But 3 of them are part of the back 5/6. Hard to initiate a defender into a defensive team when there are 2 other newbies involved. Its not an issue in the first couple games but it would be nice to have a firmer starting 11 (with limited youngsters) as we come toward the end of preseason

The youngsters need fitness as well. You should play them if you decided to bring them on tour.

Thats why I said I understand why theyve played. Im saying that I hope the last couple games move toward a firmer starting eleven with 2 or 3 youngsters (in different areas of the pitch)

Are there any good youngsters breaking through the Inter team that we can keep an eye out for and maybe sign next year?

I mean world class players like Vidal don't need to adapt. I think Van Gaal won't feck around and will start him in the middle with Harrera.

God what a signing!!!

Yup, we waited for him for so long, LVG just needs to throw him into the fire right away!

Guys, can I ask why everyone's suddenly so sure Vidal's signing? Don't get me wrong, I didn't ever think it was off and felt pretty sure the interview meant nothing, but I'm not sure where all the positivity has come from. I can't find anything to support his signing right now. I think we'll know for sure in the next 48 hours.

I think Van Gal needs to utilize the wings more, too many times are the front players left without a touch on the ball. Get Nani a full game, let him put in crosses from the right, Rafael behind him. I remember when those two played, we would always cause havoc with overlapping runs. Im a huge defendant of Nani. Hes quick, can pass, cross, and play 1-2's. I thought he had a good WC, certainly better than Ronaldo. He needs game time. Its only fair.

He's had some, and he's looked completely not bothered. Probably moreso than any other player on tour so far.

Nani 'can' do almost anything. But there comes a point where that 'can' is purely academic. He is no longer the player he could be, and doesn't look like he ever will be again.

I agree that we need more threat in wide areas though. The wing-backs just aren't working out so far. But after only two games that's probably to be expected.

He was injured all of all last season, had a pretty decent WC. And played well vs galaxy despite being played as a striker. The Roma game, he came on in the 2nd half and got few touches as well as the rest of the attacking team. Thats not his fault. I wont judge him based of a few touches, he deserves a couple games, like some of the other players on our team. Its clear hes not leaving, so why not utilize him while we have him, I support every player until they leave this club.

Vidic has just broken into their team. He's pretty young by Serie A standards and is a solid defender. Not sure if he'd want to join us though.

Will be nice to see Vidal in red, hope he does a Herrera.

United v Inter, Clev v Vida , can't wait to see those hard men fight it out on the pitch. Clash of captains.

More like Evans vs Vida imo. Just feels like it's Jonny's turn to get 90 mins.

Rafael out is a blow, as now we've got to play Valencia there for the next 3-4 pre-season games and probably the start of the season as well. Young was tried there against Roma, but I honestly think he was terrible and that role just won't suit him even if he gets more practice at it (and I still see him leaving United come the start of the season). The only other player we can utilise there is Phil Jones, but I'm not sure if he'd be up to it either. But I guess we could alternate Valencia/Jones playing 90 minutes one game ten 45 each in the other to get their fitness levels up.

As for this game, basically full strength again from the start with Hernandez > Welbeck for me:

de Gea
Smalling Jones Evans
Valencia Fletcher Herrera Shaw
Mata
Hernandez Rooney

Lindegaard, M.Keane, Blackett, James, Cleverley, Kagawa, Welbeck are the definite second half changes I reckon. Nani/Young/Lingard to make up the other couple of changes if LvG goes with what he's done so far (9-10 changes at half time to try and give the odd player(s) the full 90). He should probably give Zaha a chance to do something, but seemingly his mind is already made up on him.

Fancy a 2-0 win in quite another slow-paced game for most of the minutes.

An easy win I think. Not that the last two games have filled me with confidence (kinda has) but Inter are shite and have been since their dominant spell in 2010.

4-1. Rooney and Mata to continue to score. If Chich gets a game it will be exciting to see if Mata or Herrera spot his runs on time, no better pair to give a perfect through ball.

Vidic will score one of his header's and block a shot on the line, calling it now, and then apologise at the end of the match.

I'm predicting 3-2 to us, cause Inter have some class in them, and well they drew with a decent Madrid side so should definitely be taken seriously.

I hope Rooney and Mata can keep this scoring streak up going into the season where it actually matters...

I want to see the likes of Hernandez and Zaha given a run out, and Januzaj if he is off the beach yet.

It's Madrid 3rd string + Bale...

I think we will see a similar team to our past two games I think Van Gaal wants to get some fluidity/cohesion with who he thinks will be in and around the first team for this season. Herrera, Mata, Rooney, Evans and Jones in particular.

feck these late kickoff times, seriously. If we absolutely have to spend pre-season in a different time zone can't they at least kick off at a time which suits the fans based in the UK?

Considering the reason for going over there is to drum up support and raise the clubs profile in America, it'd be less than ideal to play when the majority of the country are in work and thus unable to attend/tune in.

They did that against Roma, LVG was fuming about the early kickoff time (2pm), they needed 2 drinking pauses too.
I think it's better to do the right thing for the players, not the european based fans.
They have fans in other continents too, so it fits them pretty well. Not to mention the people who actually go to watch the game there, would be weird if they played in the morning in an empty stadium just to please the UK fans.

Still probably a decent side by most club's standards lol. Player for player at least. I gotta admit i saw Bale had scored and just assumed it was at least partially the usual crew.

Would like to see Danny and Chico together in the new system for once.

Lindegaard
Jones Smalling Evans
Valencia Fletcher Cleverley Shaw
Kagawa
Welbeck Hernandez

Would love us to try a more offensive version for a game.

--------Jones--Smalling--Evans-----
Rafael---Kagawa---Herrera---Shaw
------------------Mata-----------------
----------Rooney-----RVP------------

I don't think RvP joined the squad yet, or did I miss that somehow?

According to (video: van Gaals interview today) it wouldn't surprise me if he changes the system into 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 with Rooney C-AM for at least 45 minutes.

---------------De Gea-----------------

Valencia-----Jones----Evans------Shaw

---------Fletcher------Herrera---------

Mata----------Rooney------------Young

--------------Hernandez---------------
