Rojo and Bailly definitely should be 1st choice at the back. He should not play left back again.
He's a leader, too. Always organising the line. What an incredible turnaround. Went from the forgotten man to our best defender in 6 months.
It really annoys me every time somebody brings this up. Smalling was playing with a broken toe; there's no way he should have been playing that game at all, and it's hardly a surprise that he was shaky.Smalling in particular got rekt by Chelsea in the away game. Nearly all 4 of the goals were down to him.
Brutal today, just brutal. On the ground, in the air, decision making, tackles, passing and no feks given attitude.
Great chemistry between him and Bailly.
Brutal was the exact word I'd use to describe him. He's got the right amount of nastiness needed for a centre back but with the tactical awareness and ability on the ball which is required to play for a top side.
I someone told me at the start of the season I'd be saying these word's I'd just be laughing at them.
Agreed, I was fully onboard the Rojo out train. I'm happy to eat my words now.
What a sad, sad excuse. All those goals came down to poor positioning and overall donkeyness. Nothing to do with a toe.It really annoys me every time somebody brings this up. He's become our best defender. I said before I got promoted I could see Jose turning him into a beast, really flourishing.
Looks the makings of a leader too. There's more to come from him I think
Creepy three-way, that.
His improvement has been staggering, without question the most improved player in the PL this season
No he was injured. Why bring Smalling into this anyway? What a sad, sad excuse. All those goals came down to poor positioning and overall donkeyness. Nothing to do with a toe.
Kante did break his ankles though. Which is inexcusable.
Incredible today and an excellent season when played in the middle. Remember back towards the start of the season and there was pretty much a witch hunt going on to get him out of the club.
I'm still not convinced though. Just summat is holding me back. Can't help myself from thinking he's just in great form and will return to being a bit average in due course.
