Terrible game but he'd look twice the player if he played under Klopp or Guardiola sadly.

He was lively in the first half and then faded. The thign is, every time he fecks up on the wing, it becomes so apparent that he is not a winger. Receiving the ball and taking on his man doesnt seem to be his best game, instead he is more of a striker or wide forward who gets behind defenders and gets a crack on goal. Instead, he is expected to track back and help make plays, and a lot of passing. So it's kind of like trying to put square pegs into round holes and pretty painful to watch as you know he can do much better than this.

It was nothing worse performance than Lukaku's average performance this year. His hold up play in first half was actually far better than pretty much anything Lukaku produced this year, and it was against toughest opponent this year. He should do better, but I don't think Lukaku showed anything this year to suggest that he should be our main striker.

Matic is getting a lot of flack, but Rashford for me was the worst. Every touch seemed to end up with the opposition player, and worse he seems to have accepted his mediocrity by dropping his head after every time he gave it away.

Why's he here? Never in a million years under SAF would he have gotten so many games for us. He's a technically worse, but physicaly stronger version of Frazier Campbell. His level is the bottom of the Premier League - and even then I think he'd struggle for those teams. Just technically so poor when the balls at his feet.
This. He is plain stupid. Some of his decision making is just plain dumb

He's overall an average player that got extremely overrated. Not his problem though. We shouldn't have overrated him that much and made him believe he's the new Ronaldo (while he's on his way to become worse than Welbeck) and he shouldn't be starting for us. Can't question his effort, but he can't do anything more than it.

Terrible game but he'd look twice the player if he played under Klopp or Guardiola sadly.

City have eight better attackers than Rashford (Sterling, Aguero, B.Silva, D.Silva, Jesus, Mahrez, De Bruyne and Sane) so he'd never get a game under Pep. He wouldn't start for Klopp either.

This idea that he's being wasted by us is laughable. He should be grateful to the club because coming through our academy is the only reason he's at a big club now. He's mediocre.

I would say he was shite but to be fair it is his usual performance for the past 3 years. I don't know what he offers apart from pace.

I actually felt he played decent. Obviously our best attacker in the first half, well not saying much but he was hustling and winning us fouls.

I'm reluctant to blame the attacking players too much for their tame display, they were already doomed. Tactics were never going to help them when they had to spend most time either chasing the ball from city players or chasing long balls thrown at them and trying to win flick ons.

He really did look frustrated and beaten down. He made a lot of runs that went unrewarded but the few he did get, he didn't do much of anything with.

What is the difference between him and Solanke or Ihenacho? Just asking because i don't see that

He wasn't great but tried hard, could tell he was getting more and more frustrated as the game went on and starting to lose his head

I have to disagree, he really didn’t try hard. His attitude is absolutely fecking infuriating. He struts about as if he is the fecking main man but he can’t control a ball or even NOT fall over every game. When he lost the ball there was no desire to even try and recover it, and was walking about 10 yards from city players who were just statically passing the ball in the second half. His confidence might be low, but you can still play the game with the correct attitude and Rashford absolutely does not. He needs to be brought back down to earth pronto.

I remember when papers were comparing this kid to Mbappe and I laughed, his decision making has always been poor but he has raw talent that needs to be developed, I think that Jose is not the right manager for him, under Pep or Poch he would be a better player and evolve and maybe become the player people thought he could be.

When he burst onto the scene we all said he was miles better than Welbeck in the inevitable comparisons but I'm starting to think otherwise now and I think Welbeck is utter pish.

He shouldn’t be starting football matches for us. Not good enough. Don’t want to see him in the starting 11, period. Been extremely fortunate to have the opportunities he has had and for me, doesn’t deserve another in the near future. Can’t spot a simple pass, can’t finish, can’t maintain possession. Like a pin ball machine up front and it can’t carry on. If Sanchez is fit, give him game time.

The only way I see him ever potentially becoming top class is if he plays in a two striker system. That might suit him and highlight his strengths while hiding his weaknesses. He just doesn't have the ability to play in any position in a front three.

The problem is few top teams play with two strikers up front anymore.

The difference is that we're overly sentimental as a club; the appointment of Moyes, refusing to sack mediocre managers and blindly backing average academy players like Rashford is all evidence of that.
Agree with you. I am sorry but "doing his best and trying hard" is not the way how you can compete with the best clubs.

I shocked at his lack of first touch. Yes he could dribble sometimes but his first touch is so poor. Just like Lukaku. If he is going to lead our line then we are not going to win much. He also does not seem to have a footballing brain.

He needed a midfield that was closer to him today. Was able to press and run around but, no help behind him. Matic and Herrera didn't want to send balls over the top for him to run onto even though he was in space. Looked a little more dangerous when playing closer to Martial than Lingard but, they were both swarmed by the City defense. Not a lot of room for either of them to create something. Got frustrated at the end.

I once wrote that we'd be lucky if he reaches J. Defoe's level of consistency and I stand by that. back-up striker long term, nothing more than that. that's why I'm not really disappointed by him being brainless or having a poor first touch at times - simply, that's what he is. players like him and Lingard should be on the bench most of the time. if they are playing too often, it just means that someone isn't doing his job in the market.

I'm not his biggest fans but Herrera's passing was absolutely garbage. Matic was being Matic and Fellani doesn't play a through balls game. I'm not saying he doesn't get the blame for some stupid decisions but people are underrating how badly Herrars terrible passing impacted him and us.

Feel like the vitriol is a bit much. He was so isolated, there's not much we can expect from him in those circumstances. We should remember that he has a good record in big games too. He's been in poor form for a while but he's still got time to develop. I'd like to see him go back to the way he was playing early last season, he kept it simple but was explosive at the right moments. Right now he doesn't look like he really knows what his role is which is understandable given how much he's been shuffled around.

Can’t hold the ball up to save his life, or win a header.

When you play as a CF then either he needs to hold the ball well or bring others into play. All he does is put his head down and try to kick it pass the defender and try to beat him for pace. Good defenders with back up will not let him do it. His decision making is very poor. This is not his first season playing PL football. I personally think all the hype by the media has gone to his head as he is trying to do everything on his own. He simply is not good enough. He is not even close to being good enough as Martial.

The great white/black hope!

That a team like Utd are depending on a player like this is, in the situation we're in is sad.

Did he get injured because prior to being hooked off he was absolutely embarrassing for atleast 5 to 10 minutes no effort and desire just standing there that was shambolic.
