Manchester United Summer Transfer Window 2015: What do we still need?

I think we really need an experienced winger who can go down the line and also come inside. We're not dropping Rooney so all we can get for him are backups but because of that we need to make the wide areas strong.

We need a pacy winger and I wouldn't mind a late bid for Mane tomorrow.

This.

I can't see us dipping into the European leagues tomorrow given their window will have shut so they wouldn't be able to replace them.

Mane would be aces in my book - even before his performance against Norwich.

So which strikers are really available? Or is Martial the striker? I'm confused. He looks like a left forward to me.

Berahino and? Mane? Austin?

Could be Zlatan and Reus in tomorrow? Or Mané and Gaitan.

Surely if something was going to happen tomorrow then we would need to be close to it been sorted, and the leaks would be appearing now, think we must be done, just hope we keep Wilson, and Rojo.

I don't think Martial changes anything. 50, 60m or whatever it ends up being and I don't think we're even a little closer to winning the league. Rooney and Ronaldo took a few years to become title winning players, Martial and Memphis will both be hit and miss for a while.

We've spent a fortune and the squad still needs loads doing to it.

Navas for the former and Martial for the latter confirmed. I doubt we'll be getting a new CB.
I don't think Martial is the answer to either of those 2 positions at the moment. He's only 19 and played handful of games in France. It's mental if he's for most of the time in the first eleven. Should take Januzaj place first. But with our philosophy you never know.. Wilson is probably getting shipped out too, so another player short in attack.

Overall, we have done fairly well.

Shipped a ton of deadwood. Got a decent fee for our two most valuable players - DDG and ADM. They didn't want to be here. Can't do much about it.

Bought some good players.

Didn't get the 2-3 star players we need but they simply aren't out there right now.

We broke even and cut the wage bill a lot. Thus, hopefully next season we can get the real players we need.

Let's assume that DDG is out, Keylor in. If Griezmann and Martial are our only two additions, with no further subtract Fiona, is that enough for us to be able to challenge for the title and in Europe? I still think we need a match winner to put us back in the upper echelon, like an Aguero, Suarez, Reus, etc. Greiz and Martial alone won't cut it if Rooney proves to be finished, as many on the caf feel.

If we are so lucky as to sign GriezmAnn.

I don't think we will land Griezmann on last day.Do Atletico have any replacement if he goes?

LCB and RW are still pretty massive holes.

Add Griezmann and a CB and while we're likely too young to win the PL this year (kids aside, we'd have lots of players not yet the finished article), we'd look pretty good going forward:

------------Rooney------------ (Martial, Wilson)
Memphis-----------Griezmann (Mata, Januzaj, Young, Pereira)
-----------Herrera------------- (Mata)
Schweinsteiger--Schneiderlin (Carrick, Herrera)
Shaw----------------Darmian (Blind, Rojo, Valencia)
--------LCB----Smalling------ (Jones, Rojo, Blind, McNair)
-----------Madrid------------ (Romero, Lindegaard)

Plug a good LCB in there and it's a fine team. Long-term, Schweinsteiger + Carrick will need a replacement, passing CM soon enough and obviously the hope would be that Martial develops into a good starting 9 quite quickly.

But that team could do very well. Not a ton of playmaking from the wings and the CMs might look better on paper than in real life but defensively solid and there should be 3 double digit goalscorers up front.

Really seems like we should have gone for whichever one of Otamendi or Laporte we preferred at LCB a month ago when it was still reasonable to do so, along with Pedro, who could always have been coldly re-sold next summer if Bale, Reus or Griezmann were available.

Someone who isnt a muppet..can you genuinely see us snaring anyone else other than Martial? Im usually pretty down to earth with these things but getting rid of Januzaj and Chicharito definitely sounds like were making room for someone or 2

Is the window for buying from Europe closed after midnight tonight?
We can still buy from Europe until 6pm Tuesday. However Europe cannot buy anyone after close of play Monday. Since European clubs won't be able to source replacements this window, a marquee signing from Europe, whilst possible, seems unlikely.

Fact is that we've sold Hernandez, loaned Januzaj and looks like Wilson is off on loan to... the three players LVG named as cover for that center forward position, makes me think we are either pretty stupid or we have someone else coming in apart from Martial. Knowing this club though, i think we're being pretty stupid.

Here's hoping for Greizmann or Rues but it'll probably be Mane.

Honestly think we'll be playing Rooney as a 10 again and Martial as number 9. Or Martial on the right and Mata at 10.

We pretty badly need a winger all of a sudden. If Memphis and Mata are both injured, then who do we play? Young and ... Valencia? It's a weird case when we've got more goalkeepers than we do strikers or wingers.

Our striking options are still weak, despite spending £36million, and will most probably end with us using Fellaini as a striker in the last 20 minutes of most games.

I think we saw on Sunday what most teams will do to us in putting their striker on Blind and trying to isolate him. I have my doubts we'll still be playing Blind as a centre back at the end of the season, but then the other options are quite thin and/or injury prone, so maybe we will.

In goal is where we needed a reliable keeper, and the whole De Gea mess might have scuppered that last minute too. If De Gea stays, who knows what mindframe he'll be in after the shambles of the last 24 hours/few months. Does Navas really want to be at United? Are Romero or Valdes truly good enough?

It's a weird feeling when centre mid is the position we have the most options in suddenly.

We are getting Martial and that is it!!! Useless window from us again. Surprised we haven't sold old Trafford.

Surely nothing going to happen, there isn't even any smoke about any deals.

Sky just said Galatasary are trying to sign Oxlade C - surely we should be in for him though can't see it being true.

Woke up this morning with a strange, intangible, metaphysical, preternatural feeling that we're going to sign Ibra.

I also studied a sheep's entrails and divined a figure with a large proboscis.

I think it could be on.

Schneiderling, Schweinsteiger, Depay and Darmian also came in this window.
Amazing how many people forget that. Imagine the scenes if we signed them today but because it was done early (praised at the time), it lacks the excitement and therefore invites criticism because there is nothing to cheer today.
