I thought while he wasn't dribbling the whole field in U23 Hannibal style, apart from that loss of concentration receiving the ball at the halfway line, he was actually very good.
Never wasted a ball, almost always progressed it up field, always looked for the ball, and got away from trouble without breaking sweat bar that one time. It was a much better performance than all the times he's been played as a false 9 this pre-season. I frankly think he's wasted there (at this stage of his career).
They probably have watched him more than just this one preseason game, maybe?
this being his only pre season game for Manchester United first team? if the basis that he is ready for our first team because he played well for Nottingham forest in the championship being the other games then I still feel like my comment applies. He hasn’t done anything to justify the certainty that he is ready for our first team.

Wouldn’t blame Ten Hag for dropping them all. A big priority for him has to be to instil disciple in the squad and consequently sidelining those who won’t comply.
Bear in mind some were in the stands rather than in the squad. It’s just Ronaldo that’s the issue because I’ve never seen a subbed off player go home rather than take their place on the bench… unless injured.
