Manchester United vs. Arsenal

We need to win. Whatever the weather. This is a biggest United v Arsenal game for awhile, simply because so much is riding on it. Haven't felt like this about an Arsenal game since 2004/05. Yes, there have been Arsenal games that have been, in reality, far more important e.g. 2006/07 away (which we lost didn't we thanks to Henry?), 2007/08 at Old Trafford in the title run in (Owen Hargreaves. LOL!), the Champions League semi final away tie in 2008/09. But this, this is our season. This is not a hurdle to jump if we're gonna win a trophy, this is about being in the race.

He's been out for a last 5 matches or something, who knows.

What's this about supposed rvp injury? Is it bollocks?

Yes it is. Chelsea fan spreading bollocks on twitter by changing their name to say Manchester United and having the badge as their pic.

Everyone: Before posting stuff in this thread, just double check what the post is, who is saying it and any links.

Sigh. Tiresome twitter bollocks

I think we'll pull this one off. Nothing better than watching United when we are up against it.

Feeling nostalgic anyone...?

More nostalgia...

A big name signing who was doubted did it on the day back in 2002/03. Can it happen again?

I reckon he'll go Carrick-Cleverley-Jones in midfield. Probably means no room for Januzaj as I'd go for Valencia, van Persie and Rooney then as the front three.

No way can Januzaj be dropped.

I think our best chance of beating them is taking the game to them. No Nani, Januzaj or Kagawa would be disappointing albeit unlikely considering Nani and Januzaj were left out midweek.

I'd say your best shot would be to do what Dortmund did, absorb our pressure, get us pushing for a winner with our fullbacks up and then hit with a counter.

If RVP is out then I'd really hope we went for Kagawa in the hole, I think a clev/jones and carrick trio would just be overkill, not enough threat there particularly with us still not being as creative as we can be out wide.

I think you'd be content with a draw though - we're not really in a position to be absorbing pressure either, we've been lax in midfield and defence all season. If we setup similar to how we did at the Ethihad I'll be worried.

I'm not sure we want a draw, a win would be such a statement and surely this is as good a time in recent memory. Wenger too will want to quash the talk that United have our number, it would hurt his pride hearing that every time we play.

Depends what the odds are. If you're offering it as 50-50, only a fool would bet on Arsenal!
Ai ai ai. Without getting into complications, I'd prefer arsenal to take this.

It's obviously impossible to detache myself completely but if I try to be an outsider looking in whilst Arsenal are the form side in Europe it's at OT and the game will mean more to the United players.

United win or draw. We won't lose.

That's a very misplaced confidence to have. We have been poorer at home than away this season. Not to mention that our team has looked devoid of any enthusiasm lately. Not to say that I don't want us to win. I'd be jubilant. But plainly on merit, I'd expect Arsenal to kill us off. That and I'm a pessimistic bastard

Feeling rather pessimistic about this one. We'll have to have some generous slices of luck, play out of our skins in midfield, or Arsenal's midfield to have a stinker, to win this one.

If Robin being unavailable is true, Moyes will take another large step towards convincing me he knows what he's doing if he goes:

--------Rooney---------
Januzaj - Kagawa - Nani
----Jones-----Carrick---

+ back five.

Or Rooney for Kagawa and Chicharito up top.

Either one of the two. Preferably the first.

At the moment Arsenal are the only top-half PL team we could try this against relatively risk-free.

Hoping for:

RVP

Januzaj - Rooney - Nani

Fellaini/Jones Carrick
