Hes a better passer than Smalling

No he's not.

Id guess if you look at pass completion stats you'd find Smalling appears the better passer of the two. If you use your eyes though you'd surely conclude that Rojo is.

Smalling clearly has no confidence whatsoever in his own ability to pass a ball any more than 10 yards, usually square to Blind or back to De Gea. Rojos passing can be purposeful and incisive similar but obviously not as good as Blind. It was poor last season though as was his overall performances. I think like most do he finds it easier playing out from centrehalf than left back which would figure as that would be more his natural position.

He's fine as backup for Shaw.

Hopefully we move him on next summer and then bring back CBJ into the fold after a loan move.

Would rather have CBJ in as cover for Shaw now rather than Rojo.

I think CBJ played much more convincingly than Rojo last season.

I agree, at this point I'd rather offload Rojo instead of having to loan CBJ out.

I'm not a believer in loans when a player looks very close to securing a place in the squad, especially a defender. I would rather they spend time with the team and develop in our own system.

Silvestre was quality alongside Rio in the 2003-04 season before Rio got suspended. Also our best player during the injury crisis in the 02-03 season when Fergie moved O'Shea to lb and Silvestre to cb.

Silvestre must be one of the most under rated players in the caf history.

That switch of him and O'Shea against Basle worked superbly well. When he was switched on he was very good. Bailly reminds me a bit of a stronger version of him, using their acceleration to make defending look easy at times. Never forget his goals on Rio's return from his ban.

Rojo reminds me more of Heinze than Silvestre. Argie CB/LB nutters that love a tackle and aren't the greatest attackers.

Smalling is your typical average English player. He's a mid table player. Rojo has got something special about him. He's a bit like David Luiz in a sense, you either love him or hate him. But the fact is, these types of defenders are always more successful than the likes of Smalling and Jones and Shawcross and the like. The media hypes these guys up as "REAL proper defenders" but the truth is, they never accomplish anything. The best teams in the world always have a defender who takes risks, passes it out from the back and isn't afraid to try something. The media paint these guys as donkeys but its funny cause their accomplishments speak for themselves. Real have Ramos, Barca have Pique and PSG have Luiz. You ask a Paul Merson or a Jamie Redknapp and he will try and convince HIMSELF that somebody like Gary Cahill could do a better job.

Rojo has starred in 3 finals for Argentina in the past 2 years including a World Cup where he managed to get into the Team of the Tournament. Smalling will never ever accomplish that. He's not talented enough.

Having the adidas logo so visible is clearly a marketing strategy, yet this muppet wears a nike hat. There were stories floating around during last years pre season that he was being difficult, this puts it into perspective for me.
No white text?

I thought he actually did okay the last couple outings. After being skinned alive by Dembele in the Dortmund game, but saying that, so was Shaw in the same move so.. Maybe he can actually be a useful understudy this season, who knows.

Can't believe it looks like he's still going to be here at the end of the window. Awful player, and I know Mourinho could likely improve him but I really dislike him.

Also imo there's no point sending CBJ out on loan because as long as he's at the club he'll always be back up to Shaw. So sending him out to develop seems to be just so we can sell him in the future. He'd be a much better back-up than Rojo.

He can't pass. Gives the ball away. Cbj would have been perfect with pogba and martial providing width. But alas we are left with rojo

Nothing to see here. A standard performance by him really i.e. league 1 level.

It's hard to believe he's an actual footballer at times. He'd struggle to get the ball past his daughter in his back garden.

fecking hell, he is so bad. Let the injured Jones play or whoever has a left foot and 2 legs, he is dogshit.

He's way too limited to be a full-back in Mourinho's team, but I guess there's no one else to play him.

Why did we loan out CBJ and keep this imposter of a footballer.

He and Utd are just not a good fit. He'd do well in Sevilla or something.

Woeful woeful woeful. Said I was interested in seeing him get a chance under Mourinho but feck me I was wrong.

I know he's not had any competitive game time but he was fecking up basic positioning time and again.
