0:0 at the break. A tight first-half with United enjoying the bulk of possession but Southampton well organised, nullifying United's threat.

It might need something special from someone to make the difference in this game.

Think we've played well. Just a little lacking in creativity and Di Maria has been very frustrating

We've played well against a good side. Our final ball is killing us though.

Atleast our defense looks really solid.

Despite Rooney and di Maria being quite poor today it's still the most dominant performance I've seen from us so far this season. Look easily like the better team and the fear factor seems to have crept in too.

Need to be a lot more incisive going forward though. Tony has been excellent and Van Persie has been very positive.

In general we are doing ok. Smalling and Jones really seem to be adapting to the formation. They look very comfortable. Some decent stuff but final ball has been a bit shit

Southampton are there for the taking. Apart from first two minutes, our final ball shocking.

I think it's because our forward line is so ponderous that LvG wants to inject some pace into it, which he's done by playing Di Maria up there.

We need pace all across the front though, and Di Maria is much more effective coming from midfield and running at defenders. That's his game.

Switch Di Maria with Rooney. Or take Di Maria off for Herrera and play rooney up top.

Di Maria and Rooney have been very poor. How about putting our best striker up front and moving one of our most creative midfielders into midfield?

Getting in some good positions, but decision making in the final third has been abysmal. Going for the killer-ball way too often when it's not really on instead of being a bit more patience.

Deadly boring football. I guess that's what you get with a striker in midfield and a midfielder in centre forward. We just don't do chances anymore.

We've been good, but our last touch needs to be better, Southampton have a good defense.

Decent half. Final ball a bit off, but we're dominating and defending well with the little they get, but they also have the best defence in the league by a distance so it was never going to be easy.

    The goal will come.

Solid defensively for a change. Can't see where our goal is going to come from though. Di Maria with the touch of a 60k player not 60m.
