Manchester United vs Real Madrid (Thu 27th July, 01:30 UK time)

Presenter: “If you were to rate how much you love Rashford out of 10, how much would it be?”

kid: “I think it’ll be 5-0”

Presenter: “Oh wow, that’s what I like to hear”.

I stayed awake for this ffs!

Man, that’s a great lineup. Let’s fckin go! I’ve honestly haven’t seen a more balanced side in many years. I know it’s just a friendly but I’ve always been a fan of the double pivot with casemiro and another and axing one of our right sided wingers since they’ve been so poor. Amad can slot in though if we pull a Mount and Fernandes and i feel confident. Honestly wouldn’t mind pulling bissaka fullback and having one of Fernandes or Mount covering the right deeper as Amad pushes further.
It really is exciting to see quality players in every position and then knowing you have quality depth on the bench too.

Add Hojlund and Amrabat to this squad and we’ve got some great options.

Ya throwing an 18 year old into the mix v Madrid and see how he fares is an awful call in a pre season friendly :p:wenger:
I dont think its an awful call, but forcing Bruno out wide usually upsets the balance. i do like the idea of Mainoo playing with our first team though.

Bruno had some really good performances on the right last season. It was on the left where he was a disaster

It’s pretty horrific. It’s like the director is trying out new things in a pre-season show as well. She’s definitely getting released on loan before the season starts. She’s Elanga level presenting.

Tbf it aint an easy job, especially in the States. She spoke to a lady at the Wrexham tailgate party.... and as bubbly as she is, she was told to leave that tailgate!!

It's a friendly. He's putting some players in a test while also having strong partnerships in other areas. It's not "strongest 11 and bench", it's a bit of a mix but mostly strongest 11.

The subs are mostly senior players. It'll be interesting to see if there'll be two completely different XIs this match.
.

I've thought and spoke about this in the past, given that most teams have 2 players for each position, I wonder why towards the end of preseason we don't see any 120 minutes or even 180 minute matches? Sounds daft, but our first and second team get 45 minutes each early, then it goes 60/30 then 90/0 - that really can't be the best preparation for our second string. If we can have meaningless penalties at the end of a game, why not play for longer to give our entire squad equal minutes?

This Lucozade Alert stuff is rocket fuel

I'm pretty much running on empty after getting up at 3.30 to watch the United - Wrexham friendly last night.

Really should have got some sleep before tonight's game but ended up not doing and just hoping I can stay awake for it all as I really like the look of this team with our biggest names playing, and our two brightest youth prospects getting starts alongside them.
