Manchester United vs. Liverpool

I'll be seriously disappointed if we don't win this one. We're in good form (performance wise) and think it should be reasonably comofortable.

feck, I'm getting that nervous excitement already, I just want to sleep through to Sunday.

I remember reading a lot of very similar comments in March 2009 :nervous:

Were they in poor form at that point?

Weren't they thrashing the shit out of everyone at that point? Or did their form come good after that?

A better comparison would be the 2-0 defeat at Anfield last season, I reckon.

That 4-1 still gives me nightmares - day before my 21st. Ruined.

Christ don't remind me. I went out and bought a suit I was that bummed.

Awful, awful day. One of the worst in recent memory.

Predictions of an easy victory for us are fanciful at best.

It won't be easy, but I'd expect us to be in the ascendancy, control the game and subsequently win the game given that it's at OT. We really don't want to be 6/7 points behind Chelsea at this stage.

It's on Fox Soccer Plus(Setanta's new name) so you have to pay extra for it if the cable service even has it available. It's absolutely insane...where will you be? You might be able to find it on in a pub or sports bar.

This is some bullshit.

A match like that should be broadcast in one of the major sports network channels. I guess I'll have to try the online sites, like myp2p.eu.

Yeah, it really is. I'm pretty sure that my provider doesn't even offer it and most don't.

I agree, also Liverpool are in terrible form, if we can't take advantage of that then we don't deserve the points tbh.

form goes out of the window, our form is also patchy too, it be a close game hope we come out on top.

Torres is the threat even though he is out of form but I expect he and Gerrard will be busting a gut on Sunday. I hope Vidic/Rio are ready. I hope for the best but fear the worst.

Exactly. Liverpool will come set up to avoid defeat. Anyone who watched their game against Birmingham will know that. They will be looking to hit us on the break.

Rooney won't play wing, I can assure you that much.

-------Fletcher------Scholes-------
Nani----------Berbatov--------Park
---------------Rooney-------------

I wouldn't be so sure...

I really want us to start playing 4-3-3 more (never thought I'd say that) as I think it is the best formation for the players we have, especially now that Valencia is out. Nani on the right, where he is most deadly. Berba in the middle where he is playing superbly at the minute. Then Waz coming in from the left. Not ideal for Waz but he can be brilliant out there and he will see a lot more of the ball so can hopefully regain some form.

--------VDS

Rafael Rio Vidic Evra

Fletcher Scholes Carrick

Nani Berbatov Rooney

Our strongest team IMO. 4-3-3, 4-5-1 who cares you get the point. Lets give them a proper beating.

yep plus from the left wayne can cut in from the left and shoot with his right foot ala robben on the right wing. This also means Nani plays on the right, which is his favored position.

Carrick injured and not expected back until first week in October. Replace him with Park or Giggs and we are set to beat them up properly.

I'd put Park then. We won't get away with playing both Scholes and Giggs against Liverpool for most of the game. Fletch needs some help with the hassling. Whats up with Anderson? when is he gonna show up for a first team game?

Anderson didn't turn out for the reserves this week, he must be in contention for a spot on the bench.

I have a feeling. After this match, we'll be talking about Rooney's newfound role of an attacking midfielder.

When his finishing is off and till he solve his personal problems, he may be deployed thorough the middle and in the midfield, behind Berba. He's got the energy and vision. It is simply a matter of getting over his own ego, of not being the main man.

There's a slight chance for him to play left, but giving him freedom would be wiser

Watch Torres find his form and bang in 2 goals tomorrow. All this talk about him being disinterested and fed up is nonsense. End of the day, he's going to come in, see Vidic on the other end and know in his heart that he has the ability to make Vida do something silly.

If Rooney or our defence was in any type of form I'd go for a draw, that it's not.

I expect a 2-1 or 1-0 heartbreaking injury time loss and this place to go mental.

I am always nervous as feck when we play pool. Expect Vidic to feck it up, but we should score one more than them

Stop trying to jinx it

I'm just calling it as I see it - I've not seen anything from my team under Hodgson, to suggest our play, or tactics, are any different from last season. Obviously, I'd love to be proved wrong. But I don't expect a classic tomorrow. I believe the best way to beat United is to take the game to them. Sadly, I don't believe Roy's management style lends itself to this bold approach. We'll see lots of neat passing & possession from Liverpool, with very little end-product.
