Manchester United vs. Chelsea

Im concerned Mourinho us going to start Lukaku against us. Would much rather they played Torres.

using Giggs as anything else except a potential impact sub in this game is a "death wish" on our end...and it hurts to write this, but the truth is the truth.

This has been what I've been most anxious to see, how Moyes uses him this season. He is still very effective when used properly but with the current list of injuries I'm not sure we have too many choices.

Chelsea in the Hull game pressed hard when they lost the ball, we will need to keep possession and run them around a bit for the first 25 minutes.

I see Giggs starting. The same team that started against Swansea. This would be a mistake.

Either Rooney or Kagawa should be starting. Anderson for Cleverley who was anonymous against Swansea.

We need to press Chelsea high up the pitch, their weakness is their average defence, give their attack time and they will hurt us.

Cleverley wasn't "anonymous against Swansea" in the slightest. I could see Zaha running Cole ragged, but I doubt he will start this game. I think Valencia and Giggs played very tucked in against Swansea (probably to give us more presence in midfield), with most of the real width being provided by our fullbacks, but I can see wing play featuring more heavily in this fixture - big wide OT pitch and the fact that we usually get joy against Chelsea down the flanks.

I personally wouldn't play Rooney. Chelsea will probably try to unsettle him with another bid mid-week, and who knows what we will get from him against the team he wants to play for?

I hope we get to see :

Jones Rio Vida Evra
Carrick Cleverly
Nani Kagawa Welbeck

Im not sure if nani is fit though, and valencia might be preferred for his defensive contribution. Also, if he manages to have a good game, he will tear cole to shreds.

I'd rather if Nani started in place of Valencia, he always plays well against Chelsea.

I doubt Giggsy is going to start three games in a row then. It has to be either Nani or Kagawa on the other wing.

Martin Atkinson has been appointed as the referee of this game. Well done.

Genuinely don't understand how the Premier League can appoint a ref who gave completely inept performances in this same fixture - two years in a row - again.

Was dreading this game, but after our performance vs Swansea (I was expecting the result) and Chelsea's inability to kill the game off against Hull - I can not wait for this.

I'd say killing the game off is exactly what they did. It was an old school Mourinho Chelsea performance: start fast, score twice, then shut up shop for the rest of the match. Not fun to watch but effective.

I'm with you in general though. People expecting an easy Chelsea win are as wrong as the people who expected us to look weak against Swansea. I'd say the odds are fairly balanced going in. Except that they've got Atkinson, obviously.

Chelsea play 3 games before they play us next Monday (18th, 21st + 23rd).

Excellent.

Nah; 18th Hull City, Villa on the 21st, us on the 26th and Bayern on the 30th.

I can't believe it took until page 3 for someone to correct that. Cheers man.

Sarcasm.

First time i've been confident about going to OT for a long time. Confident of not losing that is, you can never be confident about winning at OT. Banter aside I can totally see this game being a score draw and I think both parties will go away happy with that, not sure either side is really expecting to win.

Huge game, this. Need to send Jose a message. If they win, he won't stop going on about it. The media love in for him is pathetic.

Why do you expect us to be content with a draw at home? We've just come off an impressive opening game and full of confidence, I don't see why we should be happy with anything other than a win.

I always expect us to win at OT. That said, will be a hell of a tough match.

Fergie's gone, united are shit without fergie, was a a average team with a great manager etc

New manager, coming up against Jose, never going to be easy. I know you act bullish, but I doubt you would be that upset with a draw.

Plus Atkinson is the referee.

Moyes has faced Jose before. Plus we have a better team than you. i don't feel scared. United expect to win at home.
