Manchester United vs Real Betis (Thu 1st August, 03:00 UK time)

These tickets are just too expensive on this tour, loads of empty seats vs Arsenal too. Similar starting price there too when I was looking at them during the match out of curiosity. Some were over $800 with food and drink for the VIP part and it was practically empty. Saw part of one of City's games and that had lots empty as well.

Didn't catch the Rangers match.

My upper tier was $258.50 at SoFi. That’s the best part of five games at Old Trafford. I’ve always wanted to watch Utd on tour for the novelty but the prices have been silly.

Had a great time in California though.

We need some smart loan deals. Others with so many injuries we wont have enough squad depth

why are our fullbacks and wingers defending so narrow???? such an easy ball to hit the switch wide as they have all day to bring it down and get there head up

I've completely switch off this second half. Who's looked decent? Seen a couple of good moments from Collyer but how has he and Mejbri played in general?

they were the better ones from those who came on. Especially Collyer

Hannibal much better on left.
It's not so much that he's much better on the left, it's that he's much better when he's facing goal and allowed to get his foot on the ball and look to link up in attacks with forward passes - rather than playing as a false nine!

In the Academy and U21's he played in various positions - deeper CM, box to box #8, #10, or wide left cutting inside. He's much more suited to the central roles - ideally, as a #8. But, yeah, he can at least show some of his ball playing ability when wide left compared to when he's shoved up front.

United has badly misused him. Bad loans, no playing time, and when he plays he is badly misused and plays as a false nine or on the wing.

No one said we're going to win the EPL now ffs, stop exaggerating. We're just saying we're playing well, the system seems alot better, and that with alot of non starters playing. You're just being unnecessarily negative.
Well that's a surprise.

Very true. Symbolic of how we've failed to get the best out of a lot of players in the last decade (always worse than the sum of our parts!)

Maybe if INEOS had come in a year or two ago, just as Hannibal was breaking through, then some better decisions might have been made over him? Though as ETH just doesn't seem to trust him to play deeper CM at all then maybe it was always going to be a case of him needing to move on and get a manager who trusts him.

Amad definitely put some muscle on since that loan spell at Sunderland, sounds harsh but wouldn't miss Antony if he did pick up injury

Need to work on a lot of defensive work in training and work on the shape. Look much better in attack but still look like we’ll concede every time opposition attacks us. Still easy to play through aswell.

He’s barely 17 Jesus Christ

This comment would have some merit if he was 5 years older.
Yeah - the same thing happened in the other match, I think the Rangers one. Some of the people on the caf have absolutely zero ability to contextualise a players performance while considering their age. Expecting a 17 year old to be the finished article is completely insane, players like Mainoo being anywhere near the level he is at his age are the outliers, not the norms.

Sounds like Scanlon had a better outing today despite having to play RB again. Though from what I can tell he wasn't tested nearly as much defensively and was given more chance to join the attack on the overlap

i'm sorry but we are just still way too easy to play thru
It’s worrying that we don’t have a single signing out there with yoro now injured and zirkzee not there yet. We need a proper midfield or we’re going to be much of the same as last season.

Yeah he didn't have a mare defensively and genuinely looked exciting when he got a chance to attack down the right. Hard to judge an attacker playing at fullback though, but he had some nice touches after making runs in behind and overlaps.
