Nice to see a player simply earn their place in the team through performances on the pitch, not because they were signed for big money or happened to be the manager's favourite; not even in the reckoning at the beginning of the season, Rojo's first start in the PL came in match 10 against Burnley.

His improvement has been staggering, without question the most improved player in the PL this season

One of the first names on the team sheet. He has completely turned his United career around and has been one of our best players this season.

Had we been in the title race longer, he would have been a serious contender to be in PFA Team of the year as well

Solid and not prone error. The only defender who can stay fit every season as well. Keep him!!!!

Brutal today, just brutal. On the ground, in the air, decision making, tackles, passing and no feks given attitude.

Great chemistry between him and Bailly.

All the stories that have come from his side are about how he's always dreamed of playing for us and is determined to prove his worth.

He is a prime example of a player who has turned his career around purely based on desire and will to be at the club.

He's a leader, too. Always organising the line. What an incredible turnaround. Went from the forgotten man to our best defender in 6 months.

Chelsea didn't offer much but he did well when they did get forward.

:nono:

He's fondly memorable for our fans & one of the first few names being nominated for out going the last few transfers. Even the winter window where some people were entertained by the idea of selling him to China for big money and reinvest on someone else:wenger:

As I have said for a few months now, performance wise as CB, he's up there with current best CBs in the PL. And I was admittedly so wrong about him last summer too.

He's kept all of the top scorers in the league quiet.

So so glad we didn't sell him. What a man. So much passion, so much determination. He can be proud of himself today. Him and his partner Bailly.

His battling spirit helped us a lot today! He was ready to fight and it looked like he enjoyed his battle with Costa

He's very good, I know it gets thrown around a lot here but he's developed into a real leader at the back this season. Has confidence in his own abilities which is great to see.

Have to say when I first saw him paired with Bailly I doubted whether it would work as they're both quite similar: quick, aggressive, front-foot defenders.

It has worked a treat. We've never missed Jones or Smalling less. All credit to Rojo and Bailly - both are excellent CB's.

Brutal was the exact word I'd use to describe him. He's got the right amount of nastiness needed for a centre back but with the tactical awareness and ability on the ball which is required to play for a top side.

I take anything bad I said about him back...
Starting to look a commanding CB who could play here for many years to come.. Jose even had praise for him in the post match..

I someone told me at the start of the season I'd be saying these word's I'd just be laughing at them.

It really annoys me every time somebody brings this up. Smalling was playing with a broken toe; there's no way he should have been playing that game at all, and it's hardly a surprise that he was shaky.
What a sad, sad excuse. All those goals came down to poor positioning and overall donkeyness. Nothing to do with a toe.

Kante did break his ankles though. Which is inexcusable.

He's become our best defender. I said before I got promoted I could see Jose turning him into a beast, really flourishing.

Looks the makings of a leader too. There's more to come from him I think

Incredible today and an excellent season when played in the middle. Remember back towards the start of the season and there was pretty much a witch hunt going on to get him out of the club.

I'm still not convinced though. Just summat is holding me back. Can't help myself from thinking he's just in great form and will return to being a bit average in due course.

No he was injured. Why bring Smalling into this anyway?

I was the same way up until recently when some posters have said he was actually very similar to this season performances back when he played for Sporting.

I've never known my opinion of a player to change so much, I wanted him gone in the summer but I love him now, he's been fantastic this season, he's a real fighter. Loved his battle with Costa.
