Never understood this. Veratti ain't winning the Champions League with PSG anytime soon. Ligue one is child's play compared to the EPL, some players with much higher ceilings prefer a bigger challenge. He won't come though, even if he tried to force it PSG don't need money.

More chance of winning it at PSG than United atm. They have the players and the cash, just need the right manager now.

We have the cash and the manager, they aren't on the same level as Juve atm let alone Bayern, Barca etc. I think people are undermining how exciting joining us could be atm, we have arguably one of the two best managers in world football, the other who is also in the same league. I'm sure it's a very interesting proposition for a lot of players. The premier league has been lagging behind the other major leagues in recent years but the they are making strides as a result of the TV money and influx of top class managers/players incoming.

Yeah, they are better than Juventus.

I'll get started on that Messi transfer thread. It's only a matter of time before some comedy news outlet links us.

I hope the club aren't seriously wasting their time going after Verratti or Pogba. Another Sergio Ramos, Fabregas, etc. Summer would show we've learned nothing.

Is it really that hard? WE ARE NOT IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
At present we also have a worse squad than PSG. That can change in future, but my post specifically said ATM
They also have a better side than Juve, not sure why you think they are not on the level of Juve.

Yeah, they are better than Juventus.

How so? Juventus' ceiling is much higher, if last season is to go by. PSG couldn't have taken the game to a determined Bayern team like they did in the CL.

As mentioned, one year of being out of the competition doesn't change the fact that PSG has been disappointing in the competition for several years now and apart from major changes there is no indication to prove they will win anytime soon. Nor did I ever mention we were a better team than PSG currently, simply said due to the massive changes to the premier league I think people are undermining how interesting a prospect it could be for players.

Never did I say United as of now has a higher chance to win the Champions league, nor did I say united was better. Simply said PSG past few years has been dissapointing in the competition and for the most part it hasn't seemed like they've been making the changes necessary to move forward and close the gap on the elite teams in Europe. If they were to sign top players, a top manager, make the relevant changes, whatever they may be, then obviously this opinion is open to change. That being said, what I meant by my comment was that United signing one of the world's best managers, supposedly trying to sign top tier players along with the major changes to the premier league illustrates a club eager to be back at the top, with the facilities to hopefully do so.

I can't see it happening to be honest. They have a lot of money and a tendency to hold on tight to their star players and rarely even let their bench/rotation options go before they as a club think it is appropriate. Moura was struggling to break in to the first team and realize his talent for years and they still kept him around, and he was happy to stick around as well. Since Verratti joined PSG in 2012-13 PSG have never gone out before United in the Champions league.

The only way I can see that changing is if United have a monster season under Mourinho while PSG have a terrible time transitioning away from Zlatan.

That crap league that gave him the opportunity to showcase his talent? Get a grip.
Assuming you're a PSG fan, do you think this transfer is likely? Can we fob any of our players off on to you as part of the deal?

If we don't sort our shit out, they will be coming for Martial

79m? The world is potty.

I like him ,he's nitty gritty and has stamina for days. He fights for the ball like a Kante but can tackle like a Keano, savage little cretin.
great feet and obvious pace to boot - ridiculous price though.

I'm a United fan and likes Monaco but PSG are not selling their best player, Verratti was their best player even when Ibrahimovic was on fire, when Verratti is on the field PSG become a genuine CL contender.

Would be delighted but can't see it happening for shit unless he forces the move and he doesn't seem to have any reasons for it.

I'd still pay it.

To make it clear, people are happy to mention that Chelsea lost against 10 men in the CL against PSG, the reality is that they lost against Verratti alone.

Nailed it, he ran the show

79mil for Verratti is nothing in today's market, the money in football is bonkers now. West Ham have apparently bid 30mil for lacazette, Watford rejected 20mil+ for deeney etc.

Verratti would be my first choice as he really is someone who can play a role we need. Verratti is a typical defensive midfielder cum deep-lying playmaker. His positioning is generally deeper than the other midfielders, and he chooses to play the ball to the flair players ahead of him quickly, as opposed to keep it to himself. He is a fantastic passer who can pick up the ball from the centre backs and distribute to get counters started, and is great at keeping the ball under pressure. Being a deep-lying midfielder is difficult. You have to be composed in possession because it’s your job to get the ball off the back four and create. The defensive side of things is also very important. Tactical instructions change with every game, depending on the opponent.

I think we're genuinely interested in Veratti, but trying to buy players from PSG is a nightmare. They are loaded with moolah and don't really need to sell a player for financial reasons. Also he only just signed a new contract until 2020. Not much news/rumors about how happy he has been at PSG, so maybe he could force a move but very unlikely. Signing him would be a real statement of intent by United. Maybe Zlatan can convince him to pull a Di Maria on PSG. :smirk:

Some rumours are PSG want Higuain to replace Ibra with and he won't go for less than his release clause, so they may use the sale of Veratti to fund it. FFP annoyed PSG in the past, whether or not that still effects them is not clear, because City don't seem to be effected by it whatsoever anymore.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi:

'Interest from Manchester City in Matuidi? I am not worried because they know that if they touch one of our players, then we will be in opposition to them, and we will go and contact their players too.

'We respect all clubs, but if a club tries to buy one of our players, then it will have to face consequences'

'If Barca pay the buy-out clause of Thiago Silva then I will meet Messi's buy-out clause.'

Al-Khelaifi’s message was reportedly that if Atletico failed to back off (Thiago Motta) he would be forced to try and buy the club.

The man seems a bit insecure for a 42 year old businessman. Anyway Ed and Mourinho ain't stupid, they make one hell of a team, so bring it on.
We could really do with a Verratti here. Injury prone Gündogan is a poor man's Verratti.

What's his contract situation? If there's 3+ years then I'd say there's no chance. But 2 or less and even PSG might not be willing to let him leave for nothing if he's told them he's not signing another contract.

His contract runs till 2018,it solely depends on next manager and if see him as fulcrum of his team then i don't see Verratti leaving in the near future.

He just re-signed until 2021 a few weeks ago.

Not happening, but would pay the world record fee for him. He is young, he's tenacious and he's a playmaker. Playmakers are hard to get by these days, especially on his tier so pay a world record fee for him would be justified.

Couldn't think of a more perfect player to fit into the current United team.

Aye, I don't like going overboard but he's already, IMO, one of the best CM's in the world. When he was out of the City match, you just knew they'd buckle. Dream signing, but totally unrealistic.

I now dismiss any link between Manchester United and €100 million players. There have been so many ridiculous links, Ronaldo, Bale, Neymar, Muller...for crying out loud the red tops even said we've inquired about Messi. Its not worth considering.

First, Veratti plays for one of the richest clubs on earth. PSG does not need to sell its players to anyone. The only concern it has is keeping its annual spending within the financial fair play envelope. If PSG does not want to sell Veratti he will not be going anywhere. Second, is Veratti going to leave medal guaranteeing PSG for Man Utd while we are in the Europa League? Mourinho is a great pull but most elite players won't leave the biggest clubs on earth to come to us while we're not competing at the highest level.

If this transfer happens I will be literally speechless.

As ridiculous as some of them sound, some are true. Neymar's dad did confirm that we were willing to pay the buyout. Bayern said the other day that they got a world record offer for Muller last summer from us.

I know that we are approaching these players. I just think its ludicrous. None of those clubs is going to sell their crown jewels to us. Even if Barcelona did accept the £140 million, or whatever it was, United has not been the kind of club Neymar or Messi would come to. Hopefully Mourinho can change that.

The only way this will ever occur is if Verratti wants out, and there have been no indications that he is not happy in Paris.

In the last few summers we bid for Bale, Neymar, Messi, Muller and Ramos....why not Verratti :)
