He's so low on confidence.

He's snatching at all his chances and clearly isn't backing himself to score, as he does in an England shirt.

It's almost as if he's constantly worried about his final pass/shot, knowing that his manger is just waiting to slag him off when it goes wrong.

And what happens when he misses his first chance? Does Jose encourage? Does he feck... Shakes his head like he's just ruined our entire chances of winning the game.
Spot on really. Everything he tries to do for us just seems frantic, like he is trying to do it at 100 mph most likely because he feels like he is being judged, which in fairness he is but you expect the backing of your manager and he doesn’t look like he is getting that. Really just needs to slow down some of the things he is doing or trying. I was impressed that he went for that chip finish, it was the right choice. Normally he just blasts those straight at the keeper.

Jose’s reaction after tho, you’d think Rashford had just cost him his life.

Needs time to improve his decision making. Good qualities but inconsistent like most players his age. Anyone trying to pin this on the manager is simple making shite up, making simple 5 yard passes across the box for a tap-in has nothing to do with the manager, its plain selfishness that plagues many young players that want to make a name for themselves.

Play for the team, not yourself. You aren't the next Ronaldo, you can't get away with that.

He gets in the way of his team mates too. He is never a top class striker.

Yeah because he had none of that until the moment he dropped him straight from being a striker for united and turned him in to a winger who has struggled to score or do anything of note ever since then.

your support for Jose is crazy mate. Do you have a partner?
It is you that has a problem, thinking Mourinho is responsible for everything when it is clear the kid has poor decision making and finishing. He has always been like this. The less time he has on the ball, the better he seems to perform. Give him 1v1 and he is more likely to miss than score.

He's the most overrated footballer the league has ever seen. That some of our fans think he's a world class talent is just baffling to me.

Bingo. He's useless.

Another 1 on 1 chance missed. I recall at least 10 now, missed them all too.

Perfect match for him against not so tough opponent.

Compare this to what he done vs Liverpool season ago and you just know almost whole team is not themselves.

At least he is not as useless as Sanchez or Lukaku and he puts far more effort in

Until we sign two new world class forwards I much prefer to see him giving his all than the others.

He's such a head down merchant at the moment. We desperately need coaching staff worth a damn.

I've seen enough to feel under better management, he'd be a great player.

Mourinho isn't the coach for him - look at his reaction to the miss and his pre game comments.

Rashford's misses are better than the one's Lukaku misses from 3 inches away from the post. Rashford always has more work to do becuase its normally a finish he has to make after making a run.

Lukaku's finishes he struggles with are normally ones from a ball that bounced off his right foot first touch off the opponents arse on to his chest and then on to his thigh and then to the ball boy behind the goal post

Rashford did not have poor finishing before Jose. Jose has a history of ruining kids. As does Jose has a history of failing on his thrid year. As does Jose have a history of prefering target men over forwards of 'this generation' ;);)

See a link between Jose and history. Probably not because in your view Jose is nothing but the future.

True, Lukaku is equally as shit but at least Sanchez actually looks ok as a no.9. Then again he's still shite come to think of it.

Exactly  Some of the football he plays is absolutelty nice to watch as an attacker never mind the bollocks we play with now.

Get him some games in a row under a manager, get him used to scoring goals and toning his finishing and decision making in the final third and then what else would we want from him. he'd be fantastic.

The first thing I noticed though is that the moment Jose came and turned him to a winger - he started changing the way he strikes the ball; almost trying to emulate ronaldo the inverted winger. In the future under a manger who gives him games upfront in a row; he needs to change the way he strikes the ball to the way he did under LVG; normally side footed finishes.

Poor lad - Jose has ruined his development. Anyone who does not see that is blinded.

Low on confidence? He’s been low on confidence for over a year now. He’s just not very good at the most important part of being a forward - scoring bloody goals. Overrated to the extreme.

One way to look at it - how would you feel seeing him sold to say Arsenal? Or Chelsea?

A miss is a miss, you can't say "Rashford's misses are better than the one's Lukaku misses". At the end of the day, its the same result. But Rashford has been dreadful infront of goal lately for us, Sorry, but you can't blame Mourinho for that, its all on Rashford.

Yes Jose is telling him to put his head down and do not look up and do your own thing. He is telling to shoot like Ronaldo. No He simply is not that good.

Ofcourse I can. What makes you say what I can blame and what I cannot? A striker's ability to finish is based on repetition; atleast it is in my view. Playing RW for 5 matches , sub for a two before having one game as a striker is not going to get the most accurate a finish a striker can give.

Therefore Jose is a significant 'part' but not 'all' of rashford's inability to finish chances.

As I have said before - Lukaku's chances as a target man are easier as he stays in one place to recieve the ball from 10 extra players. If you do not see this then so be it. Rashford does not play as a target man and has to time his runs, time his balance, has to take his defenders on to get a chance on goal. He normally does all that well to simply miss the finesse of finishing the chance off. That takes practise, confidence and a team well drilled to get the best out of a striker who plays between the lines - normally a good number 10 is needed.

For Lukaku - what happens is everyone crosses then its a bit of a gamble where the ball ends up. Less work, bad finishes but an easier life overall including the treatment he gets from the manager. Jose's tactics are historical towards target men - he hasnt a clue what to do with a striker of Rashford's stature. If he does then please do highlight me one and how he used his tactics to get the best out of a forward at any of his teams that was not a target man.

Did you notice rashford's style of shooting changing as Jose turned him to a winger? Remember the how he went from a striker who side footed finishes under LVG to a winger who hit his shots like Ronaldo with pure pace and power as a winger under Jose. You'd even see the poor lad with his face down at the ball when shooting from miles away from goal rather than looking at the goal properly.

Rashford has lost his ability to finish directly in Jose's tenure and what you say to me wont let me change my mind from the little things that I have noticed that has happened to Rashford ever since Jose came in and cried out for his traditional target man.

Watch the Rashford first season videos. Then watch Rashford trying to shoot as a winger on every single season afterwards trying to be Roberto carlos with the ball. Poor Lad.

Lukaku considering he has the loyalty of Jose, the whole team trying to create for him (PS Rashford normally has to run to get in line with passes made for him rather than Lukaku who purely stays still) misses way more easier chances. Rashford never receives the ball like Lukaku does by himself having to control it with his horrible right foot, his back , his forhead and his feelings - you see Rashford has to run in to space and normally dribbles a good distance before attempting to take the shot.

Some abysmal viewing of football if you can't see these little differences in their football and all you view is their goals. Rashford is playing as a striker for a manager who has never used a striker like that before and is only doing so - as he says in his media - because of the fans of Manchester United are forcing him to do just that.
What a terrible rambling mess of a post.

Yes Jose is telling him to put his head down and do not look up and do your own thing. He is telling to shoot like Ronaldo. No He simply is not that good.

There was a simple 5 yard pass to Lingard square that would see him get a tap-in, and he shot from an acute angle straight at the keeper. There was also a 2 on 2 with Lingard getting into the blind spot of a centre back and he chose to shoot from outside the box. He also messed up a simple cut back for Fellaini that would see him get an easy chance.

These things are coached at academy football for god's sake. He's just a selfish footballer that needs to work more for the team because he's simply not at that level to take these responsibilities. Players like Ronaldo and Messi who had twice as much talent sacrificed themselves for the team at this age.

I have seen enough of Rashford to know that he'll end up being a squad player at best and will never achieve what the fans expected from him when he started. Another Welbeck/Walcott..etc. Simply your typical English young talent.

Good young player but he's young. These players need to understand that when you chase money, or caps or more games then expectation will rise. These young players need to let the manager manage them and they need to want to improve and not feel they already made it because they have not.

He has great potential but what's his best position? If we told him to stick wide and create problems from that side but don't drop deep. He makes intelligent runs and I do think he has the ability to create and score goals but he needs a position. Moving him about has not improved his end product.

In a struggling team we need a Pogba or someone from deep to keep feeding him or Martial on the other side. Give us width. It don't mean you can never cut in and shoot but be there when we need you cause they do have technical ability and craft. They just need to be there.

I think he might be a better forward but it's questionable how many goals you can expect from him. He scored in youth teams but can we say play him central and he will get you 25+ goals? I don't know yet

So i guess Podolski and David Healy had the same issue. Brilliant for their countries and lost for theirs clubs.

He’s not good enough for us at the moment. Who knows he could become a good player one day.

The fact is he is young. He shouldn’t be playing for United, especially starting games. Only very very special young players should be playing for us at his age I.e Rooney, Ronaldo level when they were 20 years old where good enough for us.

This kid is just not good enough at the moment it’s obvious to see. It’s the managers/boards fault we should be sending him out on loan or getting another person in his place and he can sit on the bench.

Why would we send him out on loan when currently he's a better option then Lukaku!?

He needs a personal coach and some time off to start getting his confidence back. He is by no means a world class talent, but he is much much better than what he is showing at the moment.

He is a squad player at best.

When he is 1v1 I look away in almost embarrassment because I know what is going to happen.

Been saying for a while he shouldn’t start, and after tonight it just proves my point. Surely there isn’t people out there that still think he is good enough for us.

Is he though? Lukaku is out of form yeah, but Rashford is not exactly lighting the place up what has he scored like 2 goals all season. Fellaini looks better up front. No point having Rashford running down blind alleys when no one can make a through ball anyway. If by the off chance the ball does come through like tonight Rashford can’t finish 1v1 to save his life. Atleast Fellaini can hold it up better than both Rashford and Lukaku.

To be honest if it were up to me I would get rid of both of them in the summer. It’s not going to happen though, Lukaku was signed for big money and Rashford is the Manchester golden boy local lad bullshit.

In any of our successful periods these two would be lucky to make the bench, it says something about how far we have fallen.

I said it earlier, he needs a run of games upfront and the allowance to be played into form.

Lukaku is a god awful footballer yet is afforded the luxury.

Rashford, even when poor, offers a lot more than Lukaku in terms of movement and link up play.

I always felt Mourinho was the worst possible manager in the world for the kid. He'll kick on under a better coach, personally I hope for Pochettino.

I don't think Lukaku would ever find himself in a position like this, as he doesn't move off the ball.

It was a poor miss. I feel in an England shirt this is a goal.

The kid needs consistent game time in a fixed position.

A run of games up front and the allowance to be played into form? Feck me who is this kid? Is he the next Pelé being allowed such allowances at a massive club like Man Utd.

This is what’s wrong with the club at the moment along with the management situation, it’s too many average players like Rashford in our squad. Go back 10 years Rashford would be in the reserves loaned out to some championship side and then sold on. No way are we ever going to be a title winning side with Marcus Rashford up front.

Maybe we should settle for Rashford and give him allowances to play as shit as he wants in the hope he will come good one day. After all we are 7th for a reason.

Again you drag an unrelated Lukaku into the discussion. This has nothing to do with Lukaku or Mourinho, so stop trying to drag them into your defence of rashford.

lol-Mourinho ruins kids, just like he ruined balotelli, Santon, and Varane

Any objective observer can see it - the kid is just not that good yet and needs to work on those areas and improve. But dont let me wake you up from your day dream.

All great youngsters were first given allowance to find form, and when they play badly they're allowed time to play through it.

It's naive to think otherwise. Youngsters are all inconsistent. If you watch PSG enough you'll see Mbappe puts in poor 90 minutes, but is given allowance to play through it (helps he's in a poorer league).

We're far from a title winning side anyway. Many of us would have had Rashford over Sterling before Pep and Mourinho arrived. Look what consistent game time and faith did for sterling. We just had the worst possible coach come in.
