Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

Wigan's team look very decent on paper for a championship side

They have not lost many of their Premiership players and have kept hold of players I'd have expected to have left. Like QPR and Reading they are full of arguably lower premiership quality, probably due to the European run. Considering they have opened their league season with a 4-0 win it's not a bad test at this stage of the season.

Think giggs will play amc and will drop deep when defending, zaha and welbeck on the wings for the counter attacking abilities.

Should work well with giggs as a free role picking his Hollywood passes.

Hopefully get to see Januzaj 30 mins if the game is comfortable

Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Anderson, Smalling, Valencia, Kagawa, Januzaj

I had a dream last night that we lost.

Moyes out.

How important are you all seeing this game as? From an outsider's view although not important, I think Moyes could seriously do with a win after a strange pre season.

I see it as quite important, mainly to relieve some of the pressure on him, granted it's been a mental pre-season but some of the snipes from sections of the media are a bit uncalled for. Would be nice for him to break his silverware duck, even if it was Fergie who "earned" it as Moyes himself said.

Giggs in the team? Christ, Sir Alex is clearly still picking the teamsheets. It's the only explanation. There's no way two different managers could have the same blindspot to this player who's so obviously past it.

Erm, loads of people on the twitters are saying that MUTV have just listed Valencia as number 25 today. Could be a mistake but still interesting, is this info legit do we know? I also mentioned it on the Tony V thread, but I need answers dammit!

Steady on

It's on the official team sheet Henry Winter tweeted that he's 25. Oh my word.

I can't wait to see how we play under Moyes.

The last few seasons we've been a bit lethargic under Fergie and needed to go a goal or two behind to really start playing.

Hopefully we will see a lot more urgency in our play from the get go under Moyes.

Isn't 25 taken by Powell?

I heard a Twitter rumour that the megastore were "refusing to sell #7 Valencia shirts". Perhaps it was just confusion with "Nobody wants to buy a #7 Valencia shirt"

Look at this!

13:22 Interestingly, Antonio Valencia is no longer wearing the no.7 shirt number for United. He will wear the no.25 jersey from this point onwards. (MF)

Valencia announced as 25, assumed it was a mistake but he appears to have that on his shorts in the warm up.

I'm guessing we'll see something like this:
de Gea
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Zaha Carrick Cleverley Giggs
Welbeck
van Persie
Nani in for Zaha if fit, and Giggs and Welbeck maybe to switch positions.

Or this.
de Gea
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Zaha Giggs Welbeck
van Persie

I wonder if he requested it. Might have felt one of the reasons for his poor form last season was the burden of wearing such a big number. Speculative, but far more likely than it being demanded by Ronaldo.

I am excited to see Zaha and Januzaj feature for us alot this coming season.

Valencia is no longer our number 7? He requested to go back to his old number according to MUTV.
