They are called ‘Gamecocks’ which kinda gives that away!! You can’t ever be elite with that name!South Carolina isn’t one of of the powerhouse football teams though.
Move in for the fall semester isn’t until August 17thIt's a college town known for their college american football team. Maybe they are banking on gaining the support of the college kids?
Bruno and Mainoo didn't play and we are also looking at trying to bring Ugarte in. It's pre season.
Hold up now. I’m a fan of their rival, but you can’t get away with that one. They’re named after Gen. Thomas Sumter’s nickname. Your Col. Banastre Tarleton is who gave it to him after Sumter beat him at the Battle of Blackstock’s Farm just down the road from where I grew up.They are called ‘Gamecocks’ which kinda gives that away!! Always learning a new piece of US history from youHold up now. I’m a fan of their rival, but you can’t get away with that one. They’re named after Gen. Thomas Sumter’s nickname. Your Col. Columbia is indeed the armpit of South Carolina.Thank God you're here to back up my sentiments regarding Columbia and all things Gamecocks.
Maybe not, but they've still got a higher capacity stadium than we do!Damn right they’re not
He tells me this now when I'm in the process of moving within about 50 miles!Columbia is indeed the armpit of South Carolina.
Having even 1 or 2 of them would helpThat's an issue, because a midfield signing seems like a last priority thing.
On ETH's first season, we signed Eriksen on free and Casemiro late in the window because we wasted time on De Jong.
Second season, we got Mount who is more an attacking midfielder, and Amrabat, loaned late in the window again.
This transfer window we've spent about 100 millions albeit on installments, on no midfielder.
Result in preseason doesn't matter much, but performance does. The idea that you need to have all your back four to be world class to make a high line work is baffling.
What brings you to South Carolina? He tells me this now when I'm in the process of moving within about 50 miles!
50 miles in which direction? He tells me this now when I'm in the process of moving within about 50 miles!
Yeah, but it’s empty by the 4th quarter a bunch. Especially when Clemson comes to town.Maybe not, but they've still got a higher capacity stadium than we do!
We’ve had 2 seasons from ETH and he’s not scored 60 goals in either season from 38 games, so yes we have huge problems scoring goals under ETH ball. We're missing what are likely to be all our top goalscorers next season - Hojlund, Zirkzee, Bruno, Garnacho and Rashford only played 45 minutes.
Nothing like overreacting because we can't score in one pre-season game. We scored 3 in the last one. It's a bit meaningless.
Our biggest issue is that we usually don't create any chances. If we always create the amount of chances that we have in this game we'd score bucketloads across a season.
The opportunity to sign Toney has gone. If we were going down that route, we'd had have to have signed Toney over Zirkzee, not both.
I can attest to that. I live in Greenville.Columbia is indeed the armpit of South Carolina.
What!? What part?I can attest to that. I live in Greenville.
Sherwood Forest, just off South Pleasantburg. What!? What part?
West, near North Augusta, half my in-laws side follow Clemson BTW50 miles in which direction?
Yeah, but it’s empty by the 4th quarter a bunch. Especially when Clemson comes to town.
Small world.Sherwood Forest, just off South Pleasantburg.
Yeah… that’s armpit adjacent. And by that I mean almost as hot and humid as Cola.West, near North Augusta, half my in-laws side follow Clemson BTW
Edit: these days so is OT half the time!
I know where it is but have never been in. It's not too far away but Greenville isn't that big. My office is in Mauldin and we'll probably move there next year.Small world.
I was just up at Heydey on Poinsett Highway tonight
Nice. Used to live in Mauldin just down from the high school. I work in Simpsonville now, just down the road.I know where it is but have never been in. It's not too far away but Greenville isn't that big. My office is in Mauldin and we'll probably move there next year.
Yeah I know how hot and humid it is, that's why I try and stay inside with the A/C running, I've been going down there 2-3 times a year for a decade or so, my wife went to high school in N Augusta and she has a lot of family in the area, we're moving down there in the next 6-12 months hopefully, when I retire basicallyYeah… that’s armpit adjacent. We bought the old Mauldin Deli property when they went out of business after Covid and converted it.Nice. Used to live in Mauldin just down from the high school. I work in Simpsonville now, just down the road.
After less than a week of training, I doubt it. I could see some Casemiro experiment at the back if Maguire isn't fit enough though.
Ahhhh nice. I know that place. We bought the old Mauldin Deli property when they went out of business after Covid and converted it.
Gotcha gotcha.Yeah I know how hot and humid it is, that's why I try and stay inside with the A/C running, I've been going down there 2-3 times a year for a decade or so, my wife went to high school in N Augusta and she has a lot of family in the area, we're moving down there in the next 6-12 months hopefully, when I retire basically
I'm a native Mancunian, this weather is probably going to kill me one day, STL is hot and humid though not quite the same level, I won't miss the hot wind though or the tornado sirens!Gotcha gotcha.
I’m down there every few years in December for a big wrestling tournament the HS hosts at the NA Rec center. Will probably be 2026 next time I got to it though.
There were plenty signs of improvement but still plenty of areas to improveSo we're still shite? No visible improvement?
Injuries is part of the game. If we cannot manage injuries then ETH should get the hell out of Manchester. We are still missing players like Garnacho, Bruno, Martinez, Shaw and Mainoo. I think we can challenge for top 4 this season if we can keep the injuries manageable.
Having better luck with injuries will be key towards finishing in the top 4 or not. As for tonight 8 shots on target and few good chances off target that should have been goals. Liverpool meanwhile a lot more clinical with 3 goals from 5 shots on target. We are still missing players like Garnacho, Bruno, Martinez, Shaw and Mainoo. I think we can challenge for top 4 this season if we can keep the injuries manageable.
Managing injuries is important and that is why we have to keep injuries manageable. Last season's injury is ridiculous.Injuries is part of the game. If we cannot manage injuries then ETH should get the hell out of Manchester.
Interesting, there's 2 flights scheduled out from Colombia to Manchester in about 90 mins, looks like the Scousers don't trust their local airport!
