Football Club Twente, sometimes known internationally as FC Twente Enschede, and nicknamed The Tukkers, Pride of the East, or The Reds, is a Dutch professional football club from the city of Enschede. The club was formed in 1965 as a merger of two professional clubs, Sportclub Enschede and the Enschedese Boys. One of such predecessors, SC Enschede, had also won a single Dutch championship in 1926.

The club was formed in 1965 as a merger of two professional clubs, Sportclub Enschede and the Enschedese Boys. One of such predecessors, SC Enschede, had also won a single Dutch championship in 1926. Their finest Eredivisie season was 1973–74, in which Twente battled for the Dutch championship with Feyenoord. The club's mother corporation (FC Twente '65) was declared bankrupt in the 2002–03 season, almost leading to the club's going out of existence. Despite the club's financial troubles, it continued to enjoy success, reaching the 2004 KNVB Cup final, and finishing fourth in the 2006-07 Eredivisie season under the stewardship of chairman Joop Munsterman. In the 2008–09 season, Twente hired former England manager Steve McClaren as its new head coach. The following season, Twente won its first Eredivisie title, winning 16 of 17 matches at home.

FC Twente's trophy cabinet includes the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield, and the Eredivisie title. They were runner-up in the Eredivisie in two other seasons, and finished second in the UEFA Cup. They have also won the Dutch Cup three times, most recently in 2011. Their main rival is Heracles Almelo, and the two clubs play in a Dutch football derby known as the Twentse Derby. The club plays its home games at De Grolsch Veste, formerly named Arke Stadion.

Will probably win, the United admin will have a boner for days up until our next match that we will inevitably feck up. Rinse and repeat. I long for EtH to be gone.

I'd use this match to test something different

I like the look of this but Garnacho should be starting somewhere.

This is the competition all my eggs are in.

Me as well. Top and bottom of it this is the easiest route into the Champions League next season.

No Champions League sides dropping into the competition either so we know the winner comes from the pool of sides currently in the tournament.

We will destroy them - I have no doubts about that....I am more worried about Spurs

Not on TV? So used to these games being played on Thursdays.

Same here. We need to be fecking winning this and going all out for it. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll finish any higher than sixth so we need to win this competition so as to avoid the ignominy of failing to qualify for the Champions League twice in a row for the first time in yonks.

Glad we have got this game midweek. Play as we have done recently and we should come out comfortable winners. Interesting to see who he rotates in.

    Maz…De Ligt…Martinez…Dalot

I wouldn’t rotate too much, we need to get a players playing together with patterns of play.

Have the Europa League fixtures permanently moved to Wednesday now?
No. There's 9 EL games on Wednesday, and the other 9 matches are played on the Thursday. And the following week (October 3rd), all 18 games are on the Thursday.

If we pick a strong team then this should be a comfortable game for us at home - but I never expect us to make it easy as we are usually so wasteful.

Especially important we win with our two toughest away games coming up after it. A win here will take some of the pressure off those. Dropped points here heaps pressure onto them. With 4 very winnable home matches, do the business in them and we can afford some dropped points in the tougher away ganes.

Think we should try a different no. 10 for this game. Under the ruse of "resting" Bruno.

Ugarte to sit at the base, cas/eriksen to play 8 and find the passes/wingers and zirkzee to play 10 behind hojlund.
The press would be there, might lose a bit on the creativity front

Looking forward to this. I think we should prioritise Europa league this season as could be our best route to the Champions League next season.

I can't even remember the last time I saw Twente play... probably about twenty (no pun intended) years ago, so no idea how this will go but we have to win the home games in this new (very, very stupid) format
