Manchester United 3:1 Crystal Palace (Tue 19th July, 11:10 UK time)

Luke Shaw will need to activate his Super Saiyan mode once again if he wants to keep his place. Malacia's making runs and passes we've rarely seen our LB make.

I think there's more to it than that, having watched them a bit further.

Dalot seems to have been in more of a wingback role on the right, rather than inverted fullback. Meanwhile on the left, Malacia and Fred are taking turns to get forward while the other drops back into a back 3.

It seems to be quite an asymmetrical system. But not in a bad way.
It was more noticeable in the last 2 games. But you’ll see the full backs make under lapping runs similar to how city full backs make runs inside. Sancho and Rashford were finding through balls for them especially against Liverpool.

Ten Hag has done a brilliant job coaching this squad. Press resistant, good timed runs, solid positioning. McT showing for the ball, Fred making solid progressive passes, Maguire making sensible decisions. There are clear improvements all over the pitch.

Malacia is a big upgrade on Telles. Looking forward to seeing Eriksen and Martinez in this team

Gosh, seeing these players chase down goalkeepers in pre season is amazing. Lets hope that's still going all season

Butland is a bag of fecking nerves

Haha never forget the one single half of pressing we did last year was against Palace…then fully abandoned it after. Was strange.

It is quite noticeable how different Malacia is playing to what our full backs have typically done. The positions he's taking up are completely different.

Fred needs to look up to Sancho and Dalot way more.

This Matthews was crap in League One, god knows how he got a gig with Palace even as a back up.
