Think he should give Zaha a run
Will LVG rush Vidal into this one or will give him a little more time to adapt in training?
Same treatment as Chica. First a few training sessions, then a few minutes in the game. Also depends on when he joins ofcourse and how much he has trained.
So, which players do people want to get serious game-time in this one who haven't had that much yet?
Ideally I'd like Lingard to get some first-half football (given that the first half seems to be the one that we play 'competitively', and the second half is the experimental half). But I'm not sure how that could happen in a 3412, given that the playmaker is absolutely crucial and we really can't afford to start anyone but Mata (or maybe Kagawa) there. And there are no wide positions for him to play in.
Am I missing something? Will LVG rush Vidal into this one or will give him a little more time to adapt in training?

De Gea
Evans - Smalling - Blackett
Valencia - Fletcher - Kagawa - Shaw
Mata
Lingard - Welbeck
Inter are pretty average nowadays so this should be a fairly comfortable game. 3-0 United.
That's the same average team that yesterday beat Real Madrid on penalties.

I would be livid too if I was LvG and saw such a brutal second half performance where United conceded 2 goals having been 3 up. That's at any level. Players get complacent in friendlies, they'll get complacent in the ones that actually matter.I wasn't aware of that. Still confident though, we're taking these pre-season games a tad more seriously than most. Just look at how pissed off van Gaal was with our performance against Roma.
Real Madrid had a very young team out. Illaramendi, Bale, Pepe, Isco, Carvajal and Lopez were the only ones I remember being part of the first team. Second half was a very very young side when Bale and Pepe went off.
You still would think that the Real Madrid youngsters should beat Inter nowadays. Either Real weren't good enough or Inter have improved.
Or Inter Milan are longer in training than Real MadridYou still would think that the Real Madrid youngsters should beat Inter nowadays. Either Real weren't good enough or Inter have improved.
Or had the better day. It's preseason.Or Inter Mailand are longer in training than Real Madrid
They were both pretty terrible. You still would think that the Real Madrid youngsters should beat Inter nowadays. Either Real weren't good enough or Inter have improved.
Am I missing something?
I mean world class players like Vidal don't need to adapt. I think Van Gaal won't feck around and will start him in the middle with Harrera.no, why.
Think he should give Zaha a run
Roma are a better team aren't they? This will be the toughest match so far. Shame they're on so late. First thing I do in the morning is check the scores at the mo
Recently yes, but I can see this being a very tight match. Be a good work out for the players.Roma are a better team aren't they?
Agreed.Recently yes, but I can see this being a very tight match. Be a good work out for the players.
It's good that we're getting games against top teams.
Vs Roma we had James, Blackett, Johnstone (and Cleverley) all starting.. 7 first team players and 3 youngster and a back up player.Hope we play the first team but with 2 or 3 youngsters like Keane and Shaw, instead of either just the first team or just the subs like weve done so far. Playing the youngsters all together isnt that helpful for them.
Re Vidal: In addition to his ability to play next to Herrera in a 5-3-2 (and in a possible 4-3-3! especially if we also buy Di Maria), people seem to forget that you need more than just a single combination in midfield. With our injuries luck, Herrera will play no more than 20 games this year.
But 3 of them are part of the back 5/6. Hard to initiate a defender into a defensive team when there are 2 other newbies involved. Its not an issue in the first couple games but it would be nice to have a firmer starting 11 (with limited youngsters) as we come toward the end of preseasonVs Roma we had James, Blackett, Johnstone (and Cleverley) all starting.. 7 first team players and 3 youngster and a back up player.
