Mourinho:

"I was happy with my choices in Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford. They gave us what we needed. Rashford is very professional and very mature, he is a Manchester United player with Manchester United DNA.

Having Ibra this season and next season is excellent for Marcus.

BBC.

Nice to see Rashford come on and follow instructions. He stuck to the sideline, found space, used his speed to get in behind the defence and take on (and beat) the FB.
No over-excited dribbles today where is brain was working faster than his feet, so no awkward step-overs and inadvertant kicking of the ball out for a goal kick as we've sometimes witnessed in the past.
He and Mata were great introductions and really won the game for us.

Saw him up close today and noticed things Ive not appreciated on TV.

He's a big lad! But also very finely tuned, at full sprint, he moves like a gazelle. His close ball control is also excellent.

He could become the real deal. He won us the game today with a fantastic cameo.

I am glad that he has been really up for it in the last 2 games after a lot of below par performances. His energy even at 2-0 was great to see

Anyone who bets against this kid is daft. The most expensive player in the world, the Bundesliga player of the year, and the man who needed the referee's help to stop him equalling Leo Messi's 2016 goal haul were huffing and puffing and out of answers in this game, and he came on and made it look like child's play.

Very well played today, still not 100% sure he will be here in 2 years but promising
I thought this comment is odd until I see who posted it. Not sure if our most promising 19-year old talent is not gonna be here in 2 years eh? Are you also unsure about Nathan Delfouneso's trajectory to become the best player in the world at some point?

Relax, you'd think he won the world cup by himself with your post.
I don't think anyone is and can write him off just yet

Is he really a starting player though? Every time i saw him start this season he's been terrible. In the beginning when he was subbed in, and the last two games when was subbed in, he's been great.

Of course he will be, he's a phenomenal prospect. He's a lot faster this season and sure he's going to have dips in form but he's so level headed and he done a superb job when he came on, their right back kept backing away from him.

He is still so young. 2 years ago he was a nobody, relatively speaking. A lot can happen in the future. Let the kid do his thing, i think being a sub currently wont harm him. It is too early for him to be a starter now, but the time will come where he will start and get a lot of chances to deliver. Hopefully till then he will be ready and can lead the line for us. Was excellent today, made their RB look like a right mug.

He is a great super-sub to have on the bench. His introduction almost always makes an impact on the match.

I still want to see him as a forward. Hopefully Jose gives him the chance to start upfront against Reading. Ibra is due a long rest.

Very Hull like cameo from him another game where he came on to change the game

If he's not playing up front from the start this is how we should use him

Finally a Manchester United goal that did not involve Pogba or Ibrahimovic.

the whole team is getting into form so it'd be different to use him on the wings now too, I wouldn't mind use him from the start if he deserves to start, after today he deserves to start, Martial deserves to start next game too, mhkitaryan can be the one who's rested next game and Lingard too, so no problem, there's also Mata, so in the cup possibly Rashers up top Mata and Martial from the wings..

Let play players who are in form and deserve it, of course rotate when needed - fatigue, tactics etc.. we have a good competition and every player will want to play his best game every game which is always great, hopefully rooney will not get anywhere the first team from now..

hoping he gets a start vrs Reading

He certainly needs to get more game time to retain his sharpness

Pleased for him. Second game in a row he's come off the bench and made a big difference. Deserves to start vs Reading.

Expected impact from a fresh talented speedy player when the opposition are knakered, really took his chance, and it'd be nice to see him start on up top on Saturday as a reward, as hopefully Ibra will be off now until the Liverpool game.

This is probably how we should use him this season but start the FA Cup games of course. I don't know how long it's been since we've had threatening options from the bench.

Was fantastic tonight and I don't really see why he got so much criticism earlier on, he's a young kid and is going to have a rough patch and we'll have another one again in his career but the kid keeps shining through

Deserved MOTM

Who would win a running race between him, Martial and Valencia?
Rashford, he's taller

EDIT, he's not taller, just feels like that,

I think rashers would win it as he isn't that bulky, Martial has that running technique when he hover the pitch but without the ball on top speed he's not that quick IMO, Valencia is a tank, he lost a little pace but would be tight, great we have such pacy players, they transformed our team, let mourinho think about the style of this team but so had two creative and strong forces in Zlatan and Pogba

My stance with him and Martial is that they deserve credit when they do well and should be given leeway until age 22 when they do badly.

Thats the point of playing youngsters and giving them space to develop.

He ended joint fastest with Vardy.

Changed the game. Defenders couldn't deal with his speed and power, just what we needed. I'm glad Mourinho gave him a break, I think he really needed that rest and be away from the spotlight for a while. Hopefully Rashford kicks on now,

ait cheers mate, that could have changes from then although seems little bit more legit statistics then the research which showed rooney as one of the fastest, maybe past few years

Don't know if I got proof for this statement. But isn't he that typ of player who is terrible while starting but great while being subbed in.

On the left, I know what you mean. It seems out there hes better. Starting up top, I think hes better in that position. But the way he stayed out wide to stretch the play was fantastic. Gave us what we needed at the right time.

Great game, easy MOTM call. I don't know if starting Lingard was good because Rasher works better as a sub or not but it is frustrating when there are three of them sharing minutes on the left wing, when there is the hugely talented and hopefully just hitting form martial and our most exciting youth product in years in rashford, I really don't think either of them should be the one missing out on minutes, it should be split between them as they are only just getting somewhere.

Rashford started the season great but really faded. I seriously don't understand with him though how he forgot so many of the fundamentals like basic control, not running the ball out of play and shielding the ball for a couple of months there and now in the last two appearances has just remembered it, I was seriously having doubts if he was going to be able to get himself back near the team after not really staking his claim for the place earlier in the season.

Still he is 19, has under a years senior experience in the game, but has now appeared in 24 games this season and been the man of the match three times. There is something to be said for the way he has bounced back after that tricky spell to regain Mourinhos faith. The fact he brought him on instead of martial, who was the best player on the pitch two days ago speaks volumes of how highly rashford is rated.

Relax, our players were clearly tired from having a match just 48 hours earlier and it showed. Not taking anything away from Rashford, who had a great match off the bench.

Can we just settle on that he is best used as a super sub? Not a starter yet which doesnt mean that in a few years he wont warrant a starting spot but as of right now his pace and energy of the bench really makes a difference when he comes on. Its a wonderful weapon to have at our disposal so lets just keep him in this current role. By far the best way to use him. He should not be starting, its almost wasting him at this point.

For the sake of his development, he still has to start more games. There are some games for him to start that he can develop this month, such as the FA Cup and the two-legged League Cup ties.

I hope that he can follow the development of CR7, enough games but not too many. CR7 wasn't an automatic starter, sometimes Solksjaer played ahead of him, but he managed to start enough games in 2003 and 2004 which allowed him to develop.

DDG got my MOTM as we could have been out of the game by the time Rash came on had it not been for Dave. Not to say Rash wasn't great though. The way he kept hugging the touchline and stretch their back line in doing so was such a mature performance and he stuck to what Jose clearly told him to do. Great runs and great assist.

He will get opportunities in January with the FA Cup and League Cup games, Zlatan has helped us massively in this winning streak but he will require rest.

Rash can also pop up on either wide attacking role too.

He murdered that full-back... was great to see.

Rashford vs. tired legs is always a winner.

I was stoked when the Hammers, seemingly on the rise, signed a Noggie. But (as usual with Noggies the last few years) he's failed miserably. He makes a handful of mistakes every time he gets a few minutes, and can't cope with the quality of the Premier League at all. He just seems lost.

Great sub by Jose though.
