Manchester United vs Dortmund (Mon 31st July, 02:00 UK time)

I love the fact that Dalot just had to come into the midfield to help progress play because there was nobody there. The heck are these guys up to?

Williams, Lindelof & Maguire..
Is the defense that cannot keep a clean sheet to save their lives. When the lineup came up, it was clear we would concede some stupid goals.

Decent half. Thought Dalot, Sancho, Eriksen and Pellistri were very good. Maguire, McTominay and Donny decent too. Williams and Lindelof with horrible mistakes, Forsun was a bit shit (still harsh to sub him off before half). We surprisingly dominated apart from the last 2 minutes which were purely on Williams and Lindelof though.

Now get the first team on to destroy these lucky cnuts in the second half, I want 5:2.

2 minutes of braindead defending messed up an otherwise really good half - considering we started without 14 players who would normally start over these. Our best players were probably Eriksen, Pellistri and Sancho - the latter drifted a bit in and out of the game but looked really sharp when he got the ball

Ha, for a few minutes there I thought we'd lost our tendency to shoot ourselves squarely in the face, but good to know it's still there. First Williams with an utterly idiotic attempt at a challenge, then Lindelof doing...something.

Anyway, it's preseason and we were by a country mile the better team out there, lots of positives to take from that first half. Highlights for me:
DVB and Sancho are incredibly tidy and look to link up well. The former in particular with some great timing and one-touch passing. Dalot looks sharp and a great strike. Pellistri could be an awesomely effective weapon, particularly as a second-half sub. Eriksen wasn't awful. Oh and Heaton look just fine as a backup.

Very different vibe than if the half had ended at 41 mins!

Lindelof just loses all his ability when playing next to Maguire.

Or him just flattering to deceive as usual. People get fooled by him looking tidy and technical but time and time again, he has failed Utd and himself. 5-10 good games at the end of last season and all a sudden the past 5 years was due to Maguire/Ole/Mourinho/everyone else.

Peak mental deficiency from the entire back 4. Why are we even bothering with those second-rate clowns?
Dalot has been excellent, Maguire is having a solid half again and did nothing wrong. Lindelof made a mistake for the goal but it was Williams who was the main weak point

Well, best to get these mistakes out of the system now....

Sancho has been good to watch. Though I remember how good he looked in preseason last year, only to go on to an underwhelming campaign thereafter. But he definitely looks a lot fitter this time.

Pellistri needs to go on loan. There is a fine player in there but his last minute decision making is majorly lacking.

Absolutely shambolic defending

No Casemiro in midfield creating a huge hole is the main issue though.
Hasn't been a hole in midfield at all. In fact the midfield has fully controlled both the territory and possession and the chances. Mistakes from a left back don't mean he midfield was at fault.

Dalot while a good strike today isn't good enough defensively. Williams seems flustered after the second goal went in.

Lindeloff, well what a great pass to give away, was not in any position to play that pass.

The forward line has been good. Sancho looks great. Pellistri looks great.

Pre season or not. Shocking defending by all and a lack of creating chances as usual.

Hopefully he changes the line up besides Pellistri.

Blaming that on Maguire tells your everything about our fanbase. Williams was decent until that mistake. Horrible for Lindelof as well. And a great goal by Dalot

Had total control of that contest and United fully deserved their lead. Yet behind half time because of two lapses in concentration in a matter of minutes.

Awful accent on than wan on MUTV

Agreed. His decision making is terrible, no composure when in good positions.

And thus ended the Brandon Williams experiment. A pity as he seems a great lad, but let's be honest, he's shown nothing - particualrly at left-back - to suggest he should be sticking around United.

I thought Sancho and Pellistri looked good in that half, but I'm also wary that the conditions somewhat suit them.

Meanwhile, nice little reminder for the coach of who's a liability.

I think EtH was avoiding a possible red. It would ruin his plans, they were obviously trying to get him sent off.

"We had most possession, we had more of the ball".

Surprised he didnt add ; "We had the ball more than they did, and for longer period of the time as well".
