Manchester United vs. Liverpool

Even without a whole lot of service, Suarez is well capable of creating stuff on his own. Plus there's the unknown quantity of Sturridge in a Liverpool shirt. Suarez and possibly Sturridge and Sterling. That's a lot of pace and trickery up front to be dealing with.

Still though, at home with our attacking talent, I'd expect us to win.

it could be tricky but if they push up against us we will crucify them on the counter.

at OT we should be keeping possession and making it difficult for them.

Always nervous though:nervous:

Suarez will make a mockery of Vidic at the minute I fear.

I'd be happier with a pacier pairing of Smalling and Evans, it's not like they have any real physicality for us to be worried about.

We should be beating them, because we are a much better team, first in the table, yet no doubt, Liverpool will give us a game, so i hate playing them, because they put up a fight and give us a game on a lot of occasions.

Of course they'll give us a game, its United v Liverpool, doesn't matter where in the table they are or what players we have.

I want us to really give them a good pasting though. Wanna see someone rub it in as well, doing a Neville thrust to the supporters or a Gerrard camera kiss.

De Gea
Rafael - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Carrick
Cleverley - Anderson
Young ------------- Kagawa
RVP

I really hope Anderson is fit to play... Nani would be a welcome boost too. Giggs should be used as as impact sub again while Scholes shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI. Liverpool will most likely go with Sterling, Suarez and Sturridge upfront, I can see them causing us problems with their pace. I reckon we will win the midfield battle though, Gerrard, Henderson and Lucas is hardly something to worry about. Liverpool will miss Enrique, so whoever plays on our right should tear Wisdom a new one.
Can't wait, let's beat the crap out of the Scouse cnuts!

Thanks, you've saved me a post.

Well nearly. :)

How soon some forget that one of the co0ntributing factors to Giggs' improved performances, has been the sift from being a starter to a substitute. Nothing has changed so far as his suitability in being part of the starting XI for a match like this.

If Anderson isn't quite ready then perhaps we replace Kagawa with Valencia, although seeing as Fergie only plays him for an hour even under ideal conditions he could simply be taken off then as per usual.

Hernandez can be our insurance policy.

I just can't see Sir Alex benching Evans, even with Vidic and Ferdinand fit. My guess is that he will play Evans and Ferdinand. Sturridge-Suarez-Sterling is a quick trio, and Vidic is still a bit off the pace at the moment

There are too many unknowns to make an intelligent call yet for an XI. Somehow, I think Rooney will report for duty. We shall see.

Our last match: Liverpool 1-2 United, Rafael 51', Van Persie pen 81'

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Giggs
Valencia Kagawa Nani
Persie

2nd to last: United 2-1 Liverpool, Rooney 47', 50'

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Rooney Giggs
Welbeck

At OT, I would like Kagawa to get another start.

--------------DDG-----------------
rafael---vidic-----evans------evra-
-----carrick-----cleverly-----------
-young-----kagawa-------welbeck-
----------Rvp---------------------

Chicha, Giggs, Tony on the bench as our attacking options.

This probably won't be a popular opinion but I dont think Vidic will be able to handle suarez. I'd put an anchor man in midfield and detail him to double up on Suarez.

IMO, if you stop Suarez, you stop Liverpool scoring.

I am going to be brave and predict that both Nani AND Rooney will make surprise comebacks in this match. Rooney to start, Nani to come off the bench.

This is the starting lineup we have used against Arsenal Chelsea and City this season, I think we will use it again:

................Van Persie .....Rooney
Young ......Cleverley .......Carrick ..........Valencia
Evra ........Ferdinand ......Evans ............Rafael
...........................De Gea

2-1 win to United.

de Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Valencia Kagawa Young
van Persie

de Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Young
van Persie Hernandez

Really expect one of those two, unless Rooney is magically fit. Giggs will make the bench, as will Welbeck, Kagawa/Hernandez, Probably Vidic and Smalling.

Hope we do this lot with a good performance... Seem to say it every time and we never play well, but still get something.

I'm sure lot of people will agree with you on Vidic(me included). No way I'm seeing him starting this game.

That game was awful, truly awful worse than last season's home loss against City to me. In our home loss against City last season in the first half we were the better side and they scored on the counter. When Evans got carded the game was still poised and there's every reason to believe with 11 men we would not have lost as we did, especially as the game didn't really and truly slip away from us until we scored and went gung ho for another goal.

The Liverpool loss was different because we scored first but, for some reason, couldn't hold onto it. We had a very strong spell after half time but that game...I dunno what happened. Unlike Evans' sending off, Vida's dismissal didn't really change the game it just confirmed its flow and for crying out loud even a broken down Brazilian left back scored against us: Their XI wasn't even that good. Then you got the Stevie G/Torres factor... :nono:

Under no circumstances can we afford to lose this. I would love to destroy them but I'd take a scrappy 1-0 now.

Nani to make a glorious return, setting up two, one each for Van Persie and Chich and then scores one himself before launching into his trademark flippy celebration which goes wrong and he injures himself.

Suarez scares me.

He really shouldn't be allowed to appear on television before the watershed I'm sure children cry when they see that face contorted in sarcastic rage..

That 4-1 was a really bizarre game. They barely got into our half in the first half, and Evra and Vidic chose the same game to make monumental errors back when we were defensively really tight.

Then that chubby wrestler looking guy made it 4-1 in the last min to add an even sillier glaze to it.

Got a feeling it'll be 2-2 with us losing the lead at some point. Suarez and Gerrard to score for Liverpool. They in better form than they were when we played them at Anfield and Suarez is scoring for fun at the moment.

If we can take care of Suarez, I can't see them posing much of a threat. I'd love to see both RVP and Hernandez start this. I think that SAF taking Hernandez off when we were looking for a goal yesterday, is an indicator that he will start this one.

Both in terms of form and fitness Hernandez is far and away second in line among our strikers, should Rooney really be walking straight back into the team?

Is not this level of competition what SAF will have been hoping to achieve with the arrival of Van Persie.

And personally speaking, i think Kagawa is most in need of a run n the team considering the interrupted nature of his time at United thus far. Nani too, as when in form there's not a wide player at the club to compare to him.

Liverpool are actually a good matchup for us. It's clubs like West Ham which have a powerful aerial game that scare me more than clubs like Liverpool that keep the ball on the ground, which we're better equipped to defend against, unless Bale is on the pitch.

But Suarez clearly is a massive concern. He's in top form and still must be pissed about Evra calling him out on his racist abuse.

That said, I'm not seeing anything in the Liverpool back line that looks anywhere close to being capable of coping with RvP and Hernandez.

A win for United is a safe bet. 3-1.

Expecting:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Young
Hernandez VanPersie

This team with Rooney for Hernandez.

Rooney's been out for a few weeks and he's a very slow starter. Not sure I'd chuck him into one of our biggest games.

That said, if he's fit I thoroughly expect Fergie to start him.

Because Rooney is a much better player?

In theory or in practice this season would you say?

Hernandez has earned his place in a winning team ahead of Rooney, not to mention the latter having been out injured for weeks.

I think Hernandez and RvP are going to prove too deadly for us. The rest of the team is much of a muchness. Suarez and Sturridge will need to put away their chances, of which we should get a few looking at your midfield/defence. But I can see them succumbing to the moment and missing sitters.

2-1 to you lot.

Expecting:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Young
Hernandez VanPersie
I think Young will start on the right and Giggs is a good shout to start on the left. Him or Kagawa fromt the left...cant see Valencia making the 11. Agree with the rest.

I expect this team:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Valencia Kagawa Young
van Persie

With Rooney for Kagawa if he is fit. The other alternative could be RvP in behind Chicharito, which is a partnership that has proven effective of late.

I think Nani and Anderson might be given a start in the west ham FA cup replay at OT rather than in a big game like this.

Despite the form of Valencia and/or Young, I think they're both more effective on the wings than Welbeck or Kagawa, and I don't think dropping Valencia will help improve his form or confidence. Giggs has been great on the LW in recent games too but I'd keep him as an option to bring off the bench to change things up if/when it becomes apparent that what we're doing isn't working.

How great is it that we almost have a full strength squad to pick from?!

I wouldn't start Kagawa for this he's only just back and in all honesty hasn't been great in the past 2 games (not entirely his fault but still) id start with RvP and Hernandez.

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Young
Hernandez RvP

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Young Carrick Cleverley Giggs
Van Persie Hernandez

Subs: Lindegaard, Vidic, Jones, Anderson, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck.

I think Kagawa will be much better in games that are more open/CL, he seems to struggle with the every man behind the ball system that a lot of teams play against us.

I really want us to stuff them. A la back when Brown scored and then we absolutely dominated them in the second half.

I feel it will be pivotal for both clubs. Will give us another momentum spur and also themselves.

That was Mascherano-gate wasn't it? I'd rather we stuff them with 11 players on the pitch. No room for excuses.

That being said, I think Liverpool will be well up for it. If Rooney plays I'll be a lot more confident.

I want us to win courtesy of the most outrageous refereeing decision imaginable. A lot of Liverpool fans are laughing today at the reaction to the Suarez stuff so it would be funny to see them do a complete 180 if we won with an offside goal, a handball or the ball not actually crossing the line.

Actually, a combination of the three would be cool. A ball over the top to Van Persie who's about 3 yards offside, he controls with his hand before chipping the keeper with a weak attempt, one of their defenders clears it about a yard away from the line but the linesman gives it. Hilarity ensues.

Hmm I believe it was.

Hang on - I may be remembering the game where Rio brought the ball down and arced it into the top corner. Didn't Scholes score in the first half of that game?

They were very similar.

also Shane they would just trot out the same 'ZOMG SEE THE GAMEZ DA CORRUPT BRA' lines they always use. Get an easy draw while we get a hard one 'CORRUPTION', get a hand ball given for us and two blatant non-penalties against us but still win 5-2 'CORRUPTION', have 3 players sent off for nothing and win 1-0 via a tough penalty from the ref 'CORRUPTION'.

edit; deleted my mistake regarding gooDevils post.
