He's a decent player, if we played with a 3 man midfield we would be even better.
Don't think we got the ball to him or Casemiro anywhere near enough to judge them all that much.

At least he fights for the team and doing what he does the best, I wish we have more fighters like him in the team.

He's a good player is Ugarte and will get better.
Nobody's expecting him to be Pirlo. But if you wanna play out from the back you need a #6 who is actually comfortable on the ball and start attacks. Think Nemanja Matic/Fabinho. They were no Pirlo/Xavi. They didnt need to be. But they were twice as good on the ball compared to Ugarte.
Ugarte's not a bad player. He''s a trier, so people will like him. But you have to be blind to not realise having him in midfield is a big reason why we keep passing it sideways and never get the ball to our forwards.

So he wins incredible amount but exposes us a lot in the same time, how does that work? And yes, his 1st season and not having a different midfield partner every time is indeed relevant.
Its incredible really, one of better players if not one of very few decent ones this season and he gets the flak for both defensive work and not being good on the ball.
To be fair he does have a tendency for unnecessarily rash challenges which will eventually burn us if he doesn't cut it out and he is too safe on the ball but he is one of the least problems in the team as far as i'm concerned. In fact, I don't even see him as a problem at all.
As with most players in this squad, he is being asked to do a job that he is not suited to so you can't really put the blame on him. On the whole, I love the steel that he brings to the team and he does have tidy feet for a DM and wins a lot of ground duels too which are always valuable. He just needs good ball playing partners next to him and his value will increase.

He does need to move the ball quicker. Less touches. Bring more pace to our game with the ball.

Good thing is Amorim is aware of it, in one of his interviews few years back he said Ugarte is very good at breaking the play but Morten Hjulmand could take ball more forward compare to Ugarte.
Yeah but i imagine Ugarte being more of a voice to point it out to his captain that his player was blatantly cheating.
MOTD on Saturday night all agreed it was a penalty, any other team in the league and guarantee it would have been called a dive.
Not sure where I stand with him if I'm going to be honest. On one hand, I love how tenacious and combative he is. His fighting spirit and no messing around is exactly what we've missed in the team for years, and we are lucky to have him in that sense. On the other hand, I think he is quite a limited player, even though he is doing a great job at doing what he was bought to do, so can't really complain about that. He is a tackling machine and reads the game brilliantly. It has been mentioned here, but he isn't very progressive with the ball at his feet and he dwells on the ball a bit too much for a midfielder for my liking. I'm glad we have him, and he will probably improve as he is still very young and it is his first season in the Premier League, but he probably isn't the difference maker that is going to take us to the top again. Hopefully he will prove me wrong, and turn into Keane.
