Manchester United POTY 17/18 | PPotY + SMBPotY: De Gea, MPotY: McTominay | The two Tony's smile

What happened?

There was a presentation from Jose where he gave Carras a coaches jersey with MC on it plus a whistle and Advil followed by a video featuring Rooney,Scholesy,Robbo ,Gerrard ,Lampard ,Sir Alex and about 15 other people saying good things about Carrick. Really good stuff with Carrick & his wife almost on the verge of tears

@GifLord Where art thou?

Think fan votes for u18s player of the year is nonsense and frankly Chong shouldn't have even been nominated. He barely played for the u18s. Reward the players who actually achieved the great season they had.

Try to ask a better question next time then? How about simple " Who is with Carrick, there?"? You would be in serious trouble if you're asking question like you did in some places in real life, believe it or not.

Edit: Nice touch form the club about Carrick
What kind of serious trouble? Let's pretend I was taking the mick in the first place. What could happen?

Edit: also I've not seen you @ anyone else who actually has made jokes about Carrick's wife being his mum. Why pick me?

The magazines editors won't be happy.

Edit: as well as readers who read for plot

What's your question again?

You asked whether Carrick brought his mom? How many times people brought their mom with them to these events, instead of their partners? If you're not sure about his mom then you can Google to check before asking. Easy.
People take their mums to these kind of events all the time. Frank Ocean took his mum to the Grammy's with him.

Let pretend you ask your coworker with big mouth about your boss' partner. Or your fiancee about one of their parent...

Yeah, go on. What would happen? What would I say to my fiance's about her parents? How do you know I'm engaged?

And again, why just @ing me? Are you trying to shame me?

Don't think fans voted for that award

Look at the kids in their little suits. John Terry would've shown up in full kit.

They did. This is the first year it's been included in the fan vote which is ridiculous because barely any fans even watch the u18s and there was no option to skip it even, so loads of people have voted for Chong while saying they never watched.

It's made a joke really of what should have been a reward for Garner or O'Connor for a great season and winning the northern league.

Wait this was tonight? Can imagine a fair few weren't aware especially with it being a CL evening. @Damien why didn't you put an announcement on the front page? Can't believe you're getting paid big bucks for not doing your job properly.

@KM made the joke and admitted he did and moved on. Your innocent question is not very different from certain joke. And you're we having this discussion when it's not just only me who picked up your question instead of @KM's post. Wonder why?

Since you're so defensive and it's getting irrational, let's agree to stop this here. Good luck.

Let's stop because you've decided to pick on my innocent question instead of someone who actually made the joke? Nah.

It's easy for KM (and everyone else who made a similar joke or laughed) to move on because you haven't gone around accusing them of nonsense.

Why do you think people picked up on my question? Why do you think people have continued making the joke, even after your faux outrage?

I'm being 'defensive' (in your opinion) because you wrongly accused me of something I didn't do, and haven't apologised for it. Quite presumptuous of you.

Then you've gone on to make some sort of threat about me getting into serious trouble if I asked an innocent question in front of the wrong people. This got irrational as soon as you decided to quote me.

Noted, you haven't been able to reply to my post about plenty of celebrities who have taken their mothers to these sort of events, I assume because that post shows how nonsensical your initial reply to me was.

Special mention for Carrick, awesome midfield player and such a servant to the club.

I feel the awards went to the right people to be fair. Pretty much.
I would have taken Tony V's goal as goal of the season but that's just me.

I see what JM is doing bringing on and bigging up McTominay because he is one for the future (encouraging the others) but I wouldn't have handed out that award.

Jose try some of the other youngsters out they may surprise you! Scott is one of ours and has done real well but he is a lynchpin, not a creative player, not a scorer of goals. It will come in time but for me he looked like a disciplined youngster in the middle of the park. Good at reading and breaking up play, square passes, not a lot else. Average almost. You can credit him for standing alongside and playing against veteran men.

He is still learning, I am sure he will become very good at his role.

I like him but feel there is far more to come from him. All I saw this season was discipline and positional sense and a few good tackles. All good things to be fair but it really does show JM tactics up if that's what he looks for in a star performer to him.

Give me Gomez and Chong in a game or two please.

They are both a few age groups below McTominay and will get their chance in due time. No point throwing them in now when they are still developing well in the youth age groups.

Mata's partner looks adorable... not as cute as the most wonderful man in football though

Give me Gomez and Chong in a game or two please.

Gomes is 17 while Chong is 18. Both aren't in a hurry to make the step up to the first team yet.

Mourinho to Carrick: “Thats the next shirt, I have two more gifts, the players will be happy with this, your first whistle, you can be the referee and finally, advil for headaches.”

Jose cracking jokes again, we're slowly but surely getting back the Charismatic Special One

Nice try there, Jose. Almost saving your face but not everyone forgets this

Jose in January said:
I think when a goalkeeper is a player of the season, it’s because something is wrong. Season after season the goalkeeper is player of the season, it means that something is wrong. Hopefully he’s not player of the season this season

I aint surprised by Jose's love for McTominay tbh. Throughout his career, Jose is well known for his obsession with bang average players like Arbeloa, Callejon, Fellaini. I got used to it but his bad habit got worse and worse in recent years when he kept publicly showing this ridiculous admiration by overreacted behaviours/words.

That's sad seeing one of your biggest football inspiration getting old these days

Yeah people get sentimental as they grow old. I'm sure that's what happened to Jose to some extent in the recent years too. After his second Chelsea stint where he lost almost all players bar Matic and Willian, he probably values loyalty, commitment etc. more than ever now. That's why he fell in love with the likes of McTominay and Fellaini imo. I hope it never reaches to a point that he treats these values as they are more important than genuine quality though. That would turn him to a has-been manager, a new Capello if you like.

Cheers mate, exactly how i feel. Hope our fear wont come true though :(

Or it's gone to the best player of that age group .
