None of our midfield players except Casemiro and maybe Bruno wouldn't get into the Bayern team. Doesn't really mean much. For a deadline day loan he's a solid short term replacement.

But that’s like saying that an attacking substitution made after the opponent scores a goal is a ‘panic substitution’. It’s not. It’s responding to a new/changing situation when there’s a time constraint.
 
This is good news. This guy has a great engine and great energy and intensity. Maybe not the same level as Eriksen with his subtle passing and game intelligence but a very good option to cover for his loss.

Yeah, but really we should have sufficient strength in depth to deal with an injury and should have been planning at the start of Jan to get bodies in, knowing we could get an injury. It’s totally reactive and not proactive but this is the United everyone is used to.

Nah. It is panic but panic buys are occasionally necessary. Like I'm big injury situations. Unless you have some good versatility, best case is usually a squad of 2 senior players per position and then some young talent good enough to get minutes who is versatile. We had 2 for that position between Eriksen and Fred, but lost 1 to a big injury so just replacing him on loan. Now it's Fred and him competing.

Reacting quickly and getting a solid player like this who fits and is versatile is actually a very good piece of business IMO. Worthy of praise rather than criticism. Expecting to have 3 players per position is never going to happen nor should it, though long term when we replace McTominay we'd maybe be able to have somebody who can cover both Casemiro and the deep playmaker position. That's where versatility is required.

Muller plays in a different position and Bayern are already stacked in midfield. He was great for Leipzig and considering the options, this is a decent signing.

i'm sure there was panic with Erik when he found out the extent of the injury was basically the remainder of the season....what is great is how quickly he was able to identify a guy that would fit what he wanted to do

I don't get the need for a panic flight?? can't they do the medical in Germany and sign all the contracts remotely.... still guess it is progress from the fax
