Manchester United Vs Charlton Official Match thread

yet another boring play by united, long ball, long ball, and long ball, long ball, cant usee why arsenal score so much? they play in midfield, not long ball, long ball, long ball and long ball

GO UNITED! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

To be honest I didn't think we had been playing that well -- Ole almost got through once and Scholes had a chance but apart from that ... we seem to lack a urgency, a passion .. can't figure it ..

Right, I'm off to jump out the window.

I agree.

But the facts are that we have messed round with the team, both personnel and formation, for game after game. The players are used out of position, and even if they're in good form, they get "rested". How the hell can teamwork develop in these circumstances?

The only time we played consistently well last year was when we played as near as dammit the same team week in week out.

Today we're playing (apparently) three in midfield - another change!

if players aren't match fit then they aren't match fit. i'd rather lose a game than injury a player long term....

We are 45 minutes from losing what could be our 3rd game of the current campaign! According to Sir Alex, you cannot afford to lose 5 or more in a campaign if you expect to be Champions. Not only that we lost in the Champ. League qualifiers to some Bunch of Yak Farmers! Lads, this is indeed the time to pull up your socks and show some passion! Sir Alex, STOP experimenting! If 4-4-2 isn't broke then why fix it?

I'm not talking about players who are injured. I'm talking about rotation. It's got out of hand.

who is an example right now?

I don't think we have anyone at the club to inspire the players.

I wonder if this goes back a year - the ruthless sale of Jaap Stam, for whatever reason, must have affected the morale in the dressing room.

If nothing else it must have given the players the realisation that Fergie isn't their dad, and has no such fatherly feelings - they are commodities, nothing more, nothing less.

If only Veron WAS playing! How can we defeat Bayer Leverkusen (even though they are 15th in das Bundesliga......Buschhh Buschhh Buschhh) and return to the might Valley and be one down? Football is indeed a funny old game!

NEVER WRITE OFF UNITED!!!
C"OM YOU GUYS! WE'r ONLY A GOAL DOWN AND YOU ARE GIVING UP ALREADY?

TRUST ME... WE"LL OVERCOME THIS IN THE 2ND HALF

It's not a question of right now. It's what's been happening for two years.

Today it just seems to be a case of not playing in the positions that suit the players best.

Very true, our team is lacking confidence, and they're not going to get it by playing out of position, and different positions, each game.

Interesting theory...I often thought about Kidd leaving -- he was the father figure to the younger players, and he seemingly used to run between them and Fergie when necessary. Now ...

How can we beat Arsenal 6-1 less than two years ago?

We tried to fix what wasn't broke. I know we needed to approach Europe differently, but we tried to do it in the PL. We're now stuck between being a PL team and a European team.

Our Technique seems very poor for some reason. When I watch good foreign teams like Barca and Real and co.... They have a system where everyplayer is in a certain position when the ball is in a certain area of a pitch. So instead of having to constantly look for players to pass to, there is an automatic option. There's no off the ball movement, where everyone is working for each other. The hunger to ask for ball isn't there. And when Van Nistelrooy isn't playing we lack any decent movement and imagination up front. I'm looking forward to the transfer window in December. Ronaldinho, perhaps? Maybe Djebril Cisse?

Like we looked forward to Van Nistlrooy, and Veron, and Ferdinand.......you can't build a house without proper foundations.

You read Keano's book? His view is that some players after 99 thought that we never need win a game again. He also thought that all the players were in the comfort zone cos the premiership was too easy - can't say that now. We can't know who's hungry and who isn't, but Alex knows, and if they aren't then I don't care who they are, they should go.

Charlton dominated midfield and thoroughly deserved to take the lead.

Our midfield and full-backs were pants.

We will come out with alla guns firing in the 2nd half...i'll only be worried if we still trailing with 10 minutes left, i've seen so many UNITED games that they had come back from a defecit, so don't ya worry!

Forlan should be forlorn for such terrible play. Running around without direction and don't really know what to do. Hope he will improve in the 2nd. half.

Yes but, Cole and Yorke left, and we got van Nistelrooy. The lack of cover in proven quality always worried me before this season. Also Veron was brought in at a time when Midfield wasn't a necessary purchase as we had other areas to develop. Defence will prove good signing in time, but damn we need some full back cover!

We hear so much about these phantom players (tho no-one seems to know who they are) .....but who's to blame? Fergie imo, because he has stubbornly continued to use players who weren't in form, thereby giving them the idea that they were indispensable. Those will be the players without hunger.

ruud is warming up.....come on RUUD!!!!!!!!!we need you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
