Manchester United Kits 2018/2019

It looks like a United kit a game which doesn’t have the rights to the actual one would give us.

The traditional Caf's drunken designer mentality. Happens every season mate.

There are always a lot of people who dislike the new kit on here, but have you ever stopped to think that they may actually be different people? I imagine a lot of the people who disliked last season's kits are the same people who like this seasons, rather than the same set of people hating every kit when it's released.

For sure but it's been extra toxic this time around. I guess it's a sign of the times.

I think it's more likely to be more of an actual reaction to this particular design. When a company changes your club's traditional colours AND it results in a mess like this, people may well tell you they don't like it. It's not just a redcafe or United thing either, most football fans react similarly when big changes are made to the appearance of their teams, even when it is for just a season. It touches on the whole issue of identity and how we represent ourselves.

While you may think people are over-reacting, mainly it's just people coming to the forum they normally come to and posting their thoughts as they usually would, nobody is picketing Adidas HQ or the Megastore at OT.

Safe to say it'll probably sell just as many as it usually does, no lessons will be learned, and the need to produce three new kits per season will inevitably result in dozens more awful kits over the next decade or so.

Yeah I agree, but telling people how awful this kit is according to your own taste and slating design language as if they know stuff about designing is a bit annoying.

This is Adidas and they design language is one of the most advanced in the sports lately. Their rise in contemporary designs has outperformed Nike for several years.

Look at their shoes, their pattern, their marketing, their vision about the future of sportswear.. They are the one leading at the moment and I'm on board with their ideas.

This kit is as modern as it should be, and I like the direction they are going.

It looks smart as feck that, now we just need to find some headless footballers....

Weird to see so much promotion of a mediocre training kit that the players will wear during the warm up

looks nice - didn't give it a chance because of the negative reaction on here but looked great yesterday.

Def looked better on the players and I quite like it....

Wasn't a fan of the horizontal black stripes when it first released, but the combination with the black shorts and striped socks really works well. If the black in the bottom of the shirt and shorts blends in (it appeared so in my pixelated stream against Club America), it'll be a very nice looking kit.

The shirt is tailored to be worn with black shorts. It'll look really bad imo with white shorts.

I like it. Each to their own. We've worn black shorts with our red kits countless times.

The red socks are the biggest mistake, black shorts, black socks looks great.

Yeah it's fine when we're playing away but as our main home kit it doesn't work for me. I like red, white, and black.

I really like this kit, the best we've had since 08/09 IMO

I would say it's "modern" looking rather than traditional, but I prefer the black shorts over white, always have.

It has to be worn in full kit wanker mode though, shirts alone don't do it justice.

To be fair, some of us do know a fair amount about design, as that's what we do for a living. In my line of work, I have collaborated with teams from Adidas and Umbro in the last couple of years, for example. I know that Adidas produce some great stuff, which is why it strikes me as a shame that we don't seem to receive much of it. Compare this set of kits, not to mention the awful grey kit from last year with some of the amazing designs they did for national teams at the world cup and it really comes across as second rate.

Pair that kit with any black pants, you're looking class as well.

I like it a lot, this is probably the first home kit I'll buy since 08/09. I thought it looked great on the players last night but I've always like us in black shorts anyway.

Lots of nice things about the kit as a whole, it looked really good on the players during the game. The shade of red although a bit different to our normal red looked really cool in the floodlights and combines well with the black. I like how they kept the stripes black on the shorts too. The middle section does look a bit weird and if they got that right I think it could have been the best kit we have had for ages. Its a pretty sick modern Manchester United kit.

Anybody bought this yet and confirm whether or not the sleeve sponsor is on it ? I hope not to be honest.

Do you work for Adidas or something?
Your post reads like a PR ad

Its odd you get annoyed for fans expressing their opinion on an awful kit

Apart from the away kit from 95/96, this is the worst United kit I've seen.

I know a bit about design, branding, and storytelling since I did it professionally and I think this kit is poor. It does indeed look better on players than the mockup but it’s far too tacky. I can appreciate them trying something new but this is going to be reflected on poorly years from now (unless we win the league). You praise them for being intelligent and ahead of the game but what they have done was change our identity with this style. None of what I see conveys prestige of any sort. All it does it attempt to make United look “cool” and “hip” which is debatable in iteself. We’ll see in the years to come how this is viewed as I think I’ll be right regarding this.

I collect Adidas shoes. Maybe I'm biased...oh well. Just have to chill for a bit.

Don't like the shirt as a stand alone item and don't like that they've messed with the traditional socks and shorts...however, judging from the live pics from the match vs Club America, as a full ensemble it somehow surprisingly works quite well together.

First time I bothered seeing it was today on this thread - I like it.

It's not really a discussion when you have people harping on about how much they hate the kit and the design etc.

People are voicing their opinions. Some like it, some hate it. What else is a discussion about a new kit going to look like?

Some people seem to be bordering suicidal as they don't like the fade.. I'll have it's a discussion but why do serious over a kit

Well I mean it is clear evidence of our decline and Woodward's obsession with noodle partners over success. Or something.

But yea, the kit is fecking gross innit.

It's ok. I've seen worse. Interesting that they have done something different. Think it will be a grower.

Nah it's mint. On its own it's blah, but with the socks and shorts it's sexy as feck.
