The perfect summer imo, would cost a little over 100m too.
I wonder at times watching Schneiderlin if he simply doesn't have enough on the ball for LvG's tastes, he's decent but not a stand out. I actually would like to see us take a look at Kramer and I've liked what I have seen of Andre Gomes, both would had height and strength to our midfield options. With Gundogan I am hopeful he can regain his best form and be a versatile option across the midfield.
Hummels or any other top CB, Gundogan, Right back, Depay, Dybala or Lacazette and we're set! 
His passing is certainly good enough in my eyes and he's also not bothered by being pressured. What I probably like most about him is that he's a leader in the middle of the park. Like Carrick he knows where to be and he tightens up spaces, which is more noticeable watching them play live.
Sounds awfully familiar to what people have been saying about Carrick for years, don't you think?
Kramer is going back to Leverkusen this summer and IMO he's clearly inferior to Xhaka talent-wise. But yeah, the general idea of adding more physicality paired with skill on the ball like Javi Martinez or Matic is something I hope we bring in.

I guess a healthy debate wouldn't hurt, whats your problem with Ings exactly?
Well I was referring mainly to his passing, it's solid but Carrick is incisive the way he threads things together for us, I think that is maybe what LvG values in a #6 most and in a #8 he seems to like a more dynamic type of player looking at some of his other sides. I'd also say the biggest knock on Carrick wasn't that he doesn't stand out on the ball, it was that he was soft and struggled when pressed hard. Certainly if we wanted to move to a 4-2-3-1 where we played 2 CM's and a #10 Schneiderlin would be ideal partnering Herrera and taking the job of plugging the passing lanes.
Kramer vs Xhaka I am not so sure on personally, I think Kramer has a lot to his game as well. I agree another physical option with more technical ability than Fellaini would be good to have as well though.

Good to see you around RHD, apart from Clyne I can dig that list.
He's not United quality imo - far from it. We've a pile of money to go for who we want man - why settle for a player, just because he's done a decent job for a near relegated team?
The club are aiming much higher than Ings.. i hope so anyway..

Clyne wouldnt be my 1st choice either, but my knowledge of who's shit-hot & who's not on the RB world stage - has dimmed this season. So im not well-informed unfortunately.
There's always plenty of top-class defenders that go under the radar, so i'm really hopin we tap into that - instead of goin for the likes of Clyne. Coleman would have been a really good choice last summer, but his injuries are a bittuva concern & he's pushing on a bit now.
Young, extremely talented & hungry as f*ck is what we want. We thought we were gettin that with Shaw, but that hasnt worked out yet. Next season, we'll hopefully see his better fit self
If we could maybe add Schniederlin to that and not bring in Danny Ings...would be an amazing transfer window.
You could say that about every young player playing for a smaller team.... Ings would probably be on most people's list if his name was Marciano Lopez or some foreign name with a foreign Nationality and in a foreign team.
30 goals in his last 70 Appearances at 23 is not great but its not terrible either, especially as he is available on a free, yes, we have a pile of money to spend ... the current climate doesn't favour us at the moment - you either have old established strikers or young strikers with potential available.... a gamble either way we have gone the first route with Falcao and that was a disaster.
Not his biggest fan but writing him off because he plays for Burnley doesn't seem like the ideal thing to do, not saying he should be a priority signing this summer but he is available on a free.

The only other option I've seen that looks good is Darmian, and he fits the young and inexpensive bracket as well.

Well, I think you are underestimating Schneiderlin's passing, but I'd probably agree that it is not as good as Carrick's. He has different qualities to make up for it though and he's consistently been Southampton's best player for 3 years or more. I'd love to see what he would do with better players around him and IMO we would regret it, if he goes to Arsenal or Chelsea.

Yeah, i heard about that "Darmian" lad just a while ago on here. I think it was this thread tbh man. Seems highly rated, but has a few big clubs after his signature by the looks of it too. Southampton will ride us if we want Clyne!
Confident about Shaw aswell. He played great against Chelsea & looked energetic. Hope that wasnt just down to Chelsea being the club that let him go as a youngster though..
I don't think so, but what do I know. The physicality of the EPL is probably the aspect of the game that van Gaal underestimated the most in the beginning, so I'd like to think that he's looking for a player, who's able to deal with that while still being good on the ball. Currently, Gündogan would be nothing more than a backup player to Herrera.
Gundogan will play as a 6 ultimately replacing Carrick I would suggest. 100% we will be in the running for Pogba this summer along with everyone else. Once he goes to Real we will probably end up with a lesser shining light in there with Herrera moving up to the 10 position.

There's also Fabinho. On loan from Rio Ave to Monaco. In my muppet wonderland we'll snatch Serge Aurier under PSG's nose and make them regret it for not being able to sign him permanently last summer.
Not sure, where this idea is coming from. He's always had a player next to him playing the more disciplined role, whether it was for Dortmund or Germany. Not saying he can't do it, but he's mostly played as an 8 or 10 simply put.
If you assess his passing style I think he's earmarked to be our deep lying playmaker. LVG has played similar players like Xavi there before. I might be wrong but for LVG to admit to underestimating the physicality of the PL and then buy Gundogan as the box to box makes no sense to me. Herrera is the 10 next season for me his goals recently show thats his best position. Gundogan's role will be taking the ball from Hummels next season and starting our plays IMO.
The passing stats are pretty similar but the nature and context of the passing is not factored in. He certainly has the edge in tackling and would add a more combative element to our midfield. I think if he became our long term DM though we'd need another #8 to go with Herrera and had more dynamism to our midfield.

Darmian made Clyne look a mug in the recent England vs Italy friendly, so mucxh better positionally and technically, but you're right that getting him might be tricky now Bayern are supposedly sniffing around.
I think it was more about his own personal battle this season, he was needed unexpectedly due to injuries and looked intent to prove his worth to LvG, especially given the recent good performances from Blind at LB, he needed to grab that opportunity.
Is Aurier that good? In truth I've barely seen him as PSG got him on loan and then don't seem to have used him all that much, especially since they started using Marquinhos at RB. I like Fabinho, not great in attack but would offer a solid defensive RB option and is also a decent DM.
Valencia has gradually won me over. I'd like to see how he will develop further under van Gaal next year. He still looks great physically so no worries about his approaching 30. If Clyne came in it's quite possible that Valencia would see him off anyway.
I honestly don't see any advantage to buying Clyne. If we buy a RB, he should be one of the best in the world, otherwise I'm happy with Tony.
I really don't know what we need to be honest, its very easy to come here and act like a scout who has been going round Europe scouting different players and making a pretentious list like you have actually seen those players play, never saw a clip of Herrera prior to him signing for us and look at him now, for all we now LVG might have his own list of players he wants that we haven't necessarily included in our lists, he has already shown us that he can make an average player great, Depay looks like the only sure thing this summer.
Any suggestions ? don't think there are many young WC RB's out there.
Can't think of any. With LvG, even if we bought Clyne, he may well continue to play Valencia, which is why we should buy a top quality RB if we go down that route.
Arent defensive RBs a thing of the past?
Carvajal isn't half bad, plus he only has 1 year remaining on his contract and Madrid have just signed Danilo for £25million which surely means he might be considering an exit.
This is why I quite like the idea of the young RB on loan at Valencia that we are linked with, he can grow into the role while Valencia keeps on trucking.

I kind of feel like I've seen this movie before with Madrid, they'll end up using Carvajal more next season and selling Danilo in 2 seasons.
You are obviously right that it's not the same context, just wanted to show that Schneiderlin has been able to sustain a certain level and that he doesn't need to fear the comparison. Point overall is that he isn't the same player anyways, but has enough to offer that would make him a very good signing IMO.
I've seen most of Aurier for Toulouse last season and some games for the Ivory Coast. He's almost always impressed me and is just 22 years old, so he'll probably just get better. He's obviously been to the African Cup of Nations this season, but he's still played less than I thought he would, especially with van der Wiel as his competitor, which I don't rate as much. Then again Blanc is preferring Maxwell to Digne at left-back, which I don't get either. I guess what I like about Aurier is basically the point we were discussing earlier with midfielders, he's a good defender, who's also very good going forward and on the ball, and on top of that has the physicality like Azpilicueta and Ivanovic that makes them so tough to beat. It's a trait I simply like in defenders and defensively-minded midfielders.
2 new strikers who can control the ball in traffic. A playmaker who can thread passes in traffic. Pace. A replacement for Carrick. Replacement for De Gea who is leaving I think. A new RB or two. A new CB. Players with the will to win
