the coaching team should be stepping in. You would hope someone like Phelan would be in Ole's ear giving him advice about it all.

He is our new Danny Welbeck. And how things going last couple of years i will not be suprised if same happened to Greenwood. Simply young players strugle to make a progres for a whole decade.

He's at least trying to make things happen, he's just making awful selfish decisions in doing that. If we had leaders on the pitch he might get reigned in, but we lack even that.

I liked him moving into the 10 role as a SS behind Martial when Greenwood came on to go on the right thus moving James to the left.

Maybe because he is talented. I don't know what planet some of you live on or if you actually watch football apart from United games.

So a 21 year old has been on and off since he was 19. Insightful.

Can’t imagine how you would have reacted if we had a young Sterling developing in our team during the same age bracket.

Well, I didn't say he won't improve ala Sterling.

Also, for a 21 year old on 200k a week, you'd expect more, no?

This has been my problem with him for a while. He is always trying to take too much on, his decision making is generally poor and his technique is erratic. I still have a lot of faith in him, he's still a good player even now, but needs to simplify his game. Take him off all set pieces as well, he's awful at them.

Only in a figurative sense I guess, because I think their struggles are quite different. I actually think Welbeck was very good at getting in the right position, making the correct decisions, etc. He just lacked composure to put away easy chances (and yet would bury very difficult ones at times.) I never questioned his attitude - just lack of composure was his main downfall (and injuries in his post-United career.) Rashford clearly has decision-making issues. That gif that was posted above from his long-range 'effort' against Palace is just cringe-worthy. It's the same when he lines up to take a free kick. I think he can still be a very good player, but he needs a stern word in his ear.

With proper coaching, he'd walk into any team in the world. He's just being misguided imo.

We always underrate or overrate our players. There's isn't an inbetween.

I think another issue is that he's expected to lead and be senior. He would've gained massively from playing next to world class strikers such as Zlatan, Suarez, Lewandowski etc. He needs to see good decision making in real time. He has Martial and James/Greenwood now. Not much to look up to, despite himself being far from the finished article.

I think he is aware of his decision making issues and tries to work on it. His reaction after his long range shoot says it all, he initially knows that this was an absolute shit decision.
After that he keept it more simple and played a few good one touch passes (for the goal for example). Also in the wolves game he had very good decision making for the most part.
Apart from that horrendous freekick. But the freekick issue is not only his fault, why is he allowed to take freekicks from that angle? He should've gotten the hairdryer from someone after that, but i doubt he got one.

I think we still have to be patient with him and don’t destroy him after every bad decision.

He’s wasting his talent by being like Ronaldo trying to shoot long range too much out of nowhere. He needs to use his movement, pace, skills & shoot more when he’s in the penalty box. Sometimes, I’m just wondering whether he even realise how much damage he has done to both himself & the team by doing those unrealistic long range shooting. Ole needs to have a few words to him about this.

Rashford has less than 30 PL goals (in 114 PL games) and is on £250k/w...

It's a joke really. We are such a poorly run club. Rashford is a great talent no doubt but he has by no means earned that wage.

The problem is though that he is on that wage, and contract, so is going nowhere fast, even though he really isn't that good. He still has the mentality of a youth player, and his transition to professional with his limited talents is now plain to see; and this means we are stuck with our main striker being quite average when compared to our rivals.

It does not bode well for the future. We were screaming out for a world class striker in the summer, and it was ignored. This also tells you that those running the club, and the managerial outfit must also be suspect.

Rashord and Martial, and many other players are just not good enough at this level if we have aspirations to start competing again. That's the stark truth.

Good coaching will not suddenly make him the best player in the world.

Yep. He's a speed merchant and on his day a good finisher. He lacks link-up play, is a non-entity in the air and isn't particularly skilful.

Rashford gets past defenders with his awesome acceleration. I don't want to say 'kick and run merchant' because lots of fans think this is an insult and I don't intend it to be one. A kick and run merchant can be a terrifying opponent for any defender.

But to claim he's this super-talent is misguided. He isn't, he's a good player who's abilities are essentially all physical.

No but he needs to realize he's not that good and play to his limitations. Be fast, direct and shoot. Thats all.

I dread the day he scores a wonder goal. He won't stop attempting them after that.

We need to play him and Martial as a front two or one of them is going to struggle. This thing of allowing him all over the pitch is asking for trouble given how limited he is technically. We need him in a front 2 and soon or we might as well get rid.

He'd actually be a useful player if he plays to his limitations, I wonder if / when he will learn? Hope it will not be too late by then

The state of some of these comments....he’s limited, he’s a kick and rush merchant, he’s not that good, not good enough for this level, been crap for two years etc...they’re so bad they make my eyes bleed!!! Do these posters actually watch him? Really watch him!?

He’s a young lad who is learning on the job. He’s not the finished article yet but we should be excited to see him develop. He surely needs a bit more from our supporters while he does....I don’t know....like some support maybe?

He is a talented boy and will continue to improve but he’s effectively learning on the job. The more he plays though, the more he’ll cut out the over indulgence. We should be applauding his ambition, not tearing him down. Goodness knows we need some ambition and imagination from our players after the last few “difficult” seasons...

Also, check Rashford’s stats against Ronaldo, Rooney, Kane and a few of their peers...he is very similar to them at this stage of their careers. They were ticking along in the high single/low double figures and then had a big breakout season around this point in Rashford’s career so there is precedent for strikers making a massive leap from good to great....he may not of course but the tools are in place so there is a good chance it could happen (this goes for Martial too by the way...)

He has got ability and potential, but his selfishness annoys me greatly. He should work on his game and not act like he is already a superstar.
Also, at the same age Emile Heskey had 3 seasons with 10 premier league goals so it's not like improvement is guaranteed!

I'm just not sure he will progress much more unless he REALLY works hard to get rid of his flaws.

He needs to work on his left foot desperately, work on dribbling with the ball in tight spaces and not rely on speed all the time. Most importantly learn when it's best to pass or take it on yourself, and stop with the silly flicks when linking up play.

Nothing worse than your team steaming forward to help with an attack and then you lose it within seconds to a silly heel flick to nobody.

A lot of pressure on Rashford now. He's the senior player in our attack with Martial out, and the main goal threat.

Him and Martial are average players leading an average team.

Funny you say that but every Arsenal, Liverpool fan I speak to will have BOTH of them in their teams.

I do not think either of them are average, they are both very young, most strikers come into their own at 24. Martial this year has looked different. Maybe because he is playing where he wants to?

Completely agree. Players must be able to make mistakes in order to grow and develop. Rashford has been put into the first team as a main attacker incredibly young. Fingers crossed it pays off, but it's extraordinary that because he's a MEGA talented youngster, not just a GOOD youngster like Chong or similar, he gets so much hate.

I just wish/hope that Rashford's ball retention and awareness improve. Other than his poor set-pieces,which he shouldn't be on anyway, I find that his overall passing and link-up play is,cohesively, sorely lacking.
