Manchester United vs Liverpool (Sun 4th August, 00:30 UK time)

RedRocket9908: do you even know the rules? He was allowed to pick up the ball! So what if he slipped, he knew there was no one around him. Always in complete control.

Bruno and Mainoo didn't play and we are also looking at trying to bring Ugarte in. It's pre season.

That's an issue, because a midfield signing seems like a last priority thing.

On ETH's first season, we signed Eriksen on free and Casemiro late in the window because we wasted time on De Jong.
Second season, we got Mount who is more an attacking midfielder, and Amrabat, loaned late in the window again.
This transfer window we've spent about 100 millions albeit on installments, on no midfielder.

Result in preseason doesn't matter much, but performance does. The idea that you need to have all your back four to be world class to make a high line work is baffling.

They are called ‘Gamecocks’ which kinda gives that away!! You can’t ever be elite with that name!
Hold up now. I’m a fan of their rival, but you can’t get away with that one. They’re named after Gen. Thomas Sumter’s nickname. Your Col. Banastre Tarleton is who gave it to him after Sumter beat him at the Battle of Blackstock’s Farm just down the road from where I grew up.

Always learning a new piece of US history from you

We are still missing players like Garnacho, Bruno, Martinez, Shaw and Mainoo. I think we can challenge for top 4 this season if we can keep the injuries manageable.

Having even 1 or 2 of them would help

We're missing what are likely to be all our top goalscorers next season - Hojlund, Zirkzee, Bruno, Garnacho and Rashford only played 45 minutes.

Nothing like overreacting because we can't score in one pre-season game. We scored 3 in the last one. It's a bit meaningless.

Our biggest issue is that we usually don't create any chances. If we always create the amount of chances that we have in this game we'd score bucketloads across a season.

The opportunity to sign Toney has gone. If we were going down that route, we'd had have to have signed Toney over Zirkzee, not both.
We’ve had 2 seasons from ETH and he’s not scored 60 goals in either season from 38 games, so yes we have huge problems scoring goals under ETH ball.

50 miles in which direction?

Yeah, but it’s empty by the 4th quarter a bunch. Especially when Clemson comes to town.
West, near North Augusta, half my in-laws side follow Clemson BTW

Edit: these days so is OT half the time!

I know where it is but have never been in. It's not too far away but Greenville isn't that big. My office is in Mauldin and we'll probably move there next year.
Nice. Used to live in Mauldin just down from the high school. I work in Simpsonville now, just down the road.

Yeah… that’s armpit adjacent. And by that I mean almost as hot and humid as Cola.
Yeah I know how hot and humid it is, that's why I try and stay inside with the A/C running, I've been going down there 2-3 times a year for a decade or so, my wife went to high school in N Augusta and she has a lot of family in the area, we're moving down there in the next 6-12 months hopefully, when I retire basically

After less than a week of training, I doubt it. I could see some Casemiro experiment at the back if Maguire isn't fit enough though.

Surely that’s all the more reason to get some preseason minutes in his legs? Most of the lads playing now played their first games of preseason after only a week of training.

Gotcha gotcha.

I’m down there every few years in December for a big wrestling tournament the HS hosts at the NA Rec center. Will probably be 2026 next time I got to it though.

I'm a native Mancunian, this weather is probably going to kill me one day, STL is hot and humid though not quite the same level, I won't miss the hot wind though or the tornado sirens!

Interesting, there's 2 flights scheduled out from Colombia to Manchester in about 90 mins, looks like the Scousers don't trust their local airport!

Injuries is part of the game. If we cannot manage injuries then ETH should get the hell out of Manchester.

We still can't play a high line or play out from the back I see. Ten Hag will be under pressure very quickly if we start the season like this. We are nowhere near ready for City on Saturday.

Having better luck with injuries will be key towards finishing in the top 4 or not. As for tonight 8 shots on target and few good chances off target that should have been goals. Liverpool meanwhile a lot more clinical with 3 goals from 5 shots on target.

Managing injuries is important and that is why we have to keep injuries manageable. Last season's injury is ridiculous.

So have we improved the big gap in midfield? Also how many shots did the scum have?

I must be bored, gone all geeky and looked at aircraft and you're right!

Apparently the runway at Liverpool Airport is 2,286m long, Manchester airport has 2 runways, 3200m and 3048m.

The two flights are on a Airbus A35K (A350-1000) and a Boeing 744 (747-400).

Both could just about land at Liverpool but it's on the short side for take off again. It's rare that aircraft of that size visit Liverpool.

Columbia has 2622m and 2439m runways.

Scousers are lacking in the length department.

What the feck is this thread. Take the travel chat elsewhere.

Questions to those who watched the game.
What formation did we play?
What was Mount role? How did he do?
How was Amad, Amass?
