Manchester United vs. Arsenal

They had Spurs when Spurs were trying to gel about 5 new players into their team. Most teams would have beaten them that day. Liverpool they had at home, I'd expect them to win that. And Dortmund they lost to even though Dortmund were missing both their best player and manager.

Virtually everyone expected them to lose to Tottenham, let's not rewrite history here. No one expected them to keep out Suarez and Sturridge. As for Dortmund, they're still the second best side in Europe at the moment.

Most folks expected them to lose those two games and get blown away by Dortmund, none of which happened. It seems like it's really hard to give credit where it's due here and I always wondered why. Even the Napoli game they were expected lose at home.

I know they're top but I still expect us to be good enough to take all 3 points. Need to make these big games count more than ever now.

We beat Liverpool at home with a 2nd string side pretty much, so that also puts things into perspective. Arsenal have improved, that's not in doubt, but I still think that our fans, as well as some Arsenal fans are getting ahead of themselves.

My concern is that we haven't counter attacked very well at all this season and hitting Arsenal on the break has been a tried and trusted gameplan against them over the years.

If we can draw Koscielny higher up the pitch and isolate Mertesacker 1v1 against one of our strikers, we'll have a good chance.

Also hope Nani plays and attacks Sagna as well as he did at the Emirates last season. Our wingers will be key since you'd expect Arsenal's wide players to go narrow and leave space for the likes of Valencia to attack.

We handled Ozil pretty well in the Real Madrid games last season but a lot will depend on Carrick being fit.

We'll pull out a performance like Chelsea '05 or Arsenal '04.

Basically, we're a bit shit right now but we can still turn over our rivals even when they're a bit better than us.

The amount of people who think Arsenal are better than us is bizarre.

Think i might just show up again in March when they've combusted, and it's the usual 3 up the top.

Based on this season...yes, they're playing much better than Utd.

And they haven't 'combusted' in the latter part of the season for about 3 years. They've started poorly as a result of losing their best players. Haven't you all been paying attention?

It's funny. The idea of Arsenal winning the league this season is hilarious.

I'd be shocked if they finish in the top 3.

Omg you seen Arsenal this year dey got Ozil and they r so gud.

Can't remember the last time I felt this pessimistic before we played Arsenal, it's strange.

Arsenal have to be favourites. Even if they're not actually a better team than us they're still in much better form. I'd worry about how we're going to compete in midfield especially.

Still, a win here would be a massive lift.

We need Carrick back. Is there a chance he'll be fit?

The way things are going this season, we just cannot seem to give a performance which makes a real statement like City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have done. Our overall game has been poor and we easily get out passed and out muscled in key areas of the pitch. We are beginning to get a decent run of results but the opposition has been poor in general. Now we are up against the best team in the league so I really don't expect us to go out there and kill them like people are suggesting. In all likelihood it will be a draw which wont be a great result for us. Or one of us might nick it, likely them. Given how things have gone this season, I cannot see a swashbuckling victory for us on Sunday.

When did Liverpool make a statement performance?

De Gea

Rafael
Vidic
Evans
Evra

Phil 'Jones' Jones
Carrick
Cleverley

Januzaj
RVP
Rooney

I like this a lot. I don't think we should go in to this game with only two in the middle and Jones and Cleverley have looked very good together. This still gives us Nani and Chicharito to bring on if we need a goal and Valencia to help protect a lead.

Now, I don't know if they can keep it going, but they are on a very good run playing really well, so it will be a good test for Moyes. No more "early in the season" excuses. Players would have to turn up. Unfortunately, I don't see how our midfield can cope. Our only hope is that they don't like the physical approach, and that's what we will offer.

Don't even think an away win against Dortmund will convince some posters that Arsenal are the real deal this season. We will have to be at our very best and hope Arsenal are having a slightly off day to win.

We're playing the best team in Europe, with (supposedly) the worst United team for decades. Always good to be the underdog.

Very good win for them tonight, they played well.

We'll still beat them though.

feck me they're good but people are talking like they're Barca here

I am worried about this now. If their midfield plays to form we will be in big trouble.

They are in great form.

We lose and we will be too far behind to even consider the title

But what an opportunity Sunday is to make an actual statement for utd. It's a huge game.

They are convincing me - whilst I still expect the money of Roman or Mansour to win the league, it's getting hard to ignore how far Arsenal have come.

They should be firm favourites this weekend, and rightfully so.
