Manchester United vs Wrexham (Wed 26th July, 03:30 UK time)

Gore and Fernandez maybe, Kovar is done. He looked good on the games on this preseason but he's 23 already and we just signed Onana who's 27. Unless something really strange happens Kovar wont even get a chance here.
Could be a very good back up for us in terms of his level, but he might have higher ambitions.

Hannibal much better this half.
I think it's because he's playing deeper. He gets to be on the ball more, and he doesn't have to produce end product. He knows how to bring the ball out from the back with his feints, dribbling, and good first passing.

It feels like red cards should mean a plyer goes off but you can add a sub in a friendly. Seems risky for the lads this early in their pre-season to be run ragged.

You're probably right, this is how it works for United at the top level.

For a club like Ajax ofcourse, more players would make the step up.
Yeah for sure. Kovar seems an excellent prospect, had a great loan... But the path to be a goalkeeper for a club like United is pretty much impossible going directly from a youth level. Basically you have to be sold and brought back, or go through endless loans until the ages line up for you, and nobody is staying til 25 to find out. You risk what happened to Henderson basically.

A player several yards offside almost connected on the cross before it landed at the other player, but no interference call.

If you want to be first goalkeeper, yes!

Or the age difference and timing of decline of our first goalkeeper needs to be just perfect.

Really like Oyedele's football, urgent, direct, physical and yet sound. Would like to see him link with Gore in the U21's coming season.

Yeah, it sucks for keepers. That position is too risky to play youth team players. Forwards are always going to have the best chance of coming through. Less risk to play them.

No young keeper will be happy to be number 2 when they don't even have the change to challenge for the starting place.

I'm not sure what Hannibal's plan is when he has the ball? Jumps around like a boxer on crack and then gets fouled. Rinse, repeat.

Surely it's far riskier to let players think they can commit red card offences without it being detrimental to their team? That's just asking for trouble.

Distributing the ball like he just did there. Are you complaining about him receiving the ball under pressure, getting away from him and getting fouled?

Sheesh, imagine paying 500 dollars for this :nervous:
Was thinking about this. I was just about to fly to San Diego to attend the match if I had went and saw this squad, without disrespecting the youngsters of course, I would have feel scammed. Promoting the game as Manchester United and not one single first team player was even on the bench.

I don't know if it was announced beforehand but at least I didn't knew it.

Is that something to genuinely worry about? Most players want to get through pre-season without risking injury and they aren’t going to suddenly dive into leg-breaking challenges for no reason.

Was announced previously.

There was a guy earlier in this thread telling me it was promoted as a youth team game. Personally, I had no idea, and only realised what it would be when the Madrid game was announced. I'd feel pissed if I'd bought tickets and this is what I got to watch.

Just look at his carry now. Could have passed but decided to carry and got pressed by 4 players and lost possession. Maybe it's expecting too much in a 11 vs 10 game.

Yeah, but the other times that didn't happen. He got fouled and distributed the ball thereafter.

I just went back and looked through the endless presale and on sale emails from United pushing tickets for this game… they do not mention youth team players anywhere in the emails, aside from if you managed to decode the images used (non-first team players’ images feature in the montage). Definitely a bit of a con job, oh well.
