Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace

I'd definitely take a few positives out of this half: We're excellent at the back (though Palace have no interest in attacking) and the pressing is working quite well too. Need to create more clear cut chances though.

Excellent at the back? the only one time Palace got forward it almost went 0-1, and we are pressing because they are sitting back. I would have like to have seen how we would have handled this relatively easy match if it wasnt for the pen and red card. We would probably score one at some point in the second half but we need to do more against teams that sit back and defend like that.

McManaman sounded on the edge. He's either got a fair wedge on a no-score draw, or he hates United. Fair enough, to disagree with a decision, but he ignited into a ball of rage.

If the contact starts outside the box but carries on into the box then it's a penalty. You give advantage on the initial contact and the penalty for the subsequent contact.

Ah, I missed the replay there again. Was there another man getting back before him?

Turns out there wasn't after seeing all the replays, the first replay I thought there was, but after seeing it a few times he wouldn't have got anywhere near the ball or Young.

Used to be a fan of Warnock until 2007 and since then he's hated United because of "we let" West Ham stay in the PL.

It's a good job Palace are so awful on the ball because we've been a bit of a mess.

Rooney has been hit and miss, Rio is asleep yet again (why hasn't this been addressed?), and Young is wasting every bit of space we manage to work.

Palace's only tactic literally seems to be passing the ball to United players.

The distribution from the back has been slow and hospital ball prone again. We need Evans back.

Hope to see Anderson, Valencia and young subbed off for zaha, januzaj and fellaini sometime in this half.

Maybe BT are using this as an opportunity to produce some kind of bizarre abstract live comedy? There is no way that could ever be considered as proper analysis.

It was a clear red card. Not sure about the penalty.

The performance has been okayish. Got better in the last fifteen minutes.

I thought it was both.

I hate the diving and cheating, which is why I simply cannot warm to Young, lots of players do it, plenty of ours, but he is consistently diving, and I would rather he didnt do it in our shirt, but that doesnt mean every time he goes down he is cheating, it was a penalty, and because of that the ref had to send the player off. The rules of the game should allow for some flexibility to be honest, because I don't think it helps the game him being sent off. I think it will actually make things tougher for us as well.

Why so much negativity (I know, I know.. matchday threads are terrible)? We've been dominating the entire game.

Steve Mcmanamamamaman just doing what he did on Setanta then ESPN before, basically crying because the team doesn't try hard enough to take points off United or the ref doesn't cost us points. Its all he does. He hates it when its an easy game for us. How he gets work I'll never know. That face, that voice, those comments, that brain. He has nothing.

For those of us not watching BT, can someone give a quick summary?

* Warnock is outraged
* You're only allowed to run in straight lines
* David James thought Young's booking should've been a penalty, the other two disagreed wildy as they were showing various stuff on a small football pitch.

SCENES!

Disappointing performance from Anderson so far, Fellaini will surely come on for him

It's really depressing, isn't it? I keep telling myself not to bother with the matchday threads but when I'm watching it at my computer it's really hard to look away :(

Shurrup about the penalty, you BT bastids.

It's frustration more than anything. Not much different from a lot of games last season where our domination didn't yield results in a timely enough fashion.

Would they show 100 replays if it was Norwich who get a similar pen next week at home to Villa?

Because we've created feck all at home to crystal palace. We're so comfortable because of how shit they are.

The fact that they are continually showing the penalty incident just goes to show that there was clearly some doubt as to whether it was legitimate or not. For me, Young was going down just before the contact and it was well outside the box.

If the contact starts outside the box but carries on into the box then it's a penalty. You give advantage on the initial contact and the penalty for the subsequent contact.

But it was so tight and close together wouldn't the subsequent contact deem there to be no advantage and the ball would be pulled back to the initial challenge.
