Manchester United 3:1 Crystal Palace (Tue 19th July, 11:10 UK time)

Hadn't seen him much to this point but a really good cross by Rashford. Nearly found Martial!

wtf. how is that possible?

A friend of mine stuck his head out of a convertible once and a bee flew straight up his nostril. Brick onto face vibe.
Arborist. He was up the tree taking the top off it, something went wrong and he fell, then the tree came down on top of him.
Just bad luck really.
That doesn't sound very pleasant.

Imagine that it's just taken three weeks of coaching to teach the team how to pass their way out of a press. Makes you wonder what they've been doing in training for the past three and a half years.

I was a hater.

Still am actually, I shall stand by my opinion until I see the same level of commitment and goal scoring form in real games. But so far so good!

I'm not a hater of the person, why would I when I don't know him, but I do/did hate his demeanour on the pitch.
We all know he has quality within him but we've seen precious little in recent seasons and, coupled with his sullen attitude, it's little wonder fans have criticised him.
If he recovers his form under ETH then no doubt all, including me, will be happy to have him on the pitch.
Let's hope this early promise continues!

Malacia seems to be taking a very central position at times. Interesting.

This team is going to look so much different with Eriksen and Martinez plus hopefully de Jong in it. I hope the forwards have their finishing boots on.

Its quite interesting the way we beat the press, not just that we have moved Maguire to RCB as well.

What is ETH doing out there? It's not the United way to have so many players in the box

It’s been noticeable in all the games so far. ETH using them as inverted fullbacks. They are tucking into midfield when we are attacking. And then sometimes wingers coke inside and the full back stays wide.
I think there's more to it than that, having watched them a bit further.

Dalot seems to have been in more of a wingback role on the right, rather than inverted fullback. Meanwhile on the left, Malacia and Fred are taking turns to get forward while the other drops back into a back 3.

It seems to be quite an asymmetrical system. But not in a bad way.

Some decent positives but our midfield looks poor and De Gea needs to get off his line and sweep up those long balls.

Rashford definitely has his spring back.
Yeah it’s very noticeable. He seems to have the energy levels and enthusiasm of a couple of years ago. We may have something to work with.

Damn, would have been great to see Maguire score that.
